Hey guys, I thought i’d ask Preppy to see if we could get our Portland Metro Area Roster thread stickied. Primarily becuase it’s a contact list that has proven useful to us getting together. This is the response he gave me on the quotes above. I would support voting towards it, but it would also involve maintenance as new people came. I’m not sure how this would work out… Maybe the social group & this thread is suficient for our needs. I just thought i’d bring this up & ask the communities opinion or vote towards this. It appears he is open to it if there are votes, but I also don’t think it would be fair to have someone else maintaing updates if the room continue to grow. Maybe that could be a task delegated to the local community that support it.
I don’t much care for the poll option wording (implies that the thread isn’t a valuable tool if you choose no), but I get your meaning… I’m just a language critic.
I don’t think the thread needs stickying. It’s not that it isn’t useful… it’s that there aren’t 30billion new threads showing up in here all the time. If the Portland roster is falling off the first page, then maybe it’d be worth stickying. For the time being, though… it’s being posted in enough to keep it fresh in the minds of those who use it.
Then there’s the social group, too.
I, too, am more than willing to be “outvoted,” but that’s my take on the matter.
Edit: For the record, in case I haven’t made it clear before, I’m definitely appreciative of the work you’ve done to get Portland organized. Not only do I appreciate it, but I mean to both back you/the movement and contribute.
I agree with you, i am not too partial to either one… thanks for thinking it out a little more than i did. you’re probably correct, i just posted something quick up because there were some people interested. on their behalf I guess. I personally think the social group is the best option because there is a link to the roster & everyone is on there anyways… If it falls down a few pages, you can still access it from the social group information. Thanks for your appreciation, support & back up. I appreciate it. I’m sure as the community grows we all will fill several roles in contributing.
