SFxTekken General Discussion Thread

Interesting bullshit. Earlier on this same page:

Now which post was fighting words? In fact a whole page was wasted because *you *wanted to make an issue out of nothing.

Again, you continue to post off topic material.

Anyway.

So it seems you can play the Tekken characters with the four (face) buttons and be equal footed. I’m wondering how far Tekken combos will go, and how special cancels will mix it up. I imagine Kazuya’s corkscrew sweeps are motion-button moves now… that will be strange for a while. King, I believe, will translate well!

Generally I agree with this sentiment. However, in SSF4 and in Arcade Edition, I believe the ultra mechanic is completely fine. Ultras are basically a compensator for the fact that super combos are so much harder to earn in the SF4 series due to the introduction of FADC’s. If meter was gained like in Super Turbo, every special move would be an EX and every blocked move would be FADC’d.

So ultras in Super and in AE feel more like an alternative way to built that meter and get that cool super combo that can swing a round. In vanilla, they felt much more like an artificial comeback mechanic, but it’s so very very rare to see someone actually mount a true comback solely because ultras are in the game anymore. They’re simply not that good. They’re good, but they’re not good enough to make a bad player start winning more matches.

In past games, not having meter to perform a super combo during a comeback attempt was largely the exception and not the rule anyway. So does it really matter, assuming good balance of the move itself, of course, how that meter was gained?

Seeing how dark and Tekken-esque (somewhat realistic-looking, although still with those weird sf4 artistic touches) the intro is…this game has a long way to go. Right now it’s like the intro and the current game are from 2 different projects. The intros for sf4 and ssf4 matched the games because both the intros and the games have a mix of kinda serious and kinda silly/light-hearted elements. This intro is serious as hell, while the current build of the game still has those silly “wild takes” and sf4’s bumbling idiots in a couple backgrounds…here’s hoping things match up in the final build(s).

Woah, can’t believe I missed this post.

Ultras work JUST LIKE supers in ST, which was a very high risk high reward game. Ultras are only effective if you actually hit someone with them, which is the opponents fault, not the game mechanic.

this game looks really shitty in my opinion I can’t believe capcom went with the sfiv visuals again instead of building a new graphic style, this game deserved it.

lazy ass prigs, I’m sure they just want to put this game on sell as soon as possible so they can get the moneys

Tech rolling is MAD slow.

Lets just hope that Ono knows this and is ready to make certain parts of his game faster. (Jumping, Tech Rolling, Every single move in the game, etc…)

I like the super meter use in this game actually. THe whole charging for Sonic Hurricane or Shin Shoryuken seems wierd. However i like getting meter for hurting people.

Your like one of the few who didn’t know they were going to do this. If they built an all new graphics engine we’d only have a total of like 24 characters. You also act like copy and pasting is new to capcom or any other big buisness.

This. I echo this sentiment %100.

Every proper new 3d fighter uses completely new models (VF, Tekken, SC). Even TTT2 is using new models and will have around 45 characters plus tons of outfits/custom clothes.

If their using 3d models in SF now can’t they change it up? Though I expect them to improve the problem is the SF4 models looked pretty bad in the first place.

ummmmmmmm no it isn’t.

???

If that’s a new model then Evil Ryu is not a shoto.

considering it was made on hardware that’s near identical and considering the new aim for the models in TT2 are more anime like which makes all characters closer to xioayu’s model in nature, based on that I’d have to say that Evil ryu is not a shoto but a demon who prefers to use shoto moves :wonder:

I wonder if they’ll use any elements of SFIV in the game besides the art style. Looks like it’ll be a much faster paced game for better or worse.

Yay I finally got a answer back from ONO! After like 20 questions regarding Jack since they showed the trailers

Yoshi_OnoChin Yoshinori Ono
What kind of JACK’s version do you want ? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: RT

I like!

If you want to help me to get Jack in SF x Tekken please send Ono a message regarding Jack-6!

I was wondering about that before we saw the trailers. IMO, Ryu’s model looks like they changed it up a bit.
