SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

You joke but meter build in SFV is fast enough that it is kind of true.

It’s another thing that kind of irks me but the chars in this game usually feel designed around having their EX moves pretty readily available (plus you can look at readily available CAs as another come back mechanic).

I didn’t have the game a full week early like alioune did.

Why not? You slacking?

That’s a bad welding mask wearing a waifu costume.

D’Vorah is best girl, none of your anime bimbos got nothing to deal with that.

Don’t @ me.

I’m playing the MKX story just to catch up and it just reminded me how much I dont like how its always obvious that in specific character chapters they will win

Like am I supposed to believe that this Kung Jin kid beat up Kotal Kahn just because I play him in this chapter? Lol

QFT

Kotal may lose in story mode but apparently he sleeps with Jade now, which makes him a winner in life I guess.

I just hopped back on ranked for a bit on my PS4 account which I guess is essentially a smurf long as I’m using Falke. Diamond G already lost and doned me after I lost a rusty first round and then swept the other 2 rounds to win with Falke. I have the neutral of that match down really well where once I get going unless you do something crazy you’re probably not going to hit my Falke until you’re almost dead and have to rely on s.MK VTC or dash low VTC (which I’m going to look for). If I get 60 or 70 percent life lead start to pack it up already.

Switched to Ibuki and won set vs barely Super Diamond Gief player (who’s still barely SD). Used to beat him pretty easily with my Falke minus a couple times. Still gotta get to actually learning trigger setups but whatever.

Then beat yo_mommazbro the other Super Diamond hell Blanka player who one and dones you unless you beat him the first match then obviously asks for rematch LOL. I used to always beat him so he usually didn’t ever get to one and done me. I beat him with Ibuki and timed him out on the rematch screen just because I know he’s a douche that won’t rematch if he somehow beats you. That’s fine. He can stay in Super Diamond hell forever and trip people up who aren’t hip. He’s living up to the Blanka online troll thing.

I’ll do this a bit longer and then go back to getting Kage practiced up.

Right now I’m just playing Urien kage and akuma.

I like this spread. Command grabs, jumpin mixups, cheap ass v triggers, good lows, strong pokes, DP AA, ex reversals, 3 framers, fireballs.

How you liking the differences between Akuma and Kage?

Urien is just so good at playing SFV. With or without trigger he can end you.

It’s kinda the same and kinda different for me. I feel more comfortable with Kages neutral, because of the focus attack, but I’m more effective with akuma because of the jumpin mixups.

Overall I like kage WAAY more. Kage can fucking end you with 1 or 2 mixups and knowing that allows me to play much more patient. I also never feel like I’m out of the race, even when I’m down 80% life… which to me feels like “real” streetfighter. Whereas with other characters if I have like no v trigger and no meter and I’m low on life I feel like why bother… bit kage in that situation I feel like his oki and pressure can still make a comeback viable.

Just a comfort thing. I’m not yet if the opinion that he’s high tier, but his robbery is strong if you are a strong player.

I’ve not seen anyone put him together yet though. There’s a ton of latent destructive power in his moveset that’s not being used.

-edit

There only a few things kage is better at than akuma though. Akuma is the better character.

Kage deals with pokes a bit better imo with his fhp and his v skill.
Kage has the better Enders in v trigger.
Kage can cancel into demon for hyper damage in combos.

…and that’s about it. He has the better upclose moveset as well, but it’s not heads and tealis better than Akumas.

Told you you’d like Kage. You liking the true block string c.MK fireball or using other stuff?

Yeah it’s the early phase so a lot of Kages are still missing a lot of things. Plus his triggers are both viable and change the way you have to use him. Which means people are going to play him different just on what trigger they use.

I’m guessing you’re using VT2? I’m starting to see more of how that trigger can take the match back from almost anywhere if you get the mix ups to land.

Primarily I’m just using his v skill in neutral and his cr.mk xx FB.

His cr.mk xx fb is probably what I most like about him. It’s the best one in the game. Better than Akumas. I use vt2 with him. Don’t have the mixups down yet but it’s basic anime style mixups. Use a different frame kill for different looks for the opponent. It’s very deep, so your kage practice should tbh be all about using vt2 and being able to do like 5-8 different frame kills that each have different set options. With that the opponent won’t be able to react to your frame kill and they will basically be fucked. Just use the actual combo to figure out what frame kill you want to use… just like in anime where you think about what kind of oki or reset you will use during your combo instead of making it up on the fly.

In skullgirls with PW I used literally one combo, but I had about 10 different reset points and each of those reset points had option trees no smaller than 3 and as high as 7 or 8.

Kage realistically can’t get that high an amount of variations, but he can get close.
