I don’t get why people think Capcom is dumb. This isn’t late 90s SNK or early 2000s Midway who bled themselves dry with horrible decisions.
This is late 2000-era Capcom who is probably right now second to only EA in terms of sheer number of profitable franchises. They’re not going to fuck up the one surefire money-making idea they’ve got going on right now in the fighting game world (the crossover of the two most popular 2D and 3D fighting franchises respectively).
Ono is a goof, but he’s also an employee. He knows if this sucks, even though Capcom probably had to wave a lot of money in Namco-Bandai’s face for them to agree to all of this, it’s going to be his ass.
The game will be great because Ono likes being employed by Capcom.
It’s a surefire money maker, they can fuck it up all they want because it’s sure to make money.
Japan’s organizational structure employs people for life. It’s not competitive work like here in the states where you can get replaced for someone better.
“Tekken would destroy SF if it wasn’t fore projectiles” "Tekken is a disgrace to all fighting games"
Capcom you really trying to promote that kind of bullshit?
like a lot of people, im excited and scared of the Gem system in competitive play. i think someone mentioned this but i hope some of the better Gems have a negative effect to them, making you waste a Gem slot to compensate for the negative effect of the other gem. the only thing that sucks for tournament organizers are the exclusive and apparent DLC gems. i feel gems will have some creative and hype stuff. we just dont know enough about them right now.
with so many mechanics in this game, tournament organizers could hold different tournaments just for this game.
you would think that as big as comiccon is and how much coverage its getting, that capcom would want to show off as much as possible. since all eyes are on comiccon right now, fighting game fans or not. i guess the biggest info they released besides the gem system was the release date of the game. but for some reason i already thought they told everyone it was March awhile back.
