I get what you’re saying now.

Do you think Capcom is done with making fighting games for this gen?

The only things that keeps me hopeful about Capcom when it comes to fighting games is their pride. If Capcom legit said “fuck it” they’d be leaving the door open for everyone else to take the crown. I know some people may say some games already did (Smash) but SFV is still current and people still play it. 5 or more years without a new SF post V could be both a good and bad thing moving forward. I say mostly bad because Namco and other will not skip a beat if SF is out of the picture.

But that samurai pride might make them shit out another game or two if that means letting everyone know who the OG’s are.

If there’s a new Capcom fighting game, It’ll be cross-gen hopefully with crossplay enabled. Kindly like how Guilty Gear XRD released on the PS3 + PS4.

There’s too many consoles sold this gen and they won’t want to pass up these extra sales.

I think that’ll be the same for KOF 15. Cross-gen with crossplay enabled. With the option to exclude players on Steam/PlayStation/Xbox in settings.

Nobody is taking SF crowns ever. No other fanbase is a loyal to their game as SF players.

New SF gotta be NRS tier+50. If Capcom can do it they can coast on the next 10 years just fucking around.

I believe so. It’s already rumored that the next Marvel will be next gen.

I’m sure they feel they’re doing fine with just SFV (if not all the public feels that way). I believe it’s done for this gen considering they already said they would continue content until 2020. It’s easier on them to just focus on what’s working (SFV/CPT) until next gen.

If you wanna know why NRS aint shit, try and find the MK4 side tournaments.

Capcom somehow manages to get by with putting bare minimum effort into their game and nickel and diming the fan base and somehow it stays at the top in terms of views idk how they do it

Just look at all of the other “top games” that people complain about. Carl on Duty, LoL, Overwatch and so on. Once you got something that clicks you can spill plenty of milk and still keep people going.

The majority of SFV twitch streamers that I watch generally just talk in a real “hopeful” sense about new content coming for SFV. It doesn’t aggravate them like some of the people here. It’s just what it is and they’re enjoying the game or just complaining about gameplay stuff like tiers or CFN. For them they could wait 4 months until new characters. They’ll always be there.

Plus NRS and Namco don’t have Daigo, Tokido, Wong, Xian, Punk, NuckleDu, Alex Valle and so on playing in their tournaments. People will do whatever they can to watch these guys play in tournaments. Daigo is basically a celebrity outside of the FGC at this point and those SF names get people to watch SF. The big names in NRS and Namco are harder for casual watchers to name in comparison.

Even if I didn’t think they were taking a break, they’re definitely done for this gen. The next gen is right around the corner.

Its not a binary deal. I can like a game and not need to go back and play it. I do it all the time with other genres. Sf isn’t an exception.

Sonys ps4 spiderman. God of war. I love the shit out of both those games. But i don’t need to play them again.

Sfv is in the same boat for me. I like it. But it can’t get me interested again without some new shit.

I won’t believe this until I see it.

Last gen we spent 5 years with everyone telling us next gen was “right around the corner”.

The primal shriek he lets out had me rolling.

Whose the douche making Daigo have to learn the Hitbox?

@Akhos I watched that matches compilation vid you posted. My advice would be really basic so I’ll leave that to the truly l33t players on here but I wanted to say that the Blanka you played was one of the most online ass Blankas I’ve seen in a while. Just watching it made my eye twitch.

This hits home so much, except my sound effects were ghetto as fuck

Credit where credit is due, MHW has free content updates all the time, is easy to jump into at any time, is a polished AAA title, and has a pretty addictive loot/MMO style loop to it. Also, RE2 has had a good amount of free content updates since it came out a few months ago, and outsold all expectations. I think Capcom is just doing so well with other IPs. They’re aware that SF fans will keep playing SFV without regular updates because it’s PvP driven. Their other cash cows aren’t, they’re either coop or single player, so if they don’t pump them full of content, people will stop playing.

SFV’s roster is chunky enough imo.Ofc there will always be fan favorite characters that people want, no matter if the roster would be 100+ characters.

But i think it can live without any new characters until SF6 is added.

They should add new CA / v-skills and balance patches though so the game stays fresh and meta changes a bit.I doubt that would cost them as much as developing new characters.

PS : i still want Gouken though.
