SFV Lounge: Revealed DEEZ NUTZ! They don't reveal $H1T. Momochi plz wakeup super

Also, if any G were to make it, i figured it would be 801. His more “solid” approach to the character i figured would b more stable. I also figured he would get locked out a bunch. I’m not sure if this is lack of matchup experience (especially from the Japanese players), but G was holding his own in neutral/defense better than i expected.

I’ve also changed my tune on Punk winning. There’s no “coasting” going on, and if their is, then everyone else needs to get on Punk’s coasting level.

@Pertho Fuudo is taking it all with Birdie. AND he is wake up supering Tokido.

Oh yeah I figured Punk would be hungry. He’s like Mena. Mena is said to be a rich man in his country now, but he took his loss to Storm Kubo a couple months later in Evo Japan like he lost the grand finals of Evo. These guys love to win.

I would have said the same. Gustavo has the more solid G, but Smug is a better betting man with his G and has cleaner, more varied setups. With G you can still make a mistake in neutral and then get reamed on. Smug is good at playing to just make you guess until you die so he doesn’t have to be put in a position to guess as often. He won’t play the neutral as cleanly or as often, but the payoff is bigger if you play that way and tag people with consistency.

Didnt he stop on his own tho? Like he saw how much it bothered people and thought better?

Anyways i think they should embrace the hate. Full heel turn. Fgc events could really benefit from players with more personality than the robot/just here to have a good time- archtypes we have.

I think we need people to hate. We need a supreme shit talker like Punk was when he first came up to top level. More sonicfox types to let you know you all suck and the money is his.

Drama sells.

And 801 got really close too.

There is a better than solid chance I go 0-3 betting on the obvious answer.

Good tournament!

The bet definitely suggests the tournament was worth watching. It could have easily been a dry no wake up super, no G, no Punk surely winning back to back after qualifying top 8.

we already had a noise rule put when C.O.R.N came onto the scene and esports banned them Mena and Caba got dealt with too but Joy is gonna keep getting away with this cause shes the first Female to do this. i just wanna see how this will play out, but im willing to bet Race and gender will come up.

If the Japanese are starting to get fed up with it, she doesn’t have very long to go IMO.

So watching this tournament I’ve noticed how outside of a few people. Wakeup reversals are almost non-existent. And in turn people are always hitting buttons on their meaty setups. I’m just now getting to where people are willing to not mash on wakeup. Just wondering what goes into some of y’alls thoughts for deciding to pressure or baiting on wakeup.

I find if it’s a character with a invincible reversal I’ll usually keep doing all my meaty setups till they get meter and back off hoping to bait one.

Yeah at top level play, you usually just go for your meaties any way. They have to DP to get out and if they don’t have a DP it’s either they gotta pray you screw up the meaty, use fake oki or go for an obvious shimmy and they poke out of the shimmy.

Getting hit by an EX DP usually doesn’t give them much oki and only does a bit of damage to you any way. Plus the odds of them using the EX DP are scary because if you go for the block read and block the EX DP, 120 percent damage.

G making top 8 is one of those things where I am glad i was wrong. Don’t like the character but it’s great seeing a new face in top 8. With the possible exception of Daigo and Guile the rest of Top 8 is the same old stale as fuck trash.

You guys know how a lot of heavy DP’s are strike invincible on frame 3? Most common block strings to beat 3f’ers have 3f gaps with mediums beating lights. But a DP with strike invincibility on frame 3 would beat those mediums but that never became a thing.

I have actually ran into few Ken’s that mashed fierce DP to beat my block string and was dumbfounded at first before realizing that their was actually a reason behind it no matter how risky it was. It’s not a bad idea once in a while but I’ve completely removed mashing regular DP away from my muscle memory that I’ve never gone for it myself despite telling myself to try it once in a while.

I don’t know the regulations for this stuff, but where there’s money on the line tournament organizers might run into legal liability if they aren’t providing a fair environment to compete in.

Like, can you REMOTELY imagine a poker tournament allowing spectators to try distracting competitors?

Difference is, poker has a flat rule.

No cheering, period.

Its tougher if you want a half-way rule.

Is that a difference from a legal perspective though?

Not really, just an enforcement perspective.

How you define “too much” in a way that requires minimal personal judgement from the enforcer?

If you have an idea I’m open too it.

Though, I’m not fully sold on the idea that this is really a problem that needs solving.

I’m pretty sure the last event she was at she antagonised CKs opponent as he walked off stage.

At what point do you not call it cheering.

You gotta do it sometimes. LP dps trade in your favor spacing wise on certain attempts to meaty also.

I don’t know.

I’m just saying for it to be an enforceable rule, you need a specific definition.

If someone has one, I would be open to it.

I know in sports like tennis the competitors can ask the umpire to order people to quiet down to the point of having them ejected if they don’t.

I don’t know to what extent that’s to protect the tournament from lawsuit though.
