Of if you get it on Xbox you could play with me…
(Probably more SRK people on PS4)

MVC IS the original long combo game and it was anime’s fault that it became the REALLY long combo game. Eighting developed Marvel 3 and all of their games are about super long combos with lots of long hit animations. MVC2 was long combo in a more natural way and had more emphasis on resets. Xmen vs SF and MVC1 were kusoge, so yeah.
I wouldn’t complain about Marvel’s long combos because that’s like complaining about people turning left in NASCAR. I play Marvel more because you can do whatever you want whenever you want. It’s the game of no rules except very few rules and you can move where other games won’t let you move. It’s the Matrix.
The main problem is that just about every fighting game out there minus a small few are just about filling the opponent with lots of hits and capture state crap everytime you hit confirm. Good old single poke/short combo games is pretty rare and it’s bad when SFV is one of the best examples of an Evo game where combos usually don’t last more than 4 seconds.
Samurai Shodown will finally put an Evo game up there that isn’t about how long you can stop the opponent from playing after you touch them.
Since old titles are being brought back , i would like a new fighting game in the Double Dragon universe.
The Neo Geo one was fantastic and a fighting game really fits the series imo. This looked good, sounded good and played pretty good as well.
I used to watch tournaments for that game. It gets kinda nutty, but it was a well produced game, yeah. One of the rare 2d fighters with drunken master character.
If we’re getting out the shovels lets dig up a new Kizuna Encounter.
Why the fuck is it so hard to get accurate weather reports? I checked 3 different sources to see if we are expecting rain since its cloudy af and you can almost feel the water in the air. All of them have my area as just cloudy with 0% chance of precipitation. Run to the store around the corner for some WD40 and it starts fucking raining.
I say fuck Marvel and Disney so Capcom can just make a Capcom All Star fighter
MvC2 long combos are fast paced though. Definitely something you could research though. I bet there’s a delicate balance between actual time lenght, pace of the combo and the entertainment value in watching it that combine into the “feeling” that a combo is too long.
Never played this one and only heard of it a few yrs ago.
Wanna know which one I played?
This shit! The 2D Double Dragon fighting game that was based on the cartoon. It was actually a six-button fighter, which was perfect and generally seemed like the default for most fighting games in the 90’s. Game also had pseudo fatalities. Even had a Story Mode! What a strange fighting game.
Another preview of Evo Grand Finals
I unironically love DDV and all its shittiness. I probably quote something from it once a day
Smash Ultimate is there too you know
And Smash 4 before it~
Main reason why I find MvC3 and DBFZ boring af to watch tbh
Vergil Spiral Loops, Doom foot dive loops, and whatever DBFZ stuff is just boring to me
I think MvCI had relatively good balance of long combos in relation to how many actions that take place (active switch, combo “breaker”, etc) in the gameplay
You left out the best loop, zeros lightning loops
You’ve never seen a SMP loop before…
Edit: or a Tao taunt loop shudder
The best Loops are Loops that take forever and don’t deal real damage or have such horrid scaling that you take like 3 damage per hit.
But I hit a 6D Loop today and getting 4k damage for a DP punish seems like a good deal for me.
Now I only need to learn to flex on my opponents with Pot 6K loops.
The layout I use for my stick is:
[I] [1] [2] [S]
[G] [3] [4] [T]
Don’t know if that helps or is even legible. With this layout you don’t need the far right buttons (stance and throw). And you can do fatal with just the three bottom buttons.
Speaking of Marvel and long combos, here’s Endgame secret post-credits scene:
