SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

OZ neutral buffs with Koku are insane, don’t underestimate the changes to them. Ryus button usage in neutral is pretty limited, I would agree with Mike. About the same.

Slightly less good Guile still seems like good enough of an option. Losing meterless invincibility on his regular flash kicks probably killed Daigo’s close defensive game with him though. Ryu is better, but it’s Ryu.

That’s the thing with Y.Zeku. He’s not hard to optimize compared to Ibuki and he’s played best using his walk speed and slide until you get into plus 3 frame trap range and run that until they are in the corner/dead. The best way to play the character is still going to be to get slight life lead with O.Zeku then run in with Y.Zeku. It’ll show that Daigo can play rushdowny characters, but don’t see it doing much other than that. Trying to get the most out of O.Zeku won’t beat playing Guile instead.

It is what it is. Unfortunately for those that don’t like it, the way Unsung and AngryBird play Zeku is already mostly optimal.

It could work, just don’t see it being regular top 3 CPT major work unfortunately. I’ll admit I won’t have a problem watching it though.

Bison sucked in IV so wasn’t going to get too much about him or Phenom. Problem X was a Viper/Seth player then, but seeing how much he sticks with Bison in this game I figure he probably did want to use Bison in IV also if he was better. Phenom held on to Bison at least for a little while and interestingly the only person really still holding Necalli down.

Phenom was another young and upcoming who just wasn’t playing a character cheap enough. Rose was basically a much better version of Bison who had better FADC and ultra tools. With ProblemX, Seth and Viper were really good, but they weren’t Yun/E.Ryu/Elena either.

He can stay mad AF all he wants. Makoto has to build that bar and get a command grab on a specific part of the screen to do it.

Not like she’s getting beat up, lands a random 3 frame button and suddenly gets 2 mix ups worth of horse shit out of it.

Yea maybe not top 3 but he wasn’t getting regular top 3s with Guile so thats ok. The thing that would gate keep him is that sfv hasn’t been a game where neutral wins tournaments in a consistent way. Gotta have some vtrigger comebacks in there to steal some rounds because we all kniw whoever is in top tier will definitely be stealing rounds often

I’m trying to get better at neutral and I’ve realized my game is lacking two things the main being whiff punishing and to a lesser extent input buffering.

For whiff punishing I’m wanting to know how alot of y’all go about it and how much much are you thinking about it playing footsies. It’s something that I rarely implement unless it’s super obvious like Alex getting bad spacing on that punch where he spins around. Laura doesn’t have the best walk speed or buttons for it but I’m aware everybody can do it some are better than others.

And I was watching a video on Laura’s neutral in general and input buffering came up it was described as you could input the move after a button and if done fast enough the special would only come out if the move hits. Maybe I misunderstood the video I’m well aware of buffering in general for confirms but not that.

We gonna pretend that an Evo Finals wasn’t Seth vs C.Viper?

LoneDragon levels of downplaying.

The makoto TOD is kinda tricky, you need to be in the corner,2 bars and know your character specific juggles. The TOD doesn’t work on everyone cause of different juggles and fall timings

Gustavo is a really good player, but it says a lot about his 09er ass that he isn’t complaining about Yun spending a bar for a 30% juggle that ends with him getting half his super meter back.

801_Strider be wack.

Which Evo finals we talking about? I remember Roses, Kens and Adons. Sagat too but that was lucky considering the climate of the game really.

  1. GF was Fuudo vs Latiff. For some reason I blocked that part out and only remembered Poongko vs Latiff. Maybe because that was a bunch of crazy nonsense with two characters that can go drown in a river.

:joy:

  1. Fuudo (Fei Long)
  2. BrokenTier|Latif (C. Viper)
  3. Poongko (Seth)
  4. MCZ|Daigo Umehara (Yun)
  5. eLive|Kindevu (Yun)
  6. MCZ|Tokido (Akuma)
  7. WolfKrone (C. Viper)
  8. Flash Metroid (Zangief, C. Viper)

3 Vipers in top 8. When will the viper downplay end?!

I was referring to Ultra era SFIV where Problem X and Phenom were most so starting to come around. You’re bringing up an era before the players we were talking about.

It was nice to have the demonized character Yun not win Evo back in AE, but it was most likely going to happen either way if Kazu could do what he did with “nerfed” Ultra Yun.

Problem X was doing work back then too. It just that European players weren’t getting he respect they deserved. Problem played Rufus too, didn’t he?

I can answer this one!

Basically you Input the normal followed by the special as if the opponent were getting hit by it (ala training room). But you throw the button at a range where it will either whiff, or the opponent will walk into it. So it’s kind of an OS. If it wiffs the special won’t come out, and if it hits you get the cancel. A lot of time you see a 1-hit move into super this is what is happening.

Alternatively they could just be talking about canceling into a safe special move.

Did that answer the question?

Can only find videos of him playing Viper and Seth and that’s like 5 years back so if he did it must be on some weird part of YouTube at best.

I literally was not watching SFIV during AE cuz thought it was terrible (and already didn’t like IV in general). If he was doing work back then I didn’t see it. He was more visible to people who didn’t watch the game all the time once CPT became a thing. I might have stayed caring about it if Ultra came out directly after Super (it actually fixes SOME of the things I couldn’t stand about IV), but it came out far too late.

I’d like to see some real early AE era Problem X though. He must have been already playing for a while if he was going in in 2011.

He was basically the European Punk. Dude was terrorizing the fuck out of the UK with bullshit. Every time he was on stream it was basically the lowkey “this dude is really good (fuck him TBH)”.

Ah ok yeah that’s pretty much what Punk was in IV. He had some talent already but he wasn’t going to be visible to anyone who didn’t play/watch IV regularly.

Yeah that pretty much answers the input buffering part.
And that’s pretty much how I took it is that it’s like a OS.

There’s a reason why Tominaga remained the only one able to pull that TOD 24/7, Gustavo don’t even know what he’s talking about. At least Makoto BS was locked down behind execution barriers, not getting bitch slapped around.

I have another thought about insane. You think OZ can stand his own against heavy zoners like Guile or even Sagat?

Yeah, me neither.
