SG - A:Championship Mode

Fucking-a-right.

Online can eat a dick. Now that I’m playing good people locally, I literally cannot tolerate online anymore. Even in “fast” four bar matches I can SEE the lag…it never used to bother me when all I did was play online.

People, do whatever you have to do, to find local competition…its worth whatever it takes.

just wondering if you ever fought that dude on #1?
sure he doesn’t perform any flashy combos or anything but sure he’s hard to beat, he knows so well the spacing for balrog, and his timing is really really good, his style is very aggressive too, imo he’s one of the best balrog i ever fought although his style is different from the rest…

Dude if you are in D.C. there are tons of gathering in the area. Hit the matchmaking thread and you will see.

i dont think i have. i main rog though and i dunno, when i watched it i just was not impressed with either of the play in the match. didn’t really have to do w/flashyness or anything, but there were times where i’m like WTF is he doing?

i don’t remember the video detailed cause it was a few days ago i watched it but i also thought i remembered him blowing some opportunities where he coulda punished the dude badly.

Thanks a ton for this dude I’ll see if I can make some connections there

you know, there are more countries other than UUEE and Japan… where local tourneis are just utopic.

online is the only thing we have. Of course, we can create online tourneis with friends though…

the best players ive fought online is through player matches. I fought a BEASTLY Ken yesterday and realized how long it had been since I fought a good shoto that knew how to use his mixups. Forced me to adapt, try and break old bad online habits on the spot, and really get on my A game. In the end it was 10 wins to my 5. This guy’s links were perfect, Kara-throws were brutal, mixups were excellent, poke pressure was great, no wakeup DPs EVER unless I tried jumping in, and excellent use of Tatsu.

It’s been so long since my Bison has gotten a throw tech off of FADCing through a shoto crouching forward that it actually felt GOOD. God I wish I had an arcade scene here in southern South Korea.

I’ve just accepted that there are two games, online and offline. The whole online sucks thing? Yeah it does.

Deal with it cause its here to stay. It runs rampant on this board (the complaining) and I’m guilty of it myself (especially the throw lag tactics), but its essentially part o the game and won’t go away. Sure there are some REAL bad lag matches where its almost unplayable (you’ll see me eventually just stand there not doing anything to get the match over with), but most online matches are playable, just differently from offlinne - plain and simple. There are online strategies that only really ‘work’ online, but that doesn’t devalidate them.

QFT…i honestly or stupidly thought that after the 3s xbl days and GGPO the streetfighter online experience would be better.

I will admit that the comp is better in G1. i got there last week. ive even challenged some guys to matches to get some sets. But the lag tactics are in full effect lol everynow and then though i get lucky enough to run into someone with a pretty good connect and some true skill

I wish you’d fix your connection for PSN. You make me a sad panda every time it lags. =(

ok i watched it again last night.

i still think the first 2 rounds are pretty bad and don’t really impress at all (both players). infact, i stopped watching it after the 2nd round the first time i watched it.

but i watched it all last night, and in that 3rd round, you are right. he has great spacing and plays very solid using a lot of normals.

i still did see a few holes he had wide open that he did not convert from though.

Agreed on the replay, but it only was one match and nobody plays a perfect game every time… damn that sounds like I’m praising the guy hahaha, but I’m not

im sorry but im sad for yoou fucks who play and get to even G1.

fuck online

I didn’t realize how much grind was involved till I decided to rtry and get out of G2 (I played champ when it first came out and eventually went back to player matches)

I just don’t have the time to get to G1 wow…

Are people still playing championship mode??

When I was in G2 I had high hopes for g1 so i played it because i thought i’d finally start to face decent players.
After getting to g1 and making 3k gp in just a few days I realized that it was the same shit as g2. Didn’t touch championship mode ever since.

Player matches are the way to go (if online is the only option)

i totally agree. i played almost exclusively online since launch, but now i invite buddies over or go to denjin and play real people and it WOOORLDS better. and going back to online just pisses me off. even jut a split second of lag drives me up the wall now.

i still play it about every other day tho just to keep sharp cuz i usually only make the drive to denjin on the weekends. but just being a part of the scene is so much more rewarding than just being on your own couch at home trying to tough it out through laggy matches. but yea people, go to matchmaking and find people near you and get together and play in person, you wont regret it!!!

The #1 guy on psn has 80kgp with Seth and he’s fucking terrible. He doesn’t do any combos or spd setups he just jumps around like a fairy and he wins because he’s in like Mexico and his connection is godawful so people can’t block crap if they react normally. You can’t win enough to get to G1 and still be good because playing so many random shitty players in such a small period of time just forces you to get into patterns and makes you suck too.

Haha this is so true, That Djdelvalle guy is the funniest thing ive ever seen , he literally jumps from left to right for the whole 90 seconds , and mashes Ex Srk every chance he gets. His connection is godawful aswell, he is the epitome of online.

the problem with player matches though, is that you so often encounter people just trying out a new char or something like that, it can take hours before you find someone to play good matches with. Although when you do, it’s worth it

i think recently a lot of people have quit playing champship mode. i hadn’t played in awhile and all of a sudden it got way way easier. i went from g2-D to g2-B in less than two weeks playing pretty casually. i was really suprised at how many flowchart cammys and kens i ran into that were g2-A. occasionally you’ll run into some decent people, but I can easily roll through opponents with guys that aren’t even one of my 4 mains.

that’s another thing, when playing online, i use 4 mains. back when it was more competative, i only had 2. i have gotten better, but everyone else has gotten worse as well.
