Wait… Wtf? That is in-game???
100% honest everything you see in the teaser looks way beyond expectations regardless of facial animations.
You should be grateful.

Graphically it’s fine, the animations aren’t great but it’s clear they’re being worked on. They should’ve held off on the trailer though, imo, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that was on Sony’s end.
EDIT: Also this
I wonder how many of you are going to be mad when this train wreck of a game gets released?
Even if this is a Unfinished, Beta Footage. I think Fans are not going to be happy with the final product regardless.
Were going to get another Mighty No 9 situation here with rumors that the Shnmue III games already burned thought their budgets.
Or maybe don’t let the Devs also be the PR Team.
I think im gonna wait for it to come out before I form an opinion.
Guess it needs that disclaimer in red for the real dumb people
AKA Kotaku.
‘A work in progress, not indicative of the final product’
‘Rough estimate % complete’
Dragon masks and teaset were really hyper detailed.
Yeah people definitely tripping. If we went a long period of time without seeing shit then people would be worried.
We get a little trailer showing how the game looks and some goofy faces for a game a year away has people up in arms. Even if the faces :did look good in the trailer, they still wouldnt be the final product look
Not sure if you were drunk when you wrote this. If it means what i think it means and what you mean to say…Do you have a source that can back that statement?
This video, I picked out that rumor statement from the video already posted before me.
Yu needs a better PR Team

I just seeing if the game don’t live up to the hype and the rumor is even half-true, you will have a situation similar to Mighty No 9.
The internet hate machine will fill in the gaps for us.
I always saw Shenmue as the story of Akira. Akira does Chinese martial arts and looks like he could be an older Ryo. Ryo is 16 in Shenmue btw
ryo was 18 in shenmue
one of the reasons that i think people are wary of the lack of facial expressiveness is because it gives the impression that theyre intentionally trying to replicate the campy, dreamcast-ish vibe to appeal to nostalgic players. the cheesiness was part of the charm of the og games, but cheese like that is only good when its done by accident. i get that they arent going to do this, but its an understandable kneejerk reaction.
still going to play this somehow even though i dont own a ps4 or a gaming pc
Virtua Fighter fighting engine is out. The game may and new fighting engine may turn out again, but that’s a shot in the nuts for me. Probably dropped due to complexity and the dev schedule. They state they move towards something based around judgment more than timing I got faith in Suzuki vs other devs, he’s got a certified list of classics… But we’ll see.
I wouldn’t exactly say the VF engine did Shenmue favors so this isn’t exactly a bad thing.

That’s your opinion and its valid. I didn’t like the camera, but I enjoyed grinding and actually changing the frame data of the moves. Shenmue did a # of things deep and at the least good, I’d hate something less complex & worse to make it into the game as a replacement.
That original fighting mechanic was genius. It’s weird how people can’t see that
That bit about the combat system again has me worried. The way he describes it sounds more akin to something you’d see in a point n click than the game’s action adventure roots.

[/quote]very nice interview and great update about Shenmue 3.
just wish they had some new footage in there as well.

the genre can and will evolve.
who better to improve the combat system than Yu Suzuki himself?
the integration of QTE’s in Shenmue was a watershed moment for videogames at the time, who knows what he’s cooking up now?
i personally wish them all the best.
