You don’t have to. Do a little bit of forum member outreach and hit up the guys who share info in the threads. They’ll be writing essentially the same material that they contribute in their respective threads but it would be highlighted on the front page. We’re fighting game players, we only care if the tech or strat works, not who is saying it. Work smarter not harder.
As I see it SRK can either go one of two ways:
FGE: Fighting Game Entertainment or FGC Fighting Game Community.
If it’s entertainment then lean into all the stuff news, gossip, viral combo clips, player disputes etc. Become the TMZ of fighting games. If not, go the FGC route and lean into the site being about community, collaboration and competition.

You don’t really have to split the website in two. As long as it doesn’t turn into a random assed gossip rag like E-hubs does is fine.
The crazy, the real crazy shit is that Watson mentioned in one of his vids that SRK was making 10K in ad revenue a month for a while. Wiz splittin 5 and Kineda splitting 5.
Either that can’t be right or forums were lied to about the state of affairs during a lot of years all the while not having a say on anything was run.

It wasn’t just Watson throwing around those numbers, others were as well in IRC and PM’s. I’m inclined to believe that the site was making 10k+ per month, not just from ads but from premium, merch and other revenue generators.
The site doesn’t have to be either-or but SRK from the outside looking in is a dinosaur. Features and philosophy sort of have to modernize and from that stems the basic question: is it an entertainment site or an education site. Not that those things are mutually exclusive but one of those words will be the focus over the other.

The only answer you will need to hear: new forum software. I don’t care if the current forum software is built in a way that it’s integrated with the front page. IT SUCKS. Barely anyone reads the articles - a large and most active chunk of the visitors only come here for the forums. If I wanted fighting game news, I would follow JWong’s Twitter account.
I do not understand why the soy-sipping metrosexual designers of modern forum software are compelled to emulate Reddit and its inner workings. The design and layout of this site is clunky, sterile, obtuse, and un-intuitive. In addition to the shitty interface, the new forum software has broke all embedded images and links. Annals of SRK’s history from the last decade is fractured because of the new software.
Please return to vBulletin, Xenforo, or even shit-ass Vanilla. Now that McRibzard is out of the picture, maybe the administration team won’t have to Jew out with pricing plans anymore. If the Canons have ever considered setting up a Patreon to mitigate the costs of running this dead site, I implore you to take this suggestion. I will gladly shell out the shekels; there is no place left on the Internet for men to converse in. Twitter is constantly banning people over the slightest slip-up and the biggest Chan turned into a shit-show infested with feds, shills, and retards who only curate Wojak edits.
If Kiwi Farms can sustain Xenforo with its autistic userbase, then there is no reason SRK couldn’t do the same, if not better.

+1 for new forum software. Why would anyone want to use a forum where features randomly break for weeks on end over, say, discord where it’s shitty but at least it works? Vanilla seemed.to be better as far as features, more user friendly, and looked nicer than what we have now.
