I think so. This game is not looking so hot right now, from where I’m standing. The only thing keeping my interest is the inclusion of Rolento.
I wouldn’t be too worried. The game might have a lot more stuff and capcom probably won’t show it.
The game’s fun. It’s not even close to finished yet and I already really enjoy how it feels, this coming from someone who has played a bunch of FG’s to at least a competent level. The not being able to cancel into specials might be exactly the balance factor that keeps the game out of being just a “who has the best jab/short” contest and will give more focus on the other normals of a character.
For example, I found chaining to be very good with Hugo but not so much with Rolento, who has VERY GOOD rekkas in his Patriot Circle move to compensate and a repertoire of very good pokes.
Well, obviously I haven’t played it so I’m willing to accept that I could be completely wrong. I sure hope it turns out good.
But doesn’t not being able to chain into specials force you to use the Cross Rush? Oh well see what happens with the NYCC build, at least they’re testing out different stuff atm with that no specials from chains and the adjustment to Cross Assault. (I believe Ono mentioned they would be continually playing around with that until they were happy).
Yeah you could chain cancel to specials in the evo build, i remember wong doing cr. jab xx st. strong xx legs a lot, so I guess they took it out of the LA build to see what the play would look like.
Please for the love of god i hope this does not turn into a boring ass jab/short fishing contest. That would kill so much hype for me.
Well to start fishing with jabs and shorts you’re going to have to get in close first, and there’s a whole game to be played right there in doing that. Once you get close you start playing the normals game.
Trust me, the game is fun. It just feels good. Canceling isn’t the only way to combo into stuff.
To Mowr or anyone else that has played the build, I noticed that HP+HK is dry launcher, Can the HP+HK command be chained into from LM, as opposed to LMHH?

Haven’t finished going through the rest of the vids on the front page, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more instances of it happening.
I specifically remember being able to chain cancel into Guile’s FK on the EVO build. I remember having problems doing this though, like you had to cancel quickly, more quickly than something like a SF4 cancel. With Guile, I was able to do c.jab > c.jab > c.strong > FK
Well you won’t be able to just rush in a start banging out combos in a competitve environment. You’ll have to sort of ‘fish’ for those combo opportunties.
For example if I’m using Chun Li and Ibuki versus a team of Geif and Hugo – I can’t really see myself rushing down very easily. From a strategic stand point I’ll more than likely have to poke and zone with Chun Li and tag in Ibuki for extra damage. Unfortunately we’ll only really know when the game is in our hands.
since Gief’s Lariat seems to be charge i wonder how he’ll get people off of him since it won’t be like SF4
Very weird! I wonder if we had a different build at the LA Fight Night? Or maybe certain characters either can’t cancel chains or haven’t yet been programmed to cancel chains?
Btw Gief’s lariat isn’t a charge, it’s still the same ppp or kkk it’s been since 91.
depends if that normal in the chain can be special move cancelled and your input speed. My two cent for yall
imo it would make sense that some normals doesnt cancel into specials, and that these normals were diferent for each character, or as UD said, perhaps not every char has this programed yet
