SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

It takes a lot of time to go through matchups for a 30 something roster any way. You can get ok results without going through the science of every matchup since the upper cast does get by at just being better at turning the game around or having better neutral than the lower cast.

Also I wanna know what McDonald V Trigger is and why it awards 0 points.

To contrast the superior “Wagyu” V Trigger, which is named after expensive Japanese beef.

McDonald’s vt = dhalsim
Wagyu vt = akuma

Kage is a very Xian character though. Xian’s skill set covers Kage’s deficiencies in neutral, and then Kage gives Xian a huge tech-based toolbox to run mix-ups once he’s in.

I think it works fine if you just take it at face value. Assuming you get the right point allocations of course.

@DevilJin_01 i guess like half the community is drunk. Myself included

Anyways i don’t think cpt is gonna look much different. Maybe theres an extra zeku that gets eliminated before top 8 and we see less of Guile but the strong characters are still strong and the ones who got buffed weren’t buffed enough to pull top players off their mains.

I think at most you’ll see cameo appearances in winners side early from peoples fuck around characters.

I followed Xian’s stream when he was doing his “scientific” tier list, I think his system by the end of it looked like this:

Ability - Points

3 Framer - 3
Activate VT+ on block - 2
Command Grabs Loops - 4
Fake Corner Throw loops - 3
Invincible reversal - 5
Wagyu VT - 5
McDonald VT - 0
OP/Good EX Moves - 4
OP/Good Crush Counter Move - 3
Fast Dash In - 3
Anti Air Reward - 2
Good V-Reversal - 3
OP/Good Normal Moves - 4
Good V-Skill - 3
Good Corner Carry - 4
Walk Speed - 3
Jump Arc God - 4
Tick Throw - 3
Easy 50/50 - 5
Fast/5F Medium Attacks - 4
Good Confirmable Move/Low Cancel - 3
Corner Monkey - 4
High Meterless Stun/Damage - 4
Corner Pressure - 4
Good Backdash - 3
Side Switch from Corner - 5
Good Health - 2
Zoning - 3

I originally wrote this in a more readable way, but the forums kill formatting.

For further reference “Jump Arc God” should be the ability to change the jump arc like any divekick character, and “Corner Monkey” is the ability to get out of the corner easily (aka, Rashid).

Yeah, but the bar is fun.

Evo Japan should be fun also since it’ll get out all of the crazy asians that wanna play non meta characters and see how far they get. Won’t be surprised if there’s another Top 16 Kindevu Sakura deal going on. It’s not a CPT event so it’ll just be about old school fighting it out with what you like to play. With the new season/patch out also even some of the jersey players will probably take some risks with the possible new meta.

Xian skillset cant make up for kage’s trash neutral (because you have to play against pros with better neutral game and better reaction) or ibuki’s brandead v trigger or get in tools.

I’m just saying Kage is going to look stronger to a player like Xian than to a player like Justin Wong or like Punk.

And yeah, I don’t think Xian is leaving Ibuki any time soon.

Looks like daigo is settling on young zeku. Only capcom sees old zeku as strong. He’s stream atm.

Pretty obvious situation. Every other current top player that uses Zeku mainly relies on going in with Y Zeku to win. Only other person that is known for a heavy O.Zeku game is Sanford and well, you don’t see his name at major events at all. O.Zeku is still just mainly a way to transition to the Zeku that actually wins you matches.

Problem with that is that it’s going to eventually force Daigo into mostly playing a character that’s suboptimal for his play style if he always is just going to switch to Y.Zeku like Angry Bird any way. Fine for now, just not CPT material for him at all.

That’s too bad as his FANG is the stuff legends are made of.

Oh, for sure! But Xian needs to win stuff occasionally too.

Didnt he play Yun in sf4? I agree it’s not most optimal to how he plays but then he can play it to some extent considering this is sf5 and every char rushes down including guile and ryu. Just young zeku is more hit confirm/whiff punish heavy. But i think he’s hit a wall with Guile. Guile players havent managed to be consistent this season despite being played by the best of the pros.

For a scienific tier list to be even remotely valid the methods used have got to be solid. It’s not how many tools you have but how powerful they’re. Guile has a few tools but its all strong and he’s like top tier. Same for cammy.
Dhalsim needs to be judged by a separate barometer.

This is a good way in theory to look at things, but it’s not anymore valid than any other tier list from players “not as skilled as him”

Simply because the point system on what is strong is arbitrarily up to him.

The tier list would look totally different for someone that valued 3 frames and walk speed more and reversals a bit less

It also falls apart around mid tier…

It’s a solid way to look at things and I think on average its how much people approach tier list anyway subconsciously.

He only played Yun during the one year he was super OP and he mainly did it more to make a statement. He knew the character was clearly above the strength of any shoto in the game so played to show that he was ready to play the character that was clearly too good for the game. There was a lot of talk about how the game would get to a point where Yun/Yang, Makoto and a few other characters would be the only ones that would be worth playing if 2012 never launched. It made sense then.

I believe this is just off season Daigo experiment mode. Once CPT starts and money and sponsors start flashing all over the place again, he’ll go back to finding who is the strongest control shoto/guile character for him.

Think I’m gonna try Abigail for a little while. Just curious about something regarding myself and how I approach things.

And what @DevilJin_01 mentioned a while back regarding potential Menat pairings.

And, well…the idea of maining the two characters people seem to hate the most is admittedly enticing
