Shorter joystick shafts

Has anyone tried drilling a hole in their ball top or bat top to move the nut deeper so that they could shorten the length of the stick? I noticed focus attack sells a short sanwa jlf shaft, but was wondering if there is a solution without having to buy something new.

The “nut” doesn’t move deeper.
As far as I know, in order to remove the stock threaded insert, you’re essentially breaking the ball/bat top.

Just buy the shorter shaft from your online retailer of choice.
Much less headache, much less variables, and you’re sure everything lines up properly.

Thanks FreedomGundam for the quick reply. I will look for a short shaft then. Really want to try a shorter one with a bat top (ala injustice ps3 fightstick). Looks very responsive and comfortable.

I have that same stick, I can tell you before I took it apart and mod it that the stock joystick of the Injustice PS3 stick is the same size as a Sanwa JLF and the bat top are also similar dimensions to a Sanwa bat top.

Bat top handles just sit lower that ball tops due to their own nature.

I can tell you if you don’t use a S-plate Seimitsu joysticks sit shorter
