SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

Keep playing Akuma, dude is ridiculous.

Yo I need some doctor of Frame Data or someone like that for help, please. I’ve been testing a rather simple scenario in Training Mode and get results I just cannot explain.

Sagat does Critical Art which has a Startup of 7. (I see the “Let’s see you beat this!”)
I (Kage) immediately (mash) respond with V-Trigger Activation.
Then, after my activation recovers, I can immediately do Demon, CA or EX Shoryuken to beat Sagat’s CA in time.

So far, so good. When I try it with Kolin, however, it just won’t work. Same scenario:

“Let’s see you beat this!”
I (Kolin) activate V-Trigger 2 ASAP.
I mash CA (or alternatively do EX Vanity Step) after activation.
I get hit by Sagat’s CA, my move does not come out.

Why?? I don’t get it at all. I double checked the Frame Data in the app and on Capcom’s site and it showed no indication of why the two characters should behave differently.
I know of no wonky interaction between Kolin and Sagat. Escaping his CA with Medium Vanity Step is tight, but works fine (as it should, according to frame data). Accidental Parabellum also does not come out.

Any ideas or explanations? Thanks guys

Wife dragged me to see Alladin.
Is sad how Disney tries to remake the success of let it go

Are you doing a raw super on this?

Because here are the situations:

Kolin’s VT2 is 1 frame start up and 5 of recovery. The whole thing last 6 frames.

Kage’s VT2 is 1 frame of start up and 4 of recovery. The whole thing lasts 5 frames.

Sagat’s Super is 1+6 (so the super freeze happens and then 6 more frames until you get hit) and 6 active.

So if you are Kolin and you activate your VT2 point blank, you’re basically standing still for 6 frames 1+5 of recovery total. Those are the 6 frames where Sagat’s super is about to hit you. OTOH, Kage activates in 5 frames total, so he has 1 frame where he’ll be able to block given that you activate his v-trigger on time.

Both happening point blank, Kolin is getting hit on the last frame of the recovery of her v-trigger, Kage recovers 1 frame early and can demon during it.

If it doesn’t make sense from this, I can break it down with proper japanese frame data reading which would clear up some confusion.

Thanks! I checked Capcom’s Frame Data which states that Kage VT2 has 1+5. That’s why I was confused. How do you know it’s inaccurate?

I’m using FAT.

I’d have to fire up the PS4 and test stuff to double check it. Can’t do it at the moment though BUT that should be the situation.

that would make Kolin neutral wouldnt it? demon wouldnt be instant

“Framedata for SFVAE” and Capcom say 1+5. Recently I stopped using FAT lol and now it haunts me^^

It sounds goofy in US notation, but when you look at the way japanese actually write their frame data, Sagat’s super is actually

1 (super freeze) + 5 start up + 6 active.

Japan doesn’t include the first active frame in the start up, the US does though. Japanese notation shows the situation better.

Sagat goes first, 1 frame is done.

Kolin goes second, Sagat is on his second frame (if all done perfectly).

Sagat goes through 5 frames of start up while kolin is her 1st frame of super freeze + 5 of recovery. Then the first active frame hits on the last frame of Kolin recovery from VT2 activation.

It’s a “buy yourself somethin nice pal you deserve a treat”

@Rakios Just tested it with Kolin and Chun (who also has a 1 + 4 VT activation in VT1). What I wrote down is exactly what’s going on.

If you want to double check it, make Sagat do wake up Super and then have kolin immediately activate VT2 and while blocking. You’ll notice that she’ll get hit. Chun on the other hand, won’t. She can also super sagat in response.

Hope all that explanation helped.

So Alladin is a shot by shot recreation of the cartoon, minus the escape from the dungeon which is substituted by the party scene from A knight’s tale, and there is an extra song to try create a new “let it go” as I said previously.
Solid movie, which ça va sans dire since the cartoon is one of the best Disney cartoons of all times.

Thanks a lot, Pertho! Turns out I can’t even trust Capcom’s own Frame Data 100%. My world makes sense again

Bruh. I watched like 15 minutes or DON during my break. I’m feeling it. Justin Roberts and JR being around helped me enjoy the lil bit I saw. Then I had to do additional research.

Please tell me why AEW has only been out since January and is slated to topple the WWE. How in the world?!?

You should really consider upgrading from that Virgin SuperHub. I hear the Chad UltraLocus is way better.
