SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

The select thing was dumb and the players should’ve been told to fuck off.

As for hitbox, I haven’t called for it banned. I don’t think it should be banned at the moment because its sort of a case by case per game. But you do have an execution advantage that is sort of undeniable in certain cases.

Adding an extra button just to have one more instance of jump was silly AF too. fuck all of them. You get a stick and 6 buttons. Deal.

“This controller allows for shit in this game that other controllers blatantly can’t do”. Not just “this makes stuff easier”, because that’s something you can overcome.

So in the specific case above (PCB allows for faster charging than is possible with any other controllers) I’d actually be in favor of a ban. Which probably means banning that type of Hitbox entirely for SFV, because checking for PCB type every single time is obviously not a practically enforcable rule.

It does both. Just accept like FlyingVe has, that you’re using a Cheatbox.

I am legitimately not aware of what concepts in Tekken you can only execute with a Hitbox.

Didn’t like her dash in that game and i like sfv more than sf4.

Fuck fast dashes

I don’t know where the miopic argumentation is coming from, but the issue is that you’re getting both on the same controller. Whether you get to do stuff that other people can’t will depend on the game. But whether or not you’re getting an advantage over sticks is pretty clear; specially in tekken.

Any stuff that involves going to neutral (so KBD and EGWF) are going to be a lot easier because your directions reset to neutral faster than a stick.

Nobody is saying less of a player for it. But you are getting advantages you wouldn’t get on stick.

I mean yeah, that’s the easiest way to really say whether something should be allowed or not, so that way there’s no bad gray area.

Is something physically possible on current technology? Then let it rock even if it makes it easier.

Is it allowing you to do humanly impossible things? Then shut it down.

If we are talking about online play only then hitbox is nothing compared to the deadliest combo off them all.

Keyboard + autohotkey.

If you have some knowledge about the software you can do crazy scripts with it.

I can bind an entire crush counter combo to one single button.

It’s all about knowing how much you need to delay when the key comes out and ofc the keys in the proper order.

Benefits ? You can have combos on one button.
Problems ? You get worst at the game in time if you depend on this style.

I’m sure they’ll add another braindead dimension to SF6 where in your face rushdown will look like methodical footsies.

I don’t have any experience with Kara grab games but I’m fine with more shit being on the ground.

heheheheh fuck Juri

Naw fuck that I’m good.

Guile: Nooooo Nash whaaaaat happened to yoOoOoOou!?!?

Nash: Bison killed me but then this magic ice lady did mad scientist experiments on me and now I have nothin’ personal kid powers and OOOOOOH THE RAAAGE AND OOOOH THE HATE DIE DIE DIE

Guile: That’s not very American of you

This is what NRS does we don’t need this shit and having some 1.3 second clip of Ryu and Ken punching each others fist is just pointless bullshit.

Prease undahstandoh

Naw I like my easy mode hit confirms

I agree but Capcom wants people to struggle so when their character does get like 1 adjustment it feels like they found on oasis in the desert.

Prob gonna be f2p so they can justify releasing the Ken and Raiyou rotation pack.

Naw you’ll be back

No one ever really leaves

Sure, I’ll explain how this works:

Imagine chun lie has Birdie’s SF5 normals for some of it, Nash’s cr.mk that’s cancelable into a super that leads to either a corner carry or a 50/50 situation and because of kara throw, she gets to regular throw you from Zangief’s jab SPD range.

Welcome to the world of Street Fighter 3!

Even that needs clarity.

A hitbox by definition will allow certain inputs to be far more practical than on another device. The gap is much bigger than stick vs controller.

How meaningful this is varies from game to game. In the MODOK example, it doesn’t matter much because MODOK isn’t really good enough in that game… but on the other hand, does that even make it okay? You are a disabled MODOK without a hitbox?

I’m not trying to be pedantic, I am not sure where the line is, but I do think it’s important for the FGC to make a decision. One the line is drawn, then it won’t be guess work anymore.

Allow hitboxes. It’s up to the player if he uses it or not, don’t gimp the few that use them since forever.

Fine. Then what happens when something else comes along that’s even better?

Is it still up to the player?

To use an example from swimming (I was a swimmer through college). At first you had jammers (think shorts), then you had leggings, then you had body suits with exposed arms, then you had full body suits, then as body suits with head coverings were becoming a thing the governing body put the brakes on and outlawed most of that.

You can watch old Olympic footage to see the arms race and eventual end if you like.

This is a new territory for fighting games , it is very important to plant your flag somewhere. It doesn’t even matter where very much, but it must be somewhere.
