Sharpening my claws.. Vega(Claw) Wants/Needs

That’s the thread right there - the only thing missing is increase the speed on his slide.

Make his links work on more than just the gimp half of the cast that no one uses in tourneys.

Make his wall dives a tad faster and have less recovery

Better tracking on his Ultra

Some invulnerability on EX Scarlet Terror or EX Somersault. Not both.

It would be convenient of Vega’s Ultra had an invincible start up, and/or the actual Ultra had wider hit boxes.

I wouldn’t mind if cr.hp would hit crouching opponents, or be usefull as an anti air.

It would be nice if they fixed the scrolling bug, or better yet let Vega control it. That is, if the screen scrolls when he goes for a wall dive, maybe by like holding the button down?

Also I groan IRL when I lose my claw when I focus absorb a hit

I have got the best vega hands down NO competition:smile: scrubs stop complaining.
All he needs in CFR improve and invisible frame ST.

I don’t play Vega, but I always felt his Ultra should be controllable.

I think Vega is kind of alright where he stands now, but at the same time I think he needs just a little bit more. Maybe just a way or two to combo into his ultra would be just fine, and maybe one move with invulnerability frames. I main Vega exclusively, and I can win most of my fights. Vega has been my main since 1991, and I don’t care how nerfed he gets, I will always main him.

Vega is great the way he is, but he can certainly use some improvements.
I think his RCF is fine the way it is, it’d be great if the start-up was less, but already you can combo into it, so I don’t understand why people are requesting it.

His Scarlet Terror does have invincibility frames, I believe. I once did an EX Scarlet Terror while Ryu was doing Super, and I didn’t get hit. He ate my Scarlet terror. lol
But I do agree that he should have better options at the corner.
Not sure what that could be…
But I do think that his RCF should hit just like Gen’s roll.
Right at Start-up, it should hit.
That’s how it was in SF2 Turbo.

His Izuna drop is fine the way it is.
Any more hit box on that thing and it’d be way cheap. Just learn to land the throw the way I did.

I’ll prove to you how good Vega is, i’m not the best, but I certainly will kick your butts if you don’t watch out…

BTW, Vega’s pokes are awesome, let’s hope they don’t nerf that…
The whole Mask/Claw removal HAS TO GO…
I think they just began hating Vega after HD remix.
He was High tier… It’s kinda sad that he went to lowest tier… =[

Gezz, I mean, I can do a Scarlet Terror, and with right timing, I can do the Ultra, and exactly as the opponent is going down, the purple line of death goes right through him without hitting him… I think that would be a great option =]

The damage on his Ultra should be the same way it is when he has his mask removed, and his claw on… It does a good 500pts of damage…
If they do intend to keep the whole mask/claw removal thing, then they should make his ultra when he has his mask off and claw on around 600pts of damage.

It would be fair since Vega losses about 300pts of damage when his mask is removed (seriously!!!)…
So every time i’m blocking and my mask goes off, i’m like, “DAMN! I just lost 300 pts of damage!” wtf, huh?

I think since it occurred to them that he might be easier to win with in the newer game (not easy, just easier), and maybe people who remember the buffs he got from SF2T to SSF2T with his ST and a super that only used up the meter if it landed are hoping history repeats itself.

Oh, and Zerodemise, his EX ST can go through fireballs (I think there’s still some timing involved) but a deep jump in or cross-up kick can still beat it. I think what people are asking is that it be made back into an all-purpose anti-air like in super turbo, as opposed to a situational anti-air (if you predict a jump-in, it works pretty well).

I don’t think Vega will become so powerful that we have to worry about him becoming the next Ryu in being over used.

No one’s even posted in the Vega forum since yesterday, not counting Rizhall’s quotes in the improvements thread (and I would love to see characters stepping on his claw and being stabbed - especially since a lot of them are barefoot).

  1. Reliable anti air (biggest problem)

  2. Make the range of izuna drop wider OR make it so that you recover faster if you miss instead of having him bounce around all slow to eat free ultras.

  3. Make his ultra better or make it so that he can connect the ultra from a combo.

Those 3 are his main problems, everything else isnt too bad. Dont tamper with his pokes, those are fine.

Improve priority of scarlet terror
Increase Izuna range
allow him to combo into ultra from scarlet terror
increase range overall
Combo into ultra from Ex wall dive

Even if they didn’t change anything about him, I’d still play Vega. Unless they took away his mask and claw and made him ugly, then it wouldn’t really be the same.

It would be great if Blanka’s HP horizontal roll landed a little closer after block though, same distance as Honda’s HP headbutt would do (close enough for a st MK).

  • “Piece of Mercury” becomes an overhead
  • Faster wall dives
  • Less recovery on wall dives
  • Slightly larger frame of opportunity to land Izuna. It’s possible for me to land it 9/10 times on an idle opponent. I’d prefer 10/10.
  • Invincibility on scarlet terror start-up, ala shoryuken. If you put out a meaty attack when Vega is rising he can’t do anything about it but block, which lets you go for a free 50/50 with either an overhead or a throw.
  • Faster start-up on rolling moves.
  • Slightly quicker movement in general.
  • Combo into Ultra.
  • More damage for super.
  • No more losing mask or claw. Or if that is still in, no debuffs besides just losing some range on punches.
