I’ll pm you if anything I don’t have aim or msn. Probably next week we can get some sessions in? I’m gonna take this week to learn what you told me .
I thought ibuki wasn’t execution heavy…I was wronggg lol. Its probably since I’m coming from maining vega but she is…
If you want to master her SJC mixups and tsumuji loops, then maybe. But you can definitely get away with doing 2-4f links and easy-mode target combos and a basic kunai vortex that doubles as a safe jump.
I kinda find cr.lp ST.lp ST.lp ST.mk into a special move a little difficult for now. But I just started on Sunday and haven’t tried it that much and I’m def not worried about mastering sjc mixups for now even though that shit is sick and pretty to look at lol.
u should do cr.lp, cr.lp, st.lp
not cr.lp, ST.lp, ST.lp
Ohh ok I’ll try that instead. Thanks
cr.LP st.LP st.LP st.MK is easier, does more damage, and hits further (because you can walk in between punches)
However against a crouching Blanka, you must do cr.LP cr.LP st.MK or cr.LK st.LP
Except cr.LP , st.LP sometimes turns into cr.LP xx cl.st.LP if you’re close enough and on certain characters. That’s why I suggest just doing cr.LP , cr.LP , st.MK so you don’t have to bother with this character specific, spacing nonsense when trying to learn a basic combo with Ibuki.
^…
>_< stop being a genius just for a moment, please.
Lol so my main bnb should beeee…?
whatever works for you.
less inputs/less worrying - mingo version
more inputs/character_specific_stuff - other versions.
i’m a Chun player, but i feel like giving Ibuki a try. awesome thread, i’ll definitely be coming back to it if i do end up trying Ibuki.
Ok so here are my questions.
-
What tools does ibuki have to get out of being constantly crossed up?
-
How come when I get knocked down my opponent always beats me to the attack as well when I knocked them down. It feels like my opponent’s character is always faster than mine.
-
Last when performing Ibuki’s vortex. I am pretty proficient in landing the kunai but for some reason I can not combo into her target combo. What happens is someone either uppercuts me or I throw out a medium punch and the block it. I am attempting the lp. Mp. Hp. Target combo
1/ I’ll let someone more experienced answer
2/ Your opponent might be tech standing. On a knock-down that isnt untechable, if you press 3xPunch or 3xKick as you hit the ground, you’ll jump back up. This may be what you are experiencing?
3/ This is a timing issue. If you throw the kunai, hit them, land and then they shoryuken you - your were too slow to enter target combo 4 (the one you mentioned) and you didnt combo off of the kunai. The time where you throw kunai, land and just throw out the medium punch - you put the TC4 input in too quick. You missed the lp of the combo as you were still recovering from landing. Keep practicing, but just make sure you have landed and then wait a tiny tiny bit before you input TC4. I threw out that medium punch so many times when i first learned it as i was so excited i hit with the kunai i just wanted to get straight in there and continue the vortex (doh!)

Focus-dash is a pretty good one, it negates a majority of option-selects and gives you a bit of breathing room. It can be punished if done too repetitively though.
-
I’m not sure, we would need to see your replays to find out. It’s probably because your meaty timing is off, whereas theirs is pretty good. Or you’re mashing on buttons during their attack string, and they catching you with frame traps? Difficult to say unless we see some footage.
-
You’re throwing the kunai too late on their wake up. So your kunai hits them, but you don’t land quickly enough, so they’re able to mash out and land some damage on you before you recover from the landing. Adjust the timing of your vortex.
I will start practicing the fadc to escape and then move from there.
As for mashing I just keep trying to c lp. c lp. S mk. So I know I’m not mashing. I land target combo 4 into neckbreaker which I believe is a hard knock down and wether I run, forward angle mk, or qcf mk, they always pop up and normally c lp and connect. It always seems right when I hit c. lp button they pop up and hit me first. This happens even with great Internet connection. Hell if I try to throw them they either lp me or throw me first I don’t even tech throw.
As for the vortex I don’t practice to often right now. A bit advanced for me but I was curious as to why it TC 4 wasn’t coming out. Thanks for the help.
If you try, when your opponent is down, to hit him on wakeup with a random cr.LP, it’s a HUGE bad choice. Really.
cr.LP has only 3 active frames. Which basically means it’s active during 0.05 seconds. Unlessyou’re a bot, you can’t time it right without any tool to time, so your opponent will most likely hit you during your recovery (6frames, 0.10 seconds).
If you want to hit meaty, use cr.MP
But when you put your opponent down, you shouldn’t go for meaties anyway. Go for vortex or safe jumps. Sometimes you can mix, but meaty pressre often ends up getting heavily punishes
Oh, and
Erm… Your eyes?
Trolling aside, you “juste” have to detect if the jumpin is gonna be crossup or not. I know some are very ambiguous thus difficult to detect, but you should really work on your reactions. There is no braindead solution as if you focus-dash, and your opponent’s jumpin was not crossup, you’ll get heavily punished.
Learn to block crossups. It takes time, but you have to be able to detect them.
trained some more with Ibuki today and played an average level Sagat in Endless. i did ok, i was happy with my performance since that was my first time using her against somebody.
i have a couple questions, though.
-
i know the inputs to do her target combo into ultra 2, but what order should you do them in? i’ve been able to land it a handful of times in training, but i’m not really sure what i did differently from the times i couldn’t land it. for example, when do you do df, dfu? should you start inputting them during the TC, or as the last punch hits, or what? any tips would be helpful.

i read that you should super jump into LP kunai for her crossup on the opponent’s wakeup. is this true, and if so, how/when do you do this? do you press super jump really quick and then immediately do the kunai motion, or is there a shortcut?
