SFxT General Discussion Thread rev.B

Look up the definition of Cash Cow you dumb fuck. And the “It’s Capcom” comment would be understood by anyone with even a passing understanding of the games industry to equal “It’s a cash grab above and beyond any equality between company and consumer” just as anyone would understand “It’s Valve” to equal “It’s a fine product that is both profitable AND a great value to the consumer”

If your looking for retarded check the mirror you little shit

There’s really nothing wrong with that. Very few of the reasons we care about character balance apply to gems.

The one that matters here is diversity. It would be terrible if there was only one viable set of gems. But, if out of the 4 million or so combinations you can pick for a character, there are like 7 major archetypes with some variations, that’s totally fine. To maybe put this into perspective, Magic the Gathering prints bad cards on purpose (they’re usually rares, btw), because a significant portion of players actually likes them. The game is more fun with some unbalance.

Guess I meant to say somewhat balanced but I thought that was implied. Having some form of balance is good.

Also sorry for my massive QQ post but yea I don’t want this game to be ruined before it even get started. With the lost of hype, yea I hoping the best for this game. Constant hate around.

People say, “Don’t like, Don’t buy”. OK. Now alot of ppl potentially do it and the game goes obsolete. I already feel this game with be more niche than the rest which is not a problem to me.

I wish all this Gem stuff (+) was a bad joke. It would be nice to see SFxTK thrive as a true competitive fighter, but, unfortunately, I can’t see that coming. They should’ve done as UMVC3, a separate mode, with continued support.

Real fuckin’ talk, man.
I don’t see “PlayStation Store” nor Xbox Live Marketplace any-fucking-where.

Can we start using some names please?
I trust in Ono’s trolling ass, not Niitsuma.

Dude, UStream is ASS.

Still don’t know if pre-order gems are “unlockables.”

There’s a few games that let you earn shit (via pre-order) when you could’ve just met some simple requirements.
Look at 3rd Strike: Online Edition.

Yeah, I don’t know why it’s Blue on one side and Red on the other.
Hell, the previous HUD was waaaaay more cooler looking than the one now.

Nigga, you are the LAST person to be calling someone “retard.”

See, the thing about cash grabs is that they’re designed to make money. That means someone has to want to fucking buy it. So for example, Shrek 3 was not very good, but made money off of the momentum of the series (and probably hurt ticket sales for Puss in Boots which was a much better movie).

SFxT doesn’t have anything like that. Even fans of Street Fighter and Tekken, really especially them, have at best responded with cautious optimism. Capcom can’t just trade on good will from nostalgia like they could with SF4 and MvC3. If they don’t have a hook to get people legitimately interested, it’s not gonna sell that well, and trying to put DLC out there would just be pissing away money.

I feel like maybe they’ve been holding back on the gems system in the hope that they can polish it to be that thing, but so far it hasn’t come together that way. Right now, it really isn’t feasible to do what you’re suggesting they’re doing.

I prefer Nigger if your gonna call names. Around here we like to pronounce our E’s and our R’s

And reading 'yall defend a company that kept people from playing through a game a second time in an effort to stop used game sales is as laughable as it is sad…

In regards to Capcom’s zealot-like devotion to the almighty dollar, I’m going to post what I posted in another thread.

Please keep in mind it was a general response, just with you quoted as being the most recent person to tout it…
The point stands.

Except SNK was pumping out KoF’s at pretty much the same rate as SF.
Problem being most of them were even worse than SFIII NG and rarely got any mainstream interest.

Not to mention, Tekken never got expansions until DR (And even then, a poor expansion which got no mainstream attention other than being a PSP port) and BR (Which was the only T6 version on console) and has had no DLC, and still comes out ahead by 9 million main franchise sales, less money spent on extra releases and DLC, more than $240 million ahead (Counting each new sale as US$30)
The problem is Capcom tries to get more money by trying to ring it out of their fans, and making it more accessible to casual players to try and ring money out of THEM as well, by trying to turn them into dedicated players, then selling them DLC and standalone expansions.
Then guess what happens?
Guess what fucking happens.
UMvC3 is a sales blunder and people don’t trust Capcom any more.
Many people don’t want to buy SF x Tekken and instead just wait for Super SF x T.
SHOCK.
HORROR.

Oh dear somebody doesn’t like the game you’re hype for?

But back to the game, recordings are there for the recent stream.

PS: If anyone can figure out how to open ps3 psarc.sdat files, can you pass it over to me? Interested in seeing If those DLC characters for KoF13 are … Actually downloadable.

Does 56KB count as downloadable?

I agree with this 100 percent

I believe it does (The key part :arazz: ).

<3 SNK Suckmore

It’s really ridiculous, I saw Capcom get an immense amount of hate for selling colors for 3rd Strike:OE even though Blazblue and Arcana Heart were doing it well before Capcom. (The funniest response when some sane people pointed it out was that no one gives a fuck about those games lol) People gave Capcom heaps of shit over MVC3 DLC characters when once again Blazblue did it before (as did Soul Calibur IV) and now KOFXIII is doing it yet cups ear yep fuck all.

Namco Bandai (who are flat out worse than Capcom when it comes to DLC) are planning to sell old SC themes as DLC for SCV yet I’ve seen no one whining about that, bet you if Ono mentioned that SFII and Tekken 1-3 themes were being sold as DLC you’ll have hundreds of posts bitching about it. It’s funny how people expect Tekken Tag 2 console to be just like the last couple, how about no lol, enjoy paying DLC for the best clothing items. Skullgirls has confirmed DLC characters from the start including 2 they had to push back from release, it’s okay guys you aren’t Capcom so no one will mind!

Oh god I remembered that shitstorm, not only were the characters awful, they were already on the disc. Poor Soul Calibur sites. :wasted:

You are basing this on… Oh and Harada only said he was warming up to DLC characters in 1 obscure interview…

In BlazBlue’s defense, Makoto, Valkenhayn, Platinum, and soon Relius were never on the CS disc to begin with. Their addition was “sincere” DLC.

Makoto easily could’ve been disc DLC but they were smart enough not to shove 80% of the finished product onto the disc and instead make people download more. Animations take a fuck load longer to make than in the time CS went gold and Makoto was out as DLC.

Blazblue is still guilty of selling heaps of other shit as DLC except no one gives a shit because they’re not Capcom. Extend has 1 new character and is a brand new disc, but no one gives a fuck.

Namco Bandai’s history of DLC pimping.

Exhibit A - Idolmaster
Exhibit B - Tales of Xillia

You’ll never get another SCIV/T6 in regards to content again… but the thing is that in addition to all this DLC SCV+TTT2 will have a lot of characters and content from the go. That also applies to SFxTK which seems to slip from peoples mind. SFxTK looks to have the biggest roster in any SF game as well as the most content in a SF game since SF Zero 3.

Of course no way in hell will Soul Calibur V and TTT2 be judged in the same manner as SFxTK, it’s not cool enough.

So there is still hope for Alex. If Rufus is in the game and on a billboard, I don’t see why Alex can’t.

They are different divisions in Bamco though, just because one development division includes DLC ‘pimping’ doesn’t necessarily mean that others will follow suit. I don’t see how a newly standard feature like Tekken’s customization feature will just be suddenly go pay to use and not have a shitstorm over it though.

Start visiting sites other than Shoryuken then?

Actually no one gives a shit because barely anyone cares about Blazblue any more.
Why would I whinge that Call Of Duty is being milked when I don’t even like it?

Oh and now that you mention it, that DLC shit is the reason I wouldn’t bother with it even if it had a thriving scene.

EDIT: Also I love how you take the stance on Tekken 6’s DLC in the exact same way you have been telling people to stop doing.
Protip, SF has a history of DLC and re-releases, Tekken doesn’t, Namco have been in love with DLC long before Tekken 6 came out, which had no DLC, AND, to top it off, Namco allowed the team to make the game with cards that worked with the entire roster, which is an obvious loss of a card sale to anyone who plays more than their main.
No DLC, spread out releases, minimal expansions.
That is the Tekken business model, and it has given Namco their most successful franchise for 15 years.
