Shoryureppa! The Ken Thread

Guile throwing booms while moving forward… is that the glitch where you hold the controller all wack?

Yes its the controller glitch. BTW patch coming eventually!!!

Blitz, I’m under two impressions watching that vid,

  1. All combos done with the hold forward and backward at the same time, could alter pushback? I don’t know.

  2. HDR Ken cannot combo crazy lk, I’ve tried, he used cr.mp and I know HDR ken can’t do that.

  3. I just suddenly had a third point. Looking at 2, I noticed that all combos in that vid were done with ST graphics. Therefore all combos could be ST based with controller glitch, or he’s using HDR with ST graphics.

The only thing I know for certain unless proven wrong, and it hasn’t yet, is that at default speed, crazy lk is too slow to combo from cr.mk or cr.mp.

Unless its properties are specifically different depending on pixel distance.

I know this is hyper fighting, but can any of this still work?!

And holy fucking shit at the stuff around 1:25!!

yep

You’re right, 1-hit Short Crazy > Shoryuken doesn’t combo. Might be only possible on speed 0. I don’t think the controller glitch or the ST graphics have anything to do with it tho. I’mma try it again on speed 0.

A lot of those combos don’t work in Remix. But some of them do. Like cr.Jab > j.Jab > Tatsu.

I don’t know if its been mentioned, but i saw
crossup mk, cr.mp > crazy mkoverhead? > sweep

It dizzied.

When are good times to go for a crossup, cuz the people I use it against tend to always block it.

Against players that don’t pull off reversals or anti-air’s successfully, it’s almost always a good time. Also, it depends on the character. Since Hondas are almost always charging down-back, a crossup mk usually works.

It should be part of any good mix-up routine, I think. If you go for it every time, they’ll either walk under you and throw or srk you or whatever.

Favorite cross up combo: crossup mk, cr.mk xx mk crazy kick (overhead), sweep (or srk).

Ooookaaay…Short Crazy > Shoryuken combo doesn’t work on speed 0 either. Might be my crappy execution, but I don’t know how Desk did it. Anybody else been trying that combo?

nah, I haven’t tried it yet, will do soon though-that vid is insane!! and how the hell do i beat boxer and honda’s? (MisterEgoTrip’s Honda slaughtered me yesterday!)

See page 5 for tips vs Honda and Boxer.

I tried with ST Ken and it still didn’t work. If he can make that shit work though then I bow my head to him.

I can do crossup mk. > c. mk. > crazy kick 2 just fine but I am having problems with the jump-in version.

j. mk >c. mk. > crazy kick 2 I have problems with on taller characters (Gief, Sagat, ect.) If I hit them at the top of the head , even if I hold down and mash on mk. right after the first mk., I can’t get it to combo in. If I press the first mk. a bit later, I can get it on any character, but waiting that long hit confirm after you are in range isn’t to safe if it. Is there any way to make that work on tall characters, or does my timing just suck?

thanks Blitzfu

I’m having a little trouble figuring out the cross-up range of Ken’s j.MK. From how far out do I want to jump to get a deep cross-up? I’ve been mainly playing Dee Jay so I’ve been spoiled by his way too easy to use j.MK crossup.

Does Ken only have like a one-frame window to tack on a sweep after his LK crazy kick overhead? Can he talk on a cr. forward instead?

Alright…im a newb player…but im good enough…

Dee Jay has been totally pissing me off…I keep gettin whooped…

I cant cross him up…im too scared to do anything on wake up against him…he will just punish me…

so I tried the whole zoning thing…that seems to be the key…but im just not used to zoning against deejay…where should I be and what types of fireballs should I do…and besides his crazy crossups…what else should I look for…

My cross-ups are horrible against Honda… I never manage to get around his fat ass.

Guess I should try jumping from a closer range

Use the mk cause the overhead is faster.

Also, if mk overhead hits on standing opponent, they can take the second hit and then block the sweep.

If the second hit of the overhead hits a crouching opponent, they will not be able to block the sweep. From what I can tell.

First off, don’t jump in to dodge/punish a close-range fireball… He’ll just slide-kick you and reset the trap. Keep maybe mid-screen, or however far you have to be to be out of sweep range on landing, and you might manage to bait him into some whiffed slides that you can punish.

From there, I say try to get close and kneebash the fuck out of him. I don’t think Deejay has a command throw, so it’ll be hard for him to counter. After knock-downs, try to fake him out with phony jump-ins (i.e. time your landing just before he actually wakes up), so that you can bait him into AA and punish it hard.

punish his slides with what exactly?

SHORYUKEN!! Or sweep.
