I already like the way he is…although I wouldn’t mind if they gave him his just frame demolition man (with blue effects), kinda like they gave Kazuya his EWGF
And I would never give away his mortar punch, It’s one of the coolest move he has I think, it reminds me alot of Terry (one of my mains in KOF)
As far as I know, Tekken characters don’t have any normals that are rapid cancelable ?
Unless u mean normals canceling into special, I don’t think that the “street fighter mechanic” allows you to cancel specials into normals, at least I’ve never seen any character have a special that’s cancelable into normal…
Holy crap I leave for a week on vacation and the Technical Paul talk just explodes. It’s just as well as I have little idea what you are talking about, but it makes me excited anyway!
I can totally imagine the Paul guys sitting in a suit in a gents club, smoking cigars, enjoying a glass of the finest whiskey and debating about the newest Paul tech. x)
When I looked at the 2013 trailer that was out about a month ago, there was a combo where Paul did EX Shredder (3 hits) -> cr.HP -> Phoenix Smasher on Demon Flipping Akuma for a 5-hit combo showing that EX Shredder’s invincibility was increased. However, his shredder adds 1 juggle point on each hit and then 2 juggle points on the last hit, which means Phoenix Smasher, which has a juggle potential of 4, shouldn’t have comboed (1st hit doesn’t add any juggle point since it was the first hit in a combo and simply knocked down Akuma, 2nd hit adds 1, 3rd hit should add 2, cr.HP should add 1, total being juggle point of 4. Anything with a juggle potential of 5 or above like Paul’s EX PS should’ve worked). I am pretty sure that there is a change that Capcom didn’t mention. There are 3 possibilities:
The 3rd hit of (EX) Shredder adds 1 juggle point instead of 2.
Non-EX Phoenix Smasher has juggle potential of 5 instead of 4.
Both 1 and 2
The 1st possibility will possibly add completely new juggle combos if the change is applied to non-EX as well (however, due to the change in which the 3rd hit of Shredder will be doing the least damage the new combos may not be as optimal).
The 2nd possibility will add 1 more normal before a finisher into a non-EX Phoenix Smasher in current juggle combos, resulting in more solo combo damage and meter gain (with a start-up and recovery buff to far st.HP + a start-up buff to cr.HP this may make the link possible after an air-to-air knockdown or a switch cancel)
I think they streamlined ex shredder to the non-ex version. who knows, maybe it wasn’t intentional that it gives a different combo opportunity (just as hp smasher wasn’t intended to be semi usable on block). so I guess option 1 (if that is how normal shredder works).
Actually no, the same rule applies to non-EX Shredder as well. It is impossible to combo into anything other than EX Phoenix Smasher (I think) after a full Shredder -> heavy normal. Fortunately this should be easy to test after 2013 comes out by trying to juggle with a medium normal after Shredder. If it juggles, then it’s #1. If not, then it’s #2. I’m personally hoping for #2 as it would be more useful for Paul.
I just remembered that I often used c.hp xx lk shredder, c.hp xx smasher, but I just tested it and it only hits twice, so that’s the reason why I was confused. x)
the more I think about it, the more likely I think that shredder was reduced in his juggle count. smasher having a potential of 5 would make ex smasher mid-combo vs airborne now comboable into normal smasher, or in any cases where ex smasher is applicable but not normal smasher.
