So I’m deciding to try and main Akuma when I get my stick. I want to see just how fucked up this guy can be. From what I’ve understood HDR was made so that all characters can be playable, and also from what I understand, Akuma limits this to a way that is unfair.
But to be frank, I can’t even vote because I don’t have enough say in the matter right now…I don’t have enough experience to even make a valid arguement or post, and personally, I don’t believe a lot of players who have voted do either. It almost seems like most of the players who voted either don’t have enough ST experience, or are just playing the “lets wait and see” card. But the fact of the matter is that from what I understand, some of the best players have played the best played Akuma, and have been cleanly beaten at a consistent rate…that in itself needs to be taken into prespective.
In conclusion, I’ll main Akuma, and though I’m not amazing at this game yet, you know that you should watch out for me within the following weeks. I’m also reserving judgement until I start truly seeing how I can be beaten, and what I can abuse, and WHY it shouldn’t be put in our tournaments.

Well, that’s the thing… even if it’s cheap to d/l on the Xbox, I have no X-box. I’m still rocking US and Japanese PS2s. I’ll be getting a PS3 as soon as I move back, though. I would get one here, but I don’t want to have a dedicated converter for the power supply and region encoding for Korean DVDs.
Mech, I have been playing a tad bit of SF4, though, and I’m using Sim in that.
I’m sure I’ll start playing some ST Remix once I move back… or something. Should I just get MAME with ST or something in the meantime, or are they really much different? … and yes, I will be using Sim (and Gief)
well, i beat Ninja Gaiden 2 last night, so Im more likely to play REMIX if either myself or roommates arent playing Bad Company, so uh…hit me up? Oh yeah, im not usually home until after 11pm nowadays.
Nate, everytime I was desperately looking for some HDR comp and I would invite you only to see you playing Ninja Gaiden 2 instead of dat ST, just know that I sat there in my chair with my headset on, shaking my head in disgust with you.
Murakumo: ST fundamentals are the same between HDR and ST. The characters most radically different are Cammy, Sagat, Vega(? From being nerfed?). I find it hella easy to go back and forth between them. Your timing might need adjustment from MAME which I think has built in input lag…try NFBA instead of mame.
Vega’s really not that different. Don’t go for the repeat wall dive, and you have to crouch to flip kick, otherwise he is the same. The walldive fake is also a nice subtle buff for him, since he can run away completely safely.
Oh I forgot, Sim got the nerf bat pretty good too. He can reversal super, but the super itself is harder to cancel into, or something from slides? Not sure but I heard it from a VERY good sim player. Also the super has less invincibility (it was retarded before).
Boxer got nerfed the fuck up but is still quite playable.
it sucks to play ST when my pings are like 200 to 900+ on my nights off, im considering getting my own Comcast connect for use on my XBL…another thing, i cant even get in game on my own fucking system when i come home at 11:30pm when my other 2 roommates play it while I am at work. its fucking disgusting but i cant just be an asshole all of a sudden.

You should give it a try. It can be quite satisfying.
I have FiOS at my house, I don’t know if that’s an option where you are. They don’t do Speed Boost bullshit and the upload speeds should be much better.
And I don’t know how it’s being an asshole to ask if you can share in the joy. If you don’t stick up for some level of fairness/equality you’re just letting people walk over you.
its just one of my roommate constantly streams some Chinese TV in his room and i cant say “dont do that”…the connect is meant for all 5 of us to enjoy, but i cant enjoy what i wana do if people are torrenting/streaming/whatever…and i’ve let a couple of them more or less “walk over me” since im not home to really police my shit…although on Friday when im home im just going to do nothing but play on my system and not let anyone else, just to be a dick.
edit - FIOS INET no-go at my place, but i think FIOS TV is…which perplaxes me.
