Unlike all of you I get both sides of the moral argument here and I’m not so ignorant as to judge a situation without knowing all the details, some of you like dab00g latch onto one or two pieces of info and put the blinders on. Two people broke into my house last December on a Saturday morning from the back door, I heard footsteps rush upstairs so I locked my door I had no idea what they looked like or if they were carrying weapons or how many there were. I called 911 asking if I should jump out my second story window or open my door and fight them, the operator just said stay in your room even though the burglars were opening my door while I was asking 911 what to do. It was one of the scariest moments of my life I had no idea what to do and thought I might get shot or stabbed, I figured if I jumped out my window I’d break my legs and be an easy target, so I opened the door saying “called the cops assholes get the fuck out”. It was two guys probably in their early 20’s one was a tall skinny middle eastern guy, the other a short fat Asian they looked at each other dropping the bags and ran out of the back door they broke in from. WIthout thinking, just pure reaction I chased them through my backyard with a knife I keep under my bed and the Asian tripped on a rock, but quickly got up running through my neighbors backyard before getting in a blue van waiting for them at the end of my block.
The detective who came over that day said I’d have been within my rights if anything happened to either of them. Remember the story about my mom’s stalker living in my house for over a year undetected and then having chased him on my street and holding a knife to his throat? A cop told me I did the right thing then too.
So back to the issue at hand…I’m torn I personally wouldn’t have killed the woman if possible, but I can see how the fear may have taken over the old guy’s mind so until all the facts of the situation come out I’m not condemning him.

This is bullshit, the serious nature of the crime wasnt the fact they were in his house looting, it was they attacked a 80 year old man. They could have killed him, the crime is way more severe than some house breaking shit.
In the tussle the old man got his gun in his hand, they tried to bail… slow one didnt make it.
