I went to the local here for the first time since I moved to Georgia. First off I gotta say it’s hard as fuck to find locals now that everyone has abandoned SRK. Back in 2009/10 I found out about local tournaments where I use to live in NC by just going to the tourney sub section of the SRK forums. Now that everyone is on Facebook now I have no idea how people are suppose to find this stuff unless they know the exact name they’re searching for. I just put “Georgia FGC” or Georgia Fighting game" in Facebook and see some groups but no info on the names of these tournament weeklies or monthlies.

The only reason I found out about the local is because a few months ago I was looking for SFV streams to watch and saw something called “Gwinnett Brawl”. I live in Gwinnett County and thought “wait, does this take place in my county?”. So I looked it up and found out that it’s only 15 minutes away from where I live. They have some pretty good players here that have high placings in CPT events like Neon the Kolin player that made top 8 at FR and Terrence is the Chun player that just finished top 3 at Texas Showdown.

Anyways, I went 0-2 with no wins in tournament play and went 0-2 in casuals with no wins again. I think i won a total of 2 rounds. I also watched quite a lot of matches as well. I didn’t spot one low level player. I might have been the worse player there lol. I have a very long way to go to even be competitive with the low tier guys of this group. I’m a older guy and probably won’t make the time for it. But it’s still fun to go and participate so I’ll continue doing that despite getting lit up over and over again.
