man, u give Vega way too much credit. He’s a decent matchup against Ibuki, but he ain’t THAT good.
he aint THAT good yes,but he aint THAT bad either.
Vega is a solid 6-4 in ibukis favor. We have the tools, and the damage output that he doesn’t, if we both play safe, ibuki will win everytime
60% of the time, we win everytime.
Shotos + Cammy.
If I manage to score a knockdown I eat a cannonspike/DP if I try to apply any pressure from there. The game then results in me forced into blocking for days as they spam special moves that I can’t punish without eating more cannonspikes/DP
If I land the kunai on wakeup, when i go to target combo on landing she throws out a cannonspike/DP and its a reversal somehow.
Your timeing your vortexs wrong? O.o
Even though the kunai connects and they get hitstunned?
Well if it was meaty enough then they woudent be able to counter?
I have a request. As of right now I have been practicing Ibuki’s SJC into ultra to for about 6-7 hrs and I cant seem to pull it off. Is there anyway you guys can make a slow motion video about it showing you hand movements at the same time? I mean show it in regular speed and then slow motion with the hand movements at the same time. Also I have seen players on previous videos pull it off on pad and the TE fight stick but mostly I see the TE fight stick being used. Is it easier on the fight stick then the pad? To me it seems like the movement and timing is better on the fight stick. Please help. Thank you.
I have been getting beat by grapplers today. I can pressure them to the point where they are gonna die, then they can throw out thier ultra mid crossup and its enormous hitbox will throw me no matter what i’m doing
I’m guessing you’re playing scrubs. Vs scrubs you need to learn how to bait their random reversals, and then punish, heavily. Like each time they wanna be scrub and throw a random dp, you block it, and FA , target combo , tsumuji loop , ending with neckbreaker, and then start vortexing. Big mistake for throwing that dp.
Looking for gaps in block strings takes alot of practice, especially against top players that really know how to frame trap. But I’m guessing you’re talking about scrubs and you probably mean they keep lp.shoryukening all day and you don’t know how to punish at all.
About the kunai thing, you’re definitely timing your kunai wrong. If your opponent is able to reversal out of it
AND hit you, then you’re doinitwrong.
Oh then you’re still definitely timing the kunai wrong, or at least not properly. If they’re hit with the kunai, you should have an enough frame advantage to start some combo.
This means you’re not doing a true block string (ie: they can mash out of it). Against grapplers, either gtfo or don’t leave any sort of gap in your strings, unless you wanna risk getting command thrown, or unless you’re predicting it and are about to raida.
:lp::mp:(one or two hits):hp::lp::mk: works on most people but not all is my timing off or just does not work
Thanks Mingo, I practiced my timings in practice mode and got up to 1111PP and 3k BP
EDIT: I am 100% convinced that there is noway to kunai a shoto on wakeup without eating a DP online. with the practice dummy set to do I can stuff it all day, but online it does not happen. If the kunai lands you will eat a DP before you can target combo.
Did we already know that target combo 3 can cross up? I just did it in training mode by accident.
You’re right. Online it’s impossible to stuff that with the delay. I think that’s what my problem is with the cross up. Offline I can hit it 90% of the time, but online I’m having it blocked or DP’s…and I’m starting to think it’s the delay/;ag.
Yeah I just got destroyed by a Sagat spamming tiger uppercut on wakeup and nothing would stop it. Online is a joke.
I can time my kunai vortex just fine online. Maybe you’re just playing people with like 1-2 red bars instead of 3-4 yellow/green bars?
Or, like, stop trying to do the vortex. Ibuki can generate offense in different ways; vortex shouldn’t be (and isn’t) the only way to win.
If you play smart, observe, and understand what your opponents are trying to do, then you’ll level up faster than trying to force a (failed) vortex on someone.
hmm i just made this vid for all newbies who wanna know some oki stuff for ibuki in general. tis all bout idea’s of Oki and situations, as well as some strings combos/ block strings/ push and pressure/ corner stuff…etc…by means a tutorial for Ibuki starters with some fun traps and stuff.
hope it might be useful to some

Cool I like that video. I saw some cool setups for U1, I never use U1 tho =/ nice mixups too
