More about the Meter building Gem.
I guess it’s not passive?
Also happy to hear that you can’t stack identical Gems with the same conditions.
Also, a do-1-reversal condition? Ugh, I’m going to hate if Attack gem has that, getting Vortexed after a lucky Reversal is my pet peeve.
Has anyone specified if the speed Gem affects hitstun and blockstun (For either character)?
The blog also says the Gem system now doesn’t allow for stacking identical gems with the same conditions, the big red text underneath the types chart.
Even machine translation doesn’t completely misinterpret “cannot” from “can”

Without knowing a lick of Japanese what I gathered is they illustrating the same punch in 3 screen shots
first one shows how much meter you gain with that attack without gems active.
second one shows one C.gauge gem active and the same attack appears to get double the meter
third one is interesting because it shows 3 C.gauge gems and it looks like the meter once again doubles on the same attack. But it takes two additional gems to double what one gem can do? Seems hardly worth it to have 3 C.guage gems.
So on theory:
Though going by SSF4’s Chun Li who is fairly meter dependant for combos, 1 C.guage gem would be a smart idea for those characters like Chun
Characters that don’t rely on meter so much you can probably go without using that gem.
To show a clear difference between gem’d and not-gem’d meter building.
It’s also possible that they each do have the same conditions, but have different durations or meter % which would also explain this:
I do however, disagree with that, I’d rather have a free bar of meter to:
EX out of trouble
EX Tag out of trouble
Extend Combos with tag cancels
Extend Combos with Super/Cross Art
More so than my opponent, than do some extra damage or take a bit less chip damage (Speaking of defense gems, my opponent can easily just activate then lay off assuming we can see each other’s Gems and conditions.)
I thought that the gems do still stack? You just can’t have gems with identical activation conditions, but you can still have three of the same ‘type’ of gem? Or am I missing something here…
I do actually agree with what you say though. Because I too am not looking for extra damage or less chip, auto tech/block etc.,
As I used Chun in my example above, I’ll certainly be using her in SF X T, so I’ll use meter building gems to my advantage. I rather use the game’s built in game mechanics like the ones you’ve mentioned than relying gems to ‘play for me’ or give me a handicap.
I’m still quite concerend about these speed gems though,(I believe they are calling them Lighting legs?) sure they’ll only be for a duration my point is this:
Changing frame data, which if it speeds you up–it certainly will change frame data. For me with SSF4 knowing what moves I counter on block with (again using Chun as an example) her Super or in several cases reversal Ultra 1 to punish an opponents’ move is what really makes fighting games great and where the knowledge of players gets respected in my eyes. Its all about how deep you want to go as a player and with something that could potential mess up timing/ frame advantage etc., kinda sucks to me.
Now that I think of it too, if you go into training mode and work out your BNBs --get the muscle memory going-- then you’ll be so use to doing a move a certain way. Once that speed gem kicks in; it’ll throw timing out the window. You’ll be hitting buttons to late or when its not active too soon.
If people stop complaining to a certain extent, Ono’s team wouldn’t have to keep changing stuff and the way it’s going now they gonna change things till the game goes gold.
I’ve no problem with them making changes and thinking this gem balance through as much as they need to. Hell, if it comes out a few months later than expected, I’m good with that - so long as the final product is worth it. It sounds like they’re keeping true to their word to make sure the gem system isn’t unbalanced… you go right ahead Capcom. Make sure it’s done right the first time.
If it really is due (in part) to the community’s bitching, then hey, that’s a good thing too - it means that to at least some degree, they are listening.
did a music video from Tekken Blood Vengeance. I can’t wait till December and they release like 4-6 more trailers for sfxt. I want to do one with “my town” from Hollywood Undead.
I thought that’s what I meant when I said what I said…gah, whatever, at least this way people will possibly get a bit more creative with their gem combinations instead of always picking 3 of the same gem…
Still, whatever the case, I’m looking forward to the game. All I need is my “official” Cody reveal and I’ll be all set…
Well since people didn’t want the gems i think its good that they limited them. Also i am sure they made changes to pandora mode since they were talking about cutting it. I’m guessing that in pandora mode you speed up and you get an even greater power increase. idk or maybe it activates all 6 gems at once and you attack the enemy.
