SFxT matchup youtube show idea

So, I had an idea to put together a youtube tutorial show, but rather than do it for a character or the set up, do it about a matchup. I don’t see this type of thing a lot, and I think it’s a massive gap in the knowledge base that could be provided to level up people’s games.

I’m here to ask for help though, as I don’t have knowledge of the matchups myself, which is part of the reason that I want to make this is so I can learn them as well. I have already decided the first matchup I want to cover is Asuka Vs. Abel. I have a feeling this matchup is in Asuka’s favor, but whenever I run into an Abel, I just get blown up because I don’t know what to do.

I will recognize anyone who help with this in the credits of the show, along with anyone who wants to donate Art or Music. I don’t expect to get anything beyond the information, and I will say that I can’t offer any monetary compensation for any work you’ve done, but I will recognized you in the video.

I hope you like this idea, and please, leave any suggestions, information, or even things I can actually use in the show to make it better.

That actually sounds like an awesome idea…I usually tend to look up youtube videos looking to exploit weaknesses in other characters…Off the top of my head, I would like to see a King vs Juri matchup video (With what to do against Juri using King, or any character…Actually, maybe you might get more hits if you do a general “What to do against X Character” since it might be daunting trying to do every character matchup possible. Now that I think about it, aren’t there videos where they have “How to punish a Blanka Ball” with every character (that can)? Just throwing my two cents in there…Hope you get this off the ground!<div><br></div><div><br></div>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Thanks for the suggestion, and I’m glad to see someone has actually seen this post. I’ll keep your suggestions in mind, and definitely work on it. I have the first 5 minutes of audio done for the first episode, which will be part one of the Abel vs Asuka Matchup, which is just covering some moves and looking at a little bit of the theory behind it.</span></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>As for why I don’t do, what to do against x character is because I want to get into the particulars and make a match-up chart so people can start making teams that cover each other’s bad ,match-ups. In regards to King vs. Juri, I can definitely do the theory section of it, but as I don’t play either character, I would need some outside help, and since match-ups are based all on the actual player more than the theory I think it is important to talk to people who play those characters and get their viewpoints.</span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I will definitely look into punishing Blanka Ball, so I’ll get back to you on that one.</span></font></div>

There is a match critique thread posted months before.  It will be better if we try reviving this one:<br><br>Street Fighter X Tekken Match Critique Thread

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><font size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>First off I didn’t notice that was around, but I made this specifically to help jump start this show, gauge if people were interested and get help with this show. Now that you’ve shown me this i will help revive it, but this one will stay up in regards to this, as this is something very different than what you’ve shown me. This is about character v character and not two players and how they play. It’s not match </span></font><span style=“line-height: normal;”>analysis</span><font size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>, it’s a lot more theory fighting about match-ups</span></font></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Also, an open call, if someone plays Abel in SFxT and is on PSN, send me a message on PSN so I can get some footage playing you for the show. my PSN id is puzzlepirateking</span></font></div>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I think this is a good idea. The match critique thread is something a little different IMO. f I Had means to record better I’d totally help you out with this. It could help a lot of players, not  just new ones.</span></font>

This is something that was  discussed for a while.<br><br>We came to the
conclusion that doing long write ups to help one person is a “wasted
opportunity” because it’s only helping a fraction of players that use
those specific characters in those specific matchups/situations.<br><br>But
doing a general video tutorial or show (like Jibbo and Ryan Hunter are
doing/have done in the past) is much better. This not only reaches more
people, it’s also more useful to more players.<br><br>For example,
instead of helping a Dudley/Steve player improve his footsies and
maximize his personal team combos, it’s smarter to generally talk about
footsie techs in SFxT and talk about combo optimization (stuff that
applies to all characters). This makes it more interesting for more
people and keeps it from being too character/matchup specific. Otherwise
you end up repeating the same advices over and over again.<br><br>Again
in this case, instead of specifically talking about THE Asuka vs Abel
matchup (which I’m guessing not much players care to know about), it’d be smarter to
generally talk about Abel. Kinda like <a href=“https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Y87Kk0lE8”>Cross-Counter’s matchup mondays.</a>
This is already much more interesting for more people. It’s useful for
players that are trying to learn Abel and useful to players that have
trouble dealing with Abel.<br><br>Ryan Hunter has already started doing something similar with his character primers:<br><br>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YW2e3EDCrk<br><br>This is what we need more of.<br><br>

Thank you Vulcan for pointing that out, and you do have some fair points, but this series is looking more at these specifics and these smaller points so people understand this match-up better. Asuka v Abel is the first one because it’s one that I, as an Asuka player, had trouble with knowledge wise and wanted to learn more about, and thought I’d share what I find with the world through a video series like the one I’m working on now. While general information is useful, some of these specifics for each characters can change outcomes of matches. Like, I have found that, as Asuka, you can do your anti-air throw, with good enough reactions or predictions, to beat out wheel kick. That type of information isn’t something you would find in a general primer, but in this match-up, it’s something important to know on both sides, which is more what I was going for. I hope that better explains the point of this series, what I want to do with it and why I made it in the first place.

Do what you want.<br><br>Just saying there are 50 characters in the game
and that potentially means you’ll make 50 episodes talking about Abel
in slightly different ways. Or 50 episodes just to cover all of Asuka’s
matchups. Sounds like a chore to me so I wouldn’t participate in such a
project. Not to mention knowledgeable players are few and far between. I
mean really knowledgeable like knowing a lot about a lot of characters.
I only know my characters so you won’t see me talking about Bob or Ogre
for example.<br><br>If I find some matchup specific tech, I’ll write it
up in the matchup thread and maybe make a quick video to illustrate
what I found. But making a 15-30 min episode for all possible matchups
seems a little too time consuming. Unless you’re just planning to cover the really bad matchups, that’s already more reasonable but still would require a lot of high level knowledge and time.<br>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>As I can tell we have differing opinions Vulcan, this will be my final statement to you on this.</span></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I will say, straight out that I don’t know a lot about a lot of characters, and probably never will, so for every character, even the ones I know, I will consult other people who play said characters. Getting different view points and different people who play the same character but in different styles is an important thing to look at.</span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>The other thing is that, after this first set of episodes for the Abel V Asuka match-up and one more set after that, all of my match-up I want to be provided by people in the community, so I’ll be focusing on the ones people actually want to hear about. These first two sets are just to help me get my feet under me and having an understanding of how I will set this show up. I don’t intend to do all match-ups for all characters, at least not initially. IF I get to that point, I get to that point, but it would take year, and I know that. That’s not what I’m striving for, I’m striving to help out player with what they ask for.</span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I respect your opinion, and who you are to this community Vulcan, but we differ here, and I respect that, and I hope that you can respect it as well.</span></font></div>
