Absolutely loving the fact that the game immediately returns you to training right after the match. No more absurd loading times in-between. What a great addition.
Regardless of any buffs or nerfs, this change and the connection filter in BL make us all feel like Cammy players this patch. Long overdue QoL changes.
Since a lot of āDBFZ fansā (I use that loosely) enjoy being obnoxiously toxic in stream chats, Spooky is going to start making the chats available to subscribers only during Sunday finals.
Xian showing all the changes to the characters:
Itās less about transforming freely and more what he gets off of it when he changes on hit. Changing on block wouldnāt do much of anything because thereās no earthly way Capcom would allow him to be safe doing it because thatād be nuts.
But with the changing on hit, he gets a TON of new setups no matter which form youāre in. Heās basically the new vortex character now.
Are you sure of that? With less pushback on booms, Guile players will be more encouraged to press buttons right after them. Itās probably you the one getting crush countered, pushed on block into a safe boom zone or getting walk up thrown/udk. For me it feels more like a buff considering how Guile works in this game. Maybe a nerf only in match ups where itās riskier to play offensively, like against grapplers.
Itās funny that Capcom decided that booms should work as better pressure tools but worse at zoning, and did the exact opposite with flash kick, nerfing the post-oki it granted (which is more range specific now)
Listening to all this post patch bitching has been entertaining as fuck.
There was a dude talking about full out dropping the game now because rashid got nerfed and now, yes now, he really doesnāt like the direction the game is going.
Oh. It was cool when everyone else was getting nerfed into obscurity, but now that its your character, theyāve gone too far.
People donāt have any real perspective. For the scope of the game as a whole or how busted shit impacts anyone around them. If you want esports and pro tours and expansion, youāre going to have to deal with balance patches, and with that there will eventually be a few changes that negatively impact you as a player.
If you want to be a pro, specialize in the game. Develop strong fundamentals. Not just one characters tricks. You have to be able to switch to new top tier without falling off because 50/50 into kill combos or having a character thats playing by a different ruleset probably wonāt be there next patch. The fundamentals that you should have been invested in will.
Im gonna have to play more 3.5 guile obviously, but the cookie cutter strategy of boom until he jumps is definitely weaker with less push back
Still, if the tiers were tighter without sacrificing individuality - the need for tier whoring would be diminished.
There will always be tiers though. Agree with everything you said.
I think people are gonna be forced to tier whore no matter what at the pro level as long as big money is on the line. How well a strong player performs is becoming more directly tied to how strong their character is.
I just dont see it as coincidental when a character gets buffed up and you get dudes who are really good players jumping up to top 8 at every event then when them nerfs come in they start drowning in pools or getting knocked out way earlier than expected.
The only players who are staying consistent are those good enough to pick up new top tier quickly or those whose top tier just floats under the radar and never get nerfed.
That strategy was never good to begin with. Any decent Guile knows that his normals are as important as the boom.
You might be underestimating how good his boom game is in sfv as a guile player yourself. And no im not saying all he has to do ever in any match is boom. But its extremely strong in sfv
The boom game is pretty strong because allows him play defensively and offensively imo. Hence it makes the character very versatile, but there is no way you can impose this game without abusing his normals.
I understand you though, as a Ryu player itās a really annoying match-up
About the patch, I like overall just because most characters I like/play/used to play/intend to play were buffed or stayed strong (Guile, Karin, Zeku, Sakura, Blanka, Chun and Nash). Beautiful coincidence.
Transforming with Zeku safely on block is possible, just use st.HP xxChange as Old Zeku or st.LK xxChange as Young. Was the new meta until Capcom give us something more (deserved). Finally Zeku is stronger, but people will have a lot to do to make him work properly. I mean, heās still āhonestā, but in a good way now. Whoever think thereās BS to abuse here will find an huge disappointment.
Tried Chun, not a fan of using V-Skill in combos. Always felt like a weird combination of moves. Will keep playing her on the side but need to switch it up.
So I bought Sakura. Wonāt have enough FM now for Falke but it looks like sheās never coming out anyway so who gives a fuck.
Seems fun so far. Iām losing every match because people still think ācasual matchā means āpick your day 1 main and play like itās tournament timeā but screw them. I also picked a colour with purple panties which is cool.
I meant off of specials. Off of normals is nothing new to literally any stance change character, even Deleted Vega.
Amen. I think we players are just big kids, everything is good until our function get nerfed. People cried a river when AE patch list was out, Capcom reverted some decisions and people cry even more. If Capcom would have just buffed everyone or just the weaker characters people would have complained anyway, no doubt. Sure, Iām curious too about Guile, Akuma and Cammy still over most heads, but wasnāt like that even few weeks ago? After the fallen gods of S1 people didnāt get it? Srsly? Isnāt no fun allowed, but no BS allowed. Capcom does what people asked, isnāt important who is on top now, we all know these characters will be butchered next patch. Itās a loop. Just play which character you like, if the game doesnāt allow you to play/abuse like youāre used to do before, the door is open. Capcom already got your money,so bye.
At this point Iām just used to nerfs, though my characters seem to rarely get them in any meaningful way.
Oh ok. I think this implementation was already in their minds for AE, but waited a bit to check how people would have played the character. Looking how important transforming is for Zeku Capcom just unchained him. He gets tricks even from transforming on block with normals anyway, less powerful than doing so from specials or V-Skill, but still there.
