On some matchups, should you refrain from sj into the vortex? On some characters like Cammy and Juri, my kunais miss every time going for the vortex. Could just be a miss time due to char. hitbox but its funny I never miss on Blanka for some reason.
I can’t see why a regular jump would be better than a superjump, unless maybe you landed a forward throw on your opponent and you’re going for a vortex.
Probably your timing is just off.
I wanted to ask, as I am still a new Ibuki player, about her slide. I have not been able to find a good combo from the slide or anything that would allow me not to have that limited moment of weakness. ( for l. jabs or anything weak but still. ) Can anyone direct me to a good combo string starting from her slide MK ?
The best you can do is link st.LP, but it the slide has to be done at a very specific range, unless it’s a counterhit.
Sorry, almost forgot about this. djWHEAT.tv on blip.tv It’s the Mike Ross vs. Buktooth video, around the 1:40ish mark. He gets Mike to the corner then HK dash behind and pulls it off.
What? You can’t cancel far.st.MP into a special. I have no idea wtf you’re talking about.
I’m pretty sure you can’t cancel far.st.MP into a special. So I have no idea wtf you’re talking about.
Oh. From the video, he did TC4 , st.LP , st.MK xx Neckbreaker. Not whatever fake combo you said.
My bad, first time I saw it there was some delay and I just thought it was far mp. Still didn’t know you could follow up like that after the target combo.
It’s just an easier loop than tsumuji. The jab after TC4 is a 2 or 3 frame link.
I have been living in training mode for the past weeks training and trying to see which SJC is less stressful. The 360motion or the Tiger knee motion?
PS: Love the thread it turned my Free-buki into Ibuki
Tiger knee motion is the way to go. Extra useless/wasted inputs generally isn’t a good idea, at least in the long run.
Thanks for the tips on the TK motion for SJC^ was looking for some info like this…been desperately trying to evolve from freebuki as well but have yet to reach my lvl up
i freaking can’t get the vortex going no matter how hard i try any advice i could be doing it wrong
Why is ultra 1 not listed in combos? I know you wont get the full effect since it wont grab but its still does more damage than most combos.
:lp:>:mp:>:hp:>Ultra 1 does 366 damage, the only thing I saw that did more after the TC was Ultra 2, EX :qcb::k:>Ex :hcb::p:, and Super. So if you dont want to waste 2 or more EX and you got Ultra 1 you can still get damage off it. It’s not the best application, but the combo is possible and will do the most damage without using EX from what I’ve seen.
U1 without animation barely does any more damage than a regular neckbreaker. Plus it doesn’t set your opponent up for the vortex and it’s ridiculously hard to SJC and HCB x2.
good stuff
two target combos with a cross up will stun super easy
damn this is in depth, thanks for the info this is something i’ve been trying to find
Quick tips for learning SJC U2
-First off, the motions are MUCH SLOWER than you think. If you spas out and mash QCFU too much or hit up too early or Kicks too early you’ll mess it up. Slow and steady wins the race.
-The motions really are as follows. lp mp (wait for second hit) QCF HP QCFU Kicks. Think of it as doing a projectile after the second mp hit and then doing a CD with all three kicks after it ending with up. Thats how I invision it in my mind and it works perfectly for me.
-Only do the SJC U2 to cutoff the vortex to end a round. Doing it mid round where it will NOT kill your opponent is a bad idea IMO. Doing U2 when it is not close to full meter or mid round does not set you up with another pressure situation plus, it does horrible damage. It also doesnt give you good space to set up a good wake up game at all really. Use it when your opponent has about 1/4 health on low defense characters and 1/8 on high defense characters.
Dont waste your time trying to learn u2 from CR HP because it really is never viable in match and is extremely hard to use during vortex.
Against Blanka, Guy, and others where TC4 will whiff use CR MP to cutoff vortex into SJC U2.
That’s my 5 cents.
i used to sjc u2 the way you describe… but i just came upon great knowledge that makes it alot easier from just doing a tiger knee motion as the first input AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, then doing a slower qcf or tiger knee motion to finish it off… makes it come out so much easier than the old method, for me.
i came across it by practicing cr.hp xx instant kunai… if i tried to do that combo regularly while i have super then it will always do a super instead of a kunai… so to overcome that i started to do the first super jump motion as fast as i humanly could after the cr.fp. then i waited for the buffer for the super to be gone and just did a kunai just as i got into the air… it made the combo easy and the super comes out way less… i transferred that info to her sjc from st.mk and her jump/super jump cancel from her close st.hk… these jump cancels are way easier for me now, and my percentage is up to about 70-80% whereas the old ones i was only at like 50% or so, depending on what day it was.

So what are the inputs for TK SJC U2?
