Liking the game so far, rough animation and all. I really like the charge attack system, too. Notice the crossup tag during Ken’s forward roll? Nice. I am now noticing how the healthbar is hard to read. They need to tone down the ‘fire frame’ effect. Otherwise I don’t mind the colors like others do. The dramatic throw camera shots should be toned down just slightly - but perhaps I could get used to it. I do love the up-close cuts of high impact hits (from Tekken!), lets you KNOW what time it is.
By the way, if this game is truly adapting Tekken mechanics, it will have more mixup games than SSF4. Anybody has questions about that ‘strange game called Tekken’ I’m happy to share whatever I can. I’m excited to see a system blending two games I love! When it’s all said and done and launched I predict this game will be huge.
Edit:
OH PLEASE GOOD NETCODE! If there will be a 4plyr mode it would be hype online (but offline would be a given). Can’t let Mortal Kombat snub you on the tag team multiplayer front! lol
It better not be. Comeback mechanics ruin hype. Not that much of you handle it correctly like ssf4(You actually have to land it, and you getting caught by one is your own fault) and tekken 6 (you pretty much have to hope that you aren’t in a combo for that last couple of pixels, and in Tekken? Rare)
I don’t ever want to see an x-factor return in a video game again.
Besides, it’s not like comeback mechanics are required, you only have to kill one character (wish it wasn’t like this, this is like the pickles of the Tekken burger.)
You’re right, good netcode does not make a bad game good, the problem is, why should I bother getting the game, regardless of its quality, if I don’t even have the opportunity to play it properly? It could be the best damn FG in the history of the world, but if the online sucks, it’s still worthless to me.
Both things are important, and if you can’t do one without the other, you do not deserve to be a developer PERIOD.
Doesn’t Kazuya’s “sprite” get flipped, Street Fighter style, depending on which side of the screen he stands? So on one side he’s using his right arm and on another he’s using his left?
So if you can’t two two unrelated jobs you shouldn’t be making games at all? Netcode lies in Capcom’s programmers, pointing at the designers for fault unless they are also the head programmers is a bit silly. It’s like blaiming Mike Z for Skull Girls being “stupid weeaboo shit” (not something I believe Skull Girls is at all).
by all means please go ahead and tell me specifically what can be improved, since you seem to be saying you know something about the engine’s networking implementation that no one else does
This game has mad potential but I can’t help the negative feeling I’m getting seeing how slow
the gameplay is. I’m sure this could be subject to change, or even better, an option for
increase/decrease, but still…
This build is probably as far along as the MvC3 Evo build, back when everyone only had very very basic combos and air dashes. Bob’s follow up (reportably) doesn’t even work yet. Game’s still got a far way to go.
King’s kick DP followup didn’t seem to be working either. That and considering how unpolished graphically speaking this game looks, that’ve must been a really early build.
Plus, even if that’s the current build, Ono said that the game is only about halfway complete. There’s a ton of room for improvement.
