Sakura looking good vs Guile.

Dunno if that is entirely true, but definitely I’ve enjoyed this set. First time I’ve seen a Sakura in SFV being able to keep the control of the match without resorting to the blocked Tatsu–>EX dp shenanigans, the guy was super clean.

not to be negative or anything but that sakura just kept jumping in over and over and daigo wouldnt stop throwing booms mindlessly. im pretty sure that match up is more difficult than the video gives off

his throw break rate is most likely under 10 percent…

He just takes the throw like a womanly woman!
Breaking the throw is for wimps! :stuck_out_tongue:

Jumping on Guile isn’t exactly the smart thing to do, especially if played by Daigo. The Sakura player did more than that.

From what I saw it was a lot of the Sakura player making good decisions based on how he was throwing booms and that Daigo was nervous to throw too many booms due to her walk speed and jump HK. Pretty much the exact opposite of like vs a character like Abigail where a Guile player will commonly start the round with booms because Abigail is just too slow, big and his jump is too shallow to get over the booms very well. You can viably anti air him with booms which is pretty much auto bad matchup for Abi.

Daigo started the round going for aggressive walk in, jumping and pressing buttons. When a Guile player does that early on it usually means they are afraid of your ability to get in on the booms and want to take it to you to get the life lead first. Even in ST, Guile has to do this in certain matchups or else he will get rushed down. If you are making it too predictable that you want to play the boom game you will take jumps.

Sakura doesn’t really have a great cross up, but her j.HK angles deep and is really nice for stuffing any bad fireball or anti air. Which plays heavily vs Guile as a bad boom will get stuffed by it and he doesn’t have any real quick, vertical medium AA vs her j.HK. He has to do a bit more calculating to keep her from jumping if he’s not sitting on flash kick which works in her favor.

He even tried to raw VT activate to catch her j.HK one time but didn’t get the anti air in time. Maybe over a longer set he would have had better reads on her fireballs and jumps, but she’s just very mobile in a basic sense and the j.HK is really troublesome for his AA game. Sakura player also did a good job using charged fireballs which Guile has to use V Skill boom or EX boom to beat. Which he baited the options Daigo used pretty well.

Absolutely nothing else to add.

I am enjoying ibuki a lot. Are there any ibuki’s i should be watching right now?

The artist formerly known as Yukadon is awesome. Xian was also still really good the last time I saw him out.

I have a hard time being positive about Ibuki because she’s a pain in the ass but those are the ninjars I’ve been consistently impressed with even as a hater.

Been playing tons of Street Fighter lately. Mainly Hyper Fighting, Ultra, and V.

First and foremost, I’m very happy about the 30th Anniversary collection. Being a lifelong fan of Street Fighter, I always wanted to know what it was like to have the entire series compiled together. I’ve had most of the games on various consoles, but having Street Fighter’s entire Arcade history available on one disc is both convenient and awesome. I still remember the days when I’d be happy playing the Game Boy port of SF2 and the Sega port of Super SF2.

Most of my friends would call me crazy when I’d still go to the local papi store to throwdown on an actual Arcade cab, though. They’d be like, ā€œYou have the game for Sega, so why would you continue to waste your quarters? You crazyā€. Since this was a time well before online play existed, that was my source of competitive play. Did the same with most of the fighting games I had. I always thought having it on console would satisfy me, but I still wanted to take on others.

Now when it came to games like X-Men Vs Street Fighter and most of the other Vs games, there was no migration because the PS1 ports of those games sucked ass. I still remember how salty I was to learn you couldn’t tag out. I was hot.

But yeah, 30th Anniversary has allowed me to reflect on my experiences with the Arcade. I’m glad I was able to experience that scene growing up. That’s how I ended up becoming the lover of fighting games that I am today.

Sakura is the new Ibuki. Nobody players her except Rank Demons…meaning she’ll continue to go under the radar for a little while. Falke on the other hand s getting a lot of attention online at least from what I run into.

I’m still going to run VT2 Falke until it’s buffed.

X-men vs Street Fighter > MSHvs
