When pulling the plug goes too far…
Akhos has been on that train for awhile now. He’s been shoveling the coal if not manning the controls.
I think the main reason it isn’t a high profile issue is because it isn’t something big that the broader player/spectator base picks up on. Like compare it to ye olde early season throw loops and that is going to have more of an impact on people. Both in terms of personal impact - eat a few of those and you pick up a pitchfork - and perceived impact - you can clearly see it during competition and fuel your rage.
The backdash reset is also defensive so it can be lost on people. You don’t really get an appreciation for it until you’ve run into it a bunch and you also aren’t really going to notice until you start to look at where you can improve your game, where mistakes are happening, stuff like that.
Basically it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the majority of the player base doesn’t really think that hard about it and just throws it into the “SFV is random” bucket.
Pros/people with social media followings could make a bigger deal of it (which would rile the mob) but other than random quips I haven’t seen much of a push against how backdashes work.
Personally I think it’s not picked up on because Vs defence is like, absolutely horrendous. So having one janky ass option to evade a throw and trap all at once is something people are alright with. I would prefer the backdash just be invincible and reintroduce the OS options to play around it, because at least I could have some gameplan fighting vs. it. Atm nobody has tangible options against it outside of - you guessed it - just throwing a CC out there and praying. If not that, your best bet is chasing it with your own forward dash, or just chaining lights to keep them pinned into EX pressure extension.
Unplugging the machine? Getting pissed and walking off? All three?
Yeah I had that thought too. More of a lesser evils thing. The game may be scrambly now but what does it look like when you take the air reset out of the backdash or otherwise change it (I think it was like this in a really early beta version? can’t remember back that far).
Its also the factor that Capcom isn’t going to redesign the way the game works (even at a micro level) at this point so anything they do to backdashes would probably be lowest effort kind of stuff.
Shilling for NRS should be an IP ban. Like I’m not even joking take that shit to cuck your might.
What If Capcom doesn’t want announcement with scheduled with events?
I mentioned backdashes being dumb a long while ago.
You guys 2000 and late with it.
That Cat got some taste.
wouldnt work on you with your always changing mc donalds wifi
Lemme make it clear that I prefer SF over MK anyday.
However I don’t see why NRS gets so much crap for their fuck ups compared to Capcom.
There are some rough spots in their games that’s certain but I think they do justice to MK franchise overall.
I can’t hate on them tbh.
What should the be consequence of shilling SF in its current state?
Already got them: a hilarious emoji puking on people’s post.
Too bad some of the cellphone browsers don’t display it right, shit is hilarious.
Oh damn, that’s what all the puking is for? Lmao
The glaring difference is NRS puts out games that are rich in content. Capcom does the opposite. On top of that, Capcom’s PR is hilariously dreadful (or more accurately…invisible) in comparison.
MK is by no means my cup of tea, but call a spade a spade.
That seems fitting in my opinion.
Doesn’t change the fact that with full developer support, TV tournaments and year long engagement the NRS scene can’t get its shit together to support their games properly.
Secondly, I don’t know why you guys insist on bringing up sales data and other stuff, but the only numbers that matter in this scene are the people who show up. If you aren’t actively participating in it, you don’t exist. NRS games have been notoriously weak on that end. What’s even more glaring is that they are remarkably weak despite experiencing financial success magnitudes larger than other FGs in the scene.
Lastly, it should never have been and still shouldn’t be the SRK Forum’s job to create a space for every fighting game. This place has always been explicitly capcom. That fact is just fine. The people here are not going to put in the amount of work a completely different space dedicated to a franchise could. SRK has been incredibly accomodating to non-capcom games, but those subforums always end up dying compared to dedicated subforums towards those franchise.
So yeah, people not posting much in the MK thread here has all to do that this isn’t the place for MK. That thread is for SRKers who also wanna play MK. Just like the smash thread here won’t have near the resources as Smashboards. Hell if I wanted to know about MK, I’d take my ass to TYM, not check SRK. So really I’m not sure what you were trying to say but none of those points were any good.
Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat fans should like that both exist. It pushes both developers further and that’s good for us,the consumer.
Be rivals not enemies.
I’m not gonna boycott the game. I’ll play it a little less now just because a bunch of games have dropped or are going to. As much as a bad rep as the game has, overall I like it.
