umm most of the combos in this game are chain combos… I don’t think you know the difference between links and chains
Also if somebody told you a story about an atomic bomb, what it could do, that somebody had it, and that it could potentially destroy something you loved. Would you say “hey let him drop it first, then we’ll decide if its dangerous”.
SFxT is this bomb, it will sell well and send a message that casualness is what fighting games need, not mindgames or practice or even fucking doing a google search on what combos are good. We’ve told capcom “ya we’ll buy it” many times, even after complaining about it. Hell we STILL complain about the games we are magically “forced” to play. From beta marvel 3 to sf4 milk me like its 1993 edition. This game is the ultimate insult to their hardcore fans that let their games live on. How can you even say “let it roll out” when their intention is to spit in the face of skill and dedication aka why you love these games and why you think they’re fun. Because that contradicts what Johnny Donuts thinks is fun, Johnny Donuts doesn’t want to learn this game, he just wants to press buttons and see a giant glowing K.O. on the screen 30 seconds later then sell the game the next week.
Well have fun riding this game out, hell I could be a fucking retard and this could be the greatest fighting game ever. But now that I think about it, it just might become that… sales wise anyways
Lemme be clear, I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea of gems. I think the basic idea of having customizable options for each character is pretty nifty. But they’ve done it totally wrong. Gems that are explicitly designed to overcome skill gaps? Gems that are exclusive to people who pay extra money for them? Those are terrible, anti-strategic ways to implement this system.
I wonder if we’ll see a set of gems that work like Exodia the Forbidden One in Yu-Gi-Oh. If you activated the 5 gems (right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg and body), you win the match. =)
Both sides here are overreacting imo especially Ultradavid. If this game is great then awesome see you at Evo!
If it’s terrible then oh well see you at Evo! Nothing changes and none of this shit is a big deal. You guys at each others throats are look silly to me.
No matter what SF4, MVC3,MK9,some form of Tekken, and likely KOF will be there to play at tournaments. Skullgirls might get in to depending if it gets the numbers.
I leave for a few weeks due to school and return to this clusterfuckery. This topic is a warzone. It’s as if the rant thread and the first generation General Discussion thread had an abominable love child to spawn this place.
I have literally only seen less than 15 seconds of total gem gameplay, yet I feel ill just typing gem I am so sick of them already. I implore everyone to take a step back, BREATHE, look at how this all could pan out in the end, good or bad, and leave it at that.
Now that that’s over, let us salvage what we can of the flaming, smoldering pile of rubble that is the hype-train.
Everyone and their mother was so sure that MK9 would likely die before Evo surely afterwards. Despite all the haters who go to tournaments and stay at home to troll it on stream MK9’s community is growing. MK9 centered players are being sponsered and numbers for the game have been steady and strong beating out FGC staples like Tekken and Arc sys.work games regularly.** Having the worse online ever is the best thing to ever happen to Mk9 as it was the only thing to get MK players away from their wifes and to tournaments.**
I said all that to say this: NEVER be sure of anything in this community. There is a scene for Catherine and WWE allstars for gods sake.
Don’t talk to me about MK9. I gave it a chance, I liked it, I still like it, and while I said its numbers would go down after Evo and was right, I didn’t think it would outright die.
Missing the point which was not to bitch about Mk9 it was this you and others can’t talk about how awesome SF4 is and how hype MVC3 is while ignoring other games for the last year and a half and now get pissed off by Capcom doing what they have already been doing for a while now.
Oh it’s cool, somehow you’ve managed to completely mischaracterize my positions even though few people in the scene have more of a public record. I like SF4 but think AE is weak and was vocal about ultras being stupid when they were new, I don’t love MvC3 and have said I think xfactor and Phoenix are really dumb but I still think it’s fun to watch, I play and love commentating MK9 when tournaments let me (which is not often unfortunately), I can’t wait for Skullgirls, I’m gonna try KoF, I think SFxT seems stupid and gets stupider with every new announcement for it, etc. I dunno what you want from me, dude, but it doesn’t seem like it’s anything I actually have.
I understand that some people may be overreacting about the gem system, but at the same time, there’s nothing wrong with expressing fears about what the system can become. On multiple occasions, Seth has mentioned that the team is really listening closely to fan feedback, so isn’t this what we’re supposed to be doing? Both sides have good points about the gem system. Hopefully Capcom takes both sides into account and says “OK, let’s reward players who are dedicated to this game, but let’s utilize the gems to add some variety to mirror matches and add a new dimension to the game.” I honestly think the intention is for every player to develop their own identity.
Honestly all of this would be alleviated if they just gave us a damn option to disable gems online and offline (Yes I care about online. Sue me.) I’m just not with the whole “shut up and see what happens” mindset. Even if the naysayers have the wrong first impression of the gems, at the very least Capcom can look at their complaints and make sure that some of their fears don’t come to fruition.
I want this thread to not be about taking a huge dump on the game which seems like the only thing you ever come into this thread to do.
I like you David and want nothing from you but to be the smart person you are. If you don’t like the game avoid the topic like I do to games I think are stupid. Getting into debates shitting on a game that has zero footage of gameplay with Gems is stupid, X factor level stupid.
For the record I don’t like the Gems but this constant whining about DLC Gems that could be useless or not necessary and Pre-order Gems which isn’t a big deal either because anyone can preorder the game. Hell even the auto block, auto tech Gems take away meter and while still stupid to have anyway punish you for abusing them.
I understand both sides feelings but I myself am just not ready to condemn the game yet. Or praise it.
So… About that Rufus guys! I’m sure he will be a great character with chains and super… Or that cool X the line series man that was soooooooooo awesome amirite?
Spoiler
I love reading all the whining, stop trying to stop the fun backseat moderators.
