Neutral jumping EX stomp is the quickest way to die to EX stomp. Like most charge based special moves in this game they have near 0 whiff recovery so you have to neutral jump before the ex stomp even comes out so you jump on top of the recovery. Once he’s recovered your neutral jump is useless.
Better to just back jump away or forward jump over it if you are going for a late anticipation/reaction.
What I usually do if I dont feel like jumping forward or back is just sit and block and OS jump out if I don’t block anything. EX stomp is faster than EX headbutt grab so if EX stomp were to force you to block you’d block and if you’re not already blocking then you know you can neutral jump the grab and get free punish. EX stomp is only plus 2 on block and if you’re playing Zeku you have a fast V Reversal. You can just body that and push him out with a guaranteed hit for frame advantage.
Falke has it it easy because she can EX PP either on reaction and the only thing they can do is pull the moves backwards to fake and try to make it whiff.
Hope you’re kidding about the life thing, if not just take it a day at a time, try to relax and do things that you like, and of course stay positive, positive thinking bring positive vibes.
Not gonna lie, that makes me like Mena a whole lot.
I’m a greedy fucker who loves hard reads, I rarely ever jump forward or backwards trying to dodge command grabs, I always wanna get the fat punish on the whiff.
Jumping forward against a crouching alex means you’ll probably get anti aired. Jumping back is giving up space, probably what the alex player wants you to do.
Jumping too much cause you to be punished with air knee or lariat. Best to neutral jump and try to land a heavy button on your way down, alex will struggle to jab anti air that.
That’s part of it too is looking for the tells for EX stomp. Like Bison’s EX stomp stuff he can only do it off a crouch, so it’s good to check for Alex randomly deciding to crouch or whiff crouching buttons mid screen as tells for the stomp/headbutt.
Alex can also elbow, and if your backdashing or jump frames he’ll get a juggle punish into ex flashchop and you’re pretty much be in the corner. Also alex player can bait it, if he sees you jumping back and forward he simply wont be doing a special at all or use it to his own advantage and close the distance or use ex air knee if close enough.
Not to forget alex can use cr mp ( really good neutral control) whilst crouching. So your hk can also whiff whilst he pokes and whilst he’s charging.
You basically just have to beat the Alex to their mind games.
If you don’t give them jumps then they have to sit and make their tells more obvious. As long as you’re not dead in the corner back jump isn’t bad as a bait. It’s Alex so everything he’s doing is gimmicky as long as you don’t do much yourself. The more stuff you do midscreen the more stuff you give Alex to do. The less stuff you do, the less.
That’s how I generally beat Alex players. I just don’t do anything so they can’t do anything without a tell. Leaving them with stuff to throw out that’s mostly negative or can be jumped as hard reads and position myself to move in.
Not sure what you mean by doing nothing, you mean crouch blocking?
You always want to assert dominance and try to condition your opponent. Doing nothing against alex, leaves him to establish dominance in the neutral, alex players can space their elbows, poke you, dash in and jump in. All of them are somewhat fast (19 frame dash). On top of that you have to deal with bullshit moves like ex stomp or headbutt. And if your looking out for all of those you’ll probably not be able to react to any of them. With falke you got a good buttons in the neutral and a button that auto pilots his ex stomps/headbutt so you seem to come from a position of bias.
Doing nothing is literally doing nothing. That’s mostly how I’m getting close to master. Doing nothing. Lot of people are doing stuff so if you do nothing, it freaks em out and they do bad stuff and you punish them.
Yeah none of that stuff you mentioned that he does is actual bullshit. That’s why Alex doesn’t win any majors and why he’s always low on tier lists no matter how much they buff him. His dash is reactable, his jumps are easy enough to anti air unless he goes for fake eagle dive shit which is negative 9 million on block if you block it (can also delay AA it). EX stomp and EX headbutt are both easily dealt with using os block/neutral jump since stomp always comes out faster than the neutral grab.
He can random ex slash elbow, but that’s negative get wrecked on block and it’s not like he has million plus on block moves so regular slash elbow isn’t that big of a deal either.
Sure he gives characters with smaller buttons than Falke a bit more neutral problems, but those are also characters that if they knock him down once Alex either has to burn a V Reversal, super or dies.
Also is there a way to swap controller configs quickly at character select? I prefer L1 to be PPP for all characters except Ibuki, which I have as PP (light kunai). It fucks with VR’s more than anything.
Yh, doing nothing falke is probably the easy way out. reacting to 19 frame dash with input delay, on top of all the shit that you have to deal with doesnt work with most characters. How i see it you have to be pro active with buttons, dash ins/jumps to beat any char in the game, or you’ll just get stuffed.
