SFxT LA Fight Night review

The game seems wonkey right now. Some chars do waay to much damage and some take waay to much.
They’re probably tweaking it a lot per build.

The chain thing seems wierd to me…
But perhaps they want you to chain of certain normals. Else everyone would just go LMHxxSpecialxxtag cancelxxLMHspecial.

Past time. By all appearances this game is the product of the worst aspects of hammy Ono design philosophy -both visual and structural- without the supervision and editing necessitated by established formula of mainline series. It’s a trainwreck. Six months out from release and the visuals still look horrible, the ‘new’ gameplay mechanics gimmicky and ill conceived, and, perhaps most damning of all, very little in the way of positive changes seen between preview builds- only more crap slapped on top of the other crap that was there before.

I’m pretty sure no one wants Pandora to be useful. In fact, IMO we should all tell Seth, Ono,et al that it needs nerfing just to make sure it’s not useful at all.

As far as I can tell they haven’t addressed any of the issues from SF4 at all. Most notably the ridiculously slow walk speeds which leads to an incredibly anemic footsie game. And I hear throws got even WORSE, which exacerbates the problem.

I have been disappointed with this game since i saw those crappy ass graphics that look like a downgrade from ssf4.

the over heads look like they will be used a lot, this game is going to end up like MK9/MVC3/SSF4

to bad the things i loved about all those games will be the things there taking out.

mk9- blood/guts

mvc3- amazing visuals and huge flash combo’s

ssf4- sickly hard awesome combo’s, fadcing, good graphics, fun zoning and footsys…

one can argue the graphics are good still, but there deff not an upgrade, and i think they look like pure shit… im not sure about the zoning so much, but it seems like its almost completly gone from SFxT and footsys is kinda there, but not the good kind.

When did this turn into a hate thread?

Hate thread? You mean people giving their opinions and thoughts on the game?

Man taking a rewind from all this just fells so weird. I’m already nostalgic about its original reveal.

You know before the blotchy artstyle, chains, the out of nowhere guest characters, practically useless Pandora mode, Cross assault which would have been better off as a spare game play mode not something you consider in battle and the eventual ‘oh we’ll have to settle with these’ characters most were predicting. (Not a problem in the 'Super" update If it has more roster room than UMvC3 however :P)

But hell I’d still give it a shot. I’ll see If I can make it to BAM to try it provided I get some time for it after some SCV. Anyone got anything they want me test out?

I don’t understand the complaints about the “blotchy artstyle” (which I believe looks a lot better than Super, seems smoother), and Pandora mode is stil early in the loke tests so it might get some more uses (but wait, isn’t that what we DON’T want?). As for the Cross Assault, from what I’ve seen the timer runs out and since your partner doesn’t start out behind the opponent, positioning him/her there will require some mind games for the unblockable setups everyone fears will come out of it.

I really don’t know why everyone is so angry at this game! But if you’re going to test something out, could you see if you can combo into Dry Launcher (HP+HK I think) from LM?

I was really hyped for that game when i saw that Rolento will be there. Then i saw Pandora and crazy Gems, read the review and now i am like “Who cares anymore”. Hopefully they will revamp a lot until release so it´ll be worth it to invest some time.

Man, the thing that makes me worry is that chain not canceling into specials and damaging getting ridiculously hight… I mean, look at the EVO build and look TGS ones, you can see the damaging being WAY more reasonable on the EVO build (by reasonable I mean “on point”), I mean, in a game that everything is combo, I see that as a possible problem (i hope not).

You have any videos bro?

Sounds like Zangief broke another game.

But yeah in terms of competitive play… its looking kinda… eh whats with all these rainy day nothing to do Arcade mode mechanics" I know its not finished and all these mechanics are still going through the ringer but I and obviously others cannot see ourselves using Pandora in its current state. Same with the … Cross Assault system, the thing with 2 characters at once for full meter. I personally do not get it or how it could be all that useful. Then the overall flow of combat, the lp,mp,hp SWITCH! mp,hp,special then try to do it again was boring to watch and to do.

Alot of it seems more like random for fun mechanics which is fine I guess but im hoping for more honestly.

Game itself looks more than fun to play but actually doing so was not as connected as I was expecting. I’d be lying if I said I was expecting more from this right now 99% of my support of this game is in its roster of characters left out of SF4 and the urge to try out tekken characters with SF mechanics.

Have not given up on this game by any means but my hype has plateaued for now. Hopefully someone can find out some more tricks or hopefully they get added.

Game still has a way to go, people flocked UMvC3 b/c of the new characters, more hype considering the release is soo close 'ya knw? =)

I wonder how valuable meter will be in this game. That will influence the gameplay quite a bit. So far we have EX moves, supers, tag supers, and cross assault. Possibly alpha counters. That’s a lot of shit to use meter on.

More strategy

Geez will you guys stop worrying please? This game is crispy, even now.

what about them?

Huh?

Crispy like charcoal nobody wants to eat.

Who the fuck wants Pandora to actually be useful?
