Should Street Fighter IV be used as a template for future fighters?

I’m more then happy with there last two games.

Only thing I would have changed on TVC was make it for the PS3 in HD,and have online.

Nothing was wrong with MIRA. Stop it now.

Have you tried MIRA? Its really good IMO…addresses the flawed problems of MI2…its a shame it hasnt gotten a US release…it deserves it…it’s very very good…

Yeah people just have to accept the fact that sprites are dead. Cell shaded 3D will be the future for 2D fighting games.

I have, and it’s definitely a step in a much better direction (Ash and Xiao Lon were a bunch of fun and great additions to the roster). Don’t get me wrong, I do like MI2 and MIRA, I still play them pretty often, I just think they have some flaws that, particularly in the wake of SF4, are pretty glaring.

But, enough of this, lest we derail the topic too much.

For a guy hiding behind a e-girl persona u sure to pay a lot of lip service…

For a little boy who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, you sure do have a lot to say.

XIII:

> look at 3S and how different everyone plays.

FUCKING LOL!!! That’s the funniet thing I’ve read all day!

Name 5.

The only flaw I can think of with Regulation A is that Ash Crimson was there. God, I hate that motherfucker. Why couldn’t they have put someone in there who wasn’t so annoying to look at, like…Iuno, someone from Fatal Fury. Andy would have been interesting, he doesn’t show up enough.

if you italicize video game names on an internet forum you are a fucking faggot

Probably because I’ve actually competed in tournies and have made my way on the competitive scene to some capcity, when u do the same then we can talk.

Winning round one of the Gamestop SFIV tournament isn’t making your way on the competitive scene.

lol, I can’t believe the thread is this long.

*SF4 has finally arrived…and plz be kind and ban Sagat. *

What’s with the sig Evo? Also, keep in mind that when you talk big about winning tournaments and being a veteran at this sort of thing, you gotta be ready to back up your claims. I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I highly doubt that he won the first round, or even came close. He probably got his ass whooped by a scrubby Sagat in his first match, hence the signature.

I think capcom actually made Street Fighter EX 4, and then dropped the EX as a marketing ploy…

I like SF4, but it seems like it was made for people who don’t really play street fighter, or havent played it for a while. instead of maturing with the audience, they’ve gone back a few steps.

Ive never got why people didn’t like SF3 (my favourite version is double impact, not third strike), and I don’t get why a lot of reviewers seem to be dismissing SF3 as though it wasn’t a sequel, since gameplay wise SF4 isn’t offering anything new really. I mean, SF4 plays much like EX, which I liked, but gets panned left and right by reviewers, yet now this version is ‘the most versatile fighter ever…’ etc.

I doubt we’ll see a new sprite based game from capcom again, as they can make more money in 3D, simply by telling people that its better. But I just hope they aren’t planning to keep throwing these half finished, DLC based games at us…

I agree with pretty much everything Sirlin said in his latest blog post regarding SF4. And I wouldn’t want anything new to use it as a template.

he has some good points but alot of commenters seem to have really good heads on their shoulders and offer strong counterpoints… alot of which he doesn’t really address in his edits sadly… which i guess just concedes that point? i dunno.

it’s a great article though.

and i do agree that the reviewers giving it a perfect score are all obviously retarded and would have given the game that no matter what… but really when have reviews ever been anything but that anyway?

video game reviews have probably been more “pure” (motivationally speaking) for longer… but any other media? shit man music reviews have been trash and nothing but hype forever… same with movies and books and all that… just people getting paid to sell their opinions… usually poorly educated (meaning a lack of knowledge in their field of critique) opinions at that…

but it’s just about the right time for game reviews to become the same hogwash most reviews are… sad to see it go.

i prefer the way tvc looks.

Yes, of course they should use it as a template for future fighters!

Who wouldn’t want the same game they played 15 years ago with the characters who still play the same way in a shiny new package?

Oh wait, that’s HDR Remix.

Now I’m confused.
