She's a Fixxer upper: SSF4 Rose Fixxes

I’m against an overhead for her. I dont think she needs it imo. Would be nice, but I wouldnt ask for it. HA.

In my opinion, all char should have an overhead. Its more equal that way.

Well if some characters aren’t going to have one, i don’t think I want rose having one. If all characters have one then I’ll take it.

I don’t know why though…I feel like I would take advantage of it and rely on it…

Depends on the overhead, Ken/Sagat has one, but pple use it rarely.

Still, the fact that you have an overhead make one more thing to guess for your opponent even if u use it occasionally :).

Srsly against a gief who doesnt go forward at all once he has life lead, stay at his corner holding down back and tech throw, u have 1% chance to win at best lol.

Like her overhead would beat gief. At that range he would SPD or lariat anyways…so…whats it matter?

Why do people want Rose to have an overhead? Just go play one who already does.

What is the point of this topic if we cant wish something?

If u want better fireball, go play ryu, if u want better poke, go play chun, for juggle move go play gat.

Well i know what you mean Luffy…if we had to hope for something, why not hope big. But thats the thing…I could hope for a better fireball, a command throw, and over head, and an ultra that hits full screen…

What would the fun in that be?

I personally like the challenge of not being able to over head. I faced a 2000gp Sakura that beat me because the player just blocked all day and countered my attempts to get in. Literally…db all day. If I had an overhead, it would have been curtains.

Then I changed the game plan the 2nd time i met him/her in championship and destroyed them. Ha. I just played dumb i guess.

My point is…I enjoyed that loss…made me think smarter. The 2nd time It was very one sided because…well…I figured that person out.

I like rose’s vulnerabilities. It makes me play better. With that being said, if you were to get me a better wake up option, or more chances to mixup…i aint mad. ha!

*It would add to her mixup game on wakeup for characters that have weak wakeups and leads to other shenangiens depending on the speed of it and it’s properties on hit/block.

Against characters with weak wakeup option you can make them guess between overhead (possible combo followup), throw, close mk to bait a throw tech or a low hitting attack. It could help her out with some situations and matchups such as against Chun, Rog, and Honda who usually wakeup in crouch block. It could open those matchups a little bit more for her so she could possibly sustain more offensive momentum and have a better pressure game.

I don’t think this would make her overpowered but it would add a nice little extra dimension to her offensive game depending on her overhead properties. Hell even if they made her forward HK a overhead it could create some shenangians if she fadc a slow spark and make the opponent guess is she going to try to overhead, spark hits into ultra, or slide, spark hits into ultra or you could bait them to try to jump it for a regular old anti air ultra. *

mmm… if Rose had an overhead, then all chars should have one.

i dont think it is absolutely necessary. it would be nice for wake up mix ups and to break heavy turtles defenses, but no biggie.

She needs better reversal, thats what really kills her.

improved reflects (both fireball counter and attack move in combos) and the ability to juggle into SThrow to give her more options, thats all.

also, the ability to FADC into ultra after a special (reflect seems to be the better option) would put her close to the upper tiers.

a good Rose player with these tools, would be a player to fear, no doubt.

how about a instant overhead, like Chun’s j.HK?

she has one, j LK. Only hits larger chars tho.

But damage is like “lol”.

I’ve won matches with that lol damage. it’s better than trying to chip an enraged/metered zangief to death. every little bit counts.

And I’ve brought up before: She has a great cross-up. if she were to have an overhead also, then they’d have to take away from the cross-up (or something else) to justify. But overheads are slow and obvious anyway so that’s why I see her having one as rather pointless.

i agree with Metro. A great cross up and an overhead… it seems too much.

Cammy needs it more than Rose, in my opinion, because she has neither (ok, she has higher output damage combos, but thats what really Rose needs, not an overhead).

BTW, I have stuffed Balrog ultra with a backwards j LK hehe. It felt GREAT :slight_smile:

J LK is quite situational, but it has it uses, for sure!

now that i had time to look at it rose’s FA really just needs the
hit boxes adjusted thats its main problem.
With it, as of right now her Hit Box on FA is in the middle not towards the fron enough. so add the range and it should work alot better.

How can you say one chracater needs an overhead more then another
its not like we have Night/day long combos,millions of mix up’s or even high damge output. In the end i see rose with an OH as it cant hurt.(so long as Capcom does it right) I do agree we have a solid cross up but it not the end all be all if add a overhead. I have some combo ideas ill post later.

Good point about the fadc to ultra. I think a better means would be her ex fireball to ultra. All that would have to be done is make it either 3 hits or hot slower. Ever hit sagat with a well timed c.mk, ex spark, fadc. Ultra? No? Try it in training. It’s all about spacing. He’ll it might be a trial, heh.

Well sagat makes the spark hit slow. He gets knocked back from the first one. The second hit still travels as it follows him. When you ultra it just lands perfectly.

That’s what I want. Will make ultra more versitile.

Cammy loses to downback as much if not more than Rose in some cases and has even more difficult matchups with Boxer and Zangief than Rose does, two of the most notorious downbackers. She could use an overhead as well, or at least her friggin’ Hooligan Throw grabbing crouching characters.

Off the top of my head, which characters don’t have overheads? Rose, Dictator, Cammy, Seth, and Dan? Ignoring for the moment the weird coincidence that you have all four versions of Dictator (the current ‘real one’, two failed clones/alternate bodies, and Rose who is an offshoot of his powers or whatever blah blah) and Dan just 'cause he’s Dan, which of these characters have overhead specials? Dictator’s Headstomp, Seth’s Headstomps, that’s it?

In the cases of Cammy, Dan, and Rose, you have characters who are weakened in a vital part of the rock paper scissors of the game. Insta-overheads are great when performed jumping back to relative safety but don’t work on every character. People can literally sit in crouchblock and tech your throws all day and their only punishment is chip damage, which can be counteracted if whatever special did the chip was unsafe on block or if they predict one of your throw attempts and tag you with something.

I don’t think Dan even has an instant overhead with his jumping attacks IIRC. Overall you don’t see a ton of overheads actually hitting in SF4 which is partially due to their slow startup and partially because of the easy reversal window on wakeup. But neither of these facts makes overheads less important because of the simple fact that having one forces your opponent to deal with it.
