Capcom is doing things differently this year!

(It’s April and no worthy news still).

This game is more like the older SF games like Alpha 2, CVS2, 3S and such where damage/stun is not really fixed by archetype for the most part. This is the game where Sim can kill you in 3 touches and has plus 8 on block TK projectiles he can rain on your head until you get hit.

Not really. This community can and has played the same game for multiple years. Sure, we get super stupid stuff patched but similarly we’ve gotten super stupid stuff patched in. What doesn’t really happen is people playing match ups long term to develop gameplans for them.

SF5 being shallow has never really been the issue, it just wasn’t really fun for a lot of its life. We’re at a point where the crazy stuff is at an acceptable level and people are just used to how the neutral plays out. Had they improved midscreen tools back in season 2, and made neutral a lot more engaging, people wouldn’t really have that many issues with the game. If you didn’t get cornered from being hit constantly then people wouldn’t find the game all that stressful to play either.

SF4 gave people a really bad impression of how much nonsense your characters typically had in an SF game. The amount of stuff you get to do in SF5 compared to 3S is way higher. The problem is that its also way easier. You don’t get the good feelings from landing genei jin stuff that you worked hard at getting in 5 all that often. But for all the stuff about “how much my character can do” you had a lot of top tiers that really had 3-4 things that they realistically did. Some top tiers not much.

If you think you’re gonna go to older games and do a hell of a whole lot, you’re gonna be severely disappointed in a lot of them. there are some characters who did a hell of a lot, but odds are really good that a lot of the people here aren’t going to end up picking those anyway.

So yeah, the idea that games need updates to be relevant is trash. Your fighting game needs consistently compelling gameplay. As in the gameplay should make you feel like you can make the right decisions and that those decisions will give you an advantage. If it doesnt, then it’ll stay wack regardless of the number of updates.

Also, one of the reason white damage is such a flawed mechanic in this game.

It favors certain character archetypes much more then others. You can’t be chipped out ( except CA ) but that white damage sure will stack on fast vs some characters while others just take it.

Feels like some characters have to fight the game while others play it.

This is a cross post from the General Discussion Lounge

Don’t click the Mortal Kombat 11 spoiler below this text if you don’t want to get spoiled:
Basically, the whole story mode/story line cut scenes are on YouTube already because of the countries that received MK11 earlier than America…

I only saw the 1st part (Netherrealm war; yes the MKX version of Sonya dies) and the part where the 1992 Shao Kahn and company go to present day’s Kahn’s Arena where General Kotal (I mean Kotal Kahn) is overseeing an execution.

Things I observed during the events in Kahn’s Arena:

The old characters are neither from the 1992/1993 (original timeline) or the 2011 - 2019 timeline. They are from a fucked up 3rd timeline.

* Raiden says that they were just in the Mortal Kombat tournament where Kung Lao defeats Goro and Shang Tsung (not Liu Kang). This also means that Kung Lao and Liu Kang have never heard of Shao Kahn or have met Shao Kahn until Kronika brought them to Kahn’s Arena (present day).

* 3rd timeline young Kitana is still the “evil” Kitana who thinks is still the rightful heir to Shao Kahn’s throne!!!
NRS is really milking The CW Arrowverse/The Flash timeline shenanigans in this one!!!

I mean, it’s not technically wrong. So, can’t hate on Capcom.

We should FT5 sometime bro. I wanna see how good that Cammy is. I’m using WiFi though. :kissing_heart:

Do you speak factually?

Okay granted, but then why isn’t Sagat killing you in 3 touches, or Juri, or Nash, or Ryu etc.?

Ryu used to, but Capcom knee capped that man. :pensive:

Ryu has issues but damage is not one of them.He still hits like a truck.

So yeah, if you guys read the spoiled story…

Could these shenanigans open up the door for Kronika to bring Akuma and Gill to the MK universe???

Kronika can do a lot of things…

Nash can kill you in 3 touches for sure. Juri can, it’s just because she’s a hit/runaway archetype she can’t do it without specific resources and confirms. Ryu can easily kill you in 2 or 3 combos also, he just has the Juri problem.

Same thing with Sagat. Hard zoner fireball archetype you’re going to be in range for fireballs more than the stuff that kills in 3 hits.

You want the MK Universe to get murderd I assume.

Honestly MK characters are the bottom of the barrel, when it comes to Power.
Akuma would have a one day rampage and erdaicate the entire Cast.

He does better than any of the characters I listed along side him but I don’t think he’s the type of character to put you to sleep once he gets in the same way that Bison or Birdie can, even though the upper limit of his damage potential is fair.

LOOOL…

What, against Shinnock, Onaga and Shao Kahn. @Cipher, your ignorance is just hilarious.

That Falke combo is pretty fun to do in Training Mode.

I can see Gill and Shao Kahn be equal
