Should I switch to wired connection for my PS3?

Naw Maniak I don’t play on PSN very much anymore just for the simple fact that I can never get a strong connection for matches. Just hit me up if you wanna play some casuals though I’ll tolerate the lag to see how your Guy has progressed.

Actually I have upgraded my connection recently. It’s not me lagging it’s every one else on PSN leaching off their neighbors internet. But then again it’s been so long since I’ve searched for a match out of area so maybe it has improved…hrm.:wtf:

Or microwaves, or radios, or cordless phones, or even TVs. There are a lot of things that can cause interference.

Wired is the way to go for online gaming.

I play on wireless. No one complains about me lagging.

Wireless isn’t trustworthy for online gaming like fighting games. There are too many factors that interfere with the proper response of the connections, thus resulting in an overall laggier experience. I would recommend you to get a wired connection.

Get a wire and if you can make sure you have the proper ports are open to maximize your connection.

Yeah man! I play very little now due to work. I think I’ve gotten a little better I hope?

Sometimes it’s simply a matter of a poor ISP. For example, I could “upgrade” my current internet to a higher bandwidth plan, but that is bandwidth only. Not really what online gaming needs. Online gaming needs faster pings. If you ping high your connection will suck no matter how fast of a plan you buy from your ISP. I’m currently dealing with this and it sucks. I’ve played wired or wireless and it makes no difference anymore, it’s just the shitty ping times I get and my ISP can’t do anything for me.

I play wireless as well. Heck, I stream wirelessly while I’m playing people wireless and I still get solid wins.

Hit me up this weekend sometime.

No you don’t. Theres no such thing as a perfect connection, and you’d undeniably have less lag with a wired setup. He’s entirely right. Playing people who knowingly lag/think they can torrent and play at the same time are either stupid or inconsiderate

I’d explain exactly why I cannot play on a Wired connection, but your name leads me to believe you’re trollin’ me. So believe what you want, I’m using a Wireless connection until further notice and it becomes possible to actually play wired.

As far as speed goes, wired and wireless are about equal, unless you are using old ass wireless adapters/routers from 2008.

But wireless connections are more prone to interference, whereas wired connections are pretty much immune as long as there aren’t any animals or children who may trip on your wires.

Of course if your house is completely free of interference - no microwaves, no wireless home phone, no garage door opener nearby, perfect connection between your router and adapter - then the two would be equal. It sounds to me like OP has an ideal scenario for his wireless connection.

This is very much called for.

Packets drop on wireless connections more often than packets drop on street corners on The Wire.

Anyone who disagrees needs to either place at WNFs or else shut the fuck up until at P. Gorath’s level.

Also, anyone who plays fighting games over wireless is an asshole.

The only valid explanation is that you’re stealing internet. Getting an Ethernet cable to anywhere thats not a bomb shelter is easy.

Yea thats why all the top players use wireless sticks at tourneys! Because its just as fast!!!1

This is just blatantly false. Wireless is NEVER as fast as wired. Ever. In SF4 even an extra 60th of a second makes a big difference.

Why are you being such a dick? Seriously man. I can’t play on a wired connection because I’m on the second floor and because of this particular room’s layout, I can’t run an ethernet cable down to the box. I’m fucked in that regard, so I’m stuck not playing on a wired connection. The fuck do you want me to do, not play Street Fighter online ever? Yeah, fucking great idea.

You can’t get a cable in because of the layout of the room? LOL. Like I said getting an ethernet cable anywhere is super easy. My router is in my basement as well. You know what I did? I ran a cord up to my game room. You literraly just need a long cord and some staples, so sorry if I dont pity you and your hopeless situation.

The reason tournaments don’t use wireless sticks is because they cause issues when people fail to de-sync their controllers from a console. Refer to Ryan Hart vs Gandido: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAsUqN1KPjw

It has nothing to do with wireless being laggy or inferior, though it is coincidental that the only wireless stick (T6 bundle stick) happens to be garbage.

As for your second point,

Here’s my source, rigorous testing done by the most trusted and reputable member of SRK’s tech talk, and producer of the PCB that powers thousands of PS3 sticks.

Where’s your source?

My source is this is irrelevant because the topic is wireless INTERNET routers not pads that use an entirely different signal/system?

If you think wireless internet is as efficient as wired for gaming you’re ignorant or stupid. Thats just a fact. Watch beyond the game: grubby goes on about how wireless is bad even for games like warcraft and he’s spent more time gaming online than just about anybody.

Way to waste your time.

LOL, you really are trolling here.
