SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

Maybe so but I’m just saying I can relate to Sanford. It doesn’t feel like he loves SFV so of course he’s not going to be as good as he was at SF4.

Thats a fair point as well. There have been games where im playing and i know i gotta be up for work and its already 2am and im like alright one more hour. With sfv sometimes i think i have work in the morning and don’t even turn my ps4 on all week.

I just played an ultra or super diamond gief and got my ass handed to me. Nice guy. Gave some tips. But if anyone in here could take a look at the games and tell me what I could work on with regards to my spacing and decision making that would be awesome. I know I should have reversaled more but my controller said no a bunch of times and I just got hit low by cr.lk.

I also played this player with my Urien versus some of his other characters and won, but they weren’t his main. He mains gief and abby.

I’m just at a loss as to what to do in neutral versus gief, one mistake and I’m in the blender.

I was also destroyed by Gief a few days ago.
I can deal with the ones that are jumping or taking risks. But if gief is downbacking, reacting to jumps/dashes and slowly walking me to the corner with cr. jabs and mp…not sure how to deal with that. Akumas buttons are just losing and fireballs are really risky.

Those are the really dangerous ones. Most of the neutral plan against Gief is keeping your pokes low and well-spaced but more importantly, bait some mistake out of him so you can enforce your offense.

Mid pokes are relatively dangerous because of St. HP armor, you definitely don’t want to get CC’d by Gief.

LP DPs are underrated against Gief. Some times it’s just what you need to get out of the blender or at least get the Gief thinking more about your wake-up.

Nvm. I just watched Nemo versus Itazan topanga league and holy crap does it look like me versus that diamond gief. We just have less tech and reactions but the spacing and mindgames and even movement are very similar.

So, Nemo blew up itazan right there. Things I took away:

Abuse the shit out of cr.mk, keeps giefs st.hp honest.
Use fmp as AA
Charge fireballs once the gief is committed to non yolo anti fireball stuff (like fhp instead of jump or dash in)

Ok I think I got this now.

Watch the Lariats and Knees.

I teach tens of thousands of people to play fighting games and have winning records against many major NRS players.

Sorry old man dime but sanford freaking sucks and I don’t give a flying fuck about what he did in the past I own him for free!!!

I only have it out for people who are complete assholes. Sanford is one of these people.

I was about to make a joke but then I remembered we’re in the PC era.

Where are you located? I have few extra sticks if your friend is in that much of a bind.

Sanford always had really strong fundamentals. Doesn’t really take you to the top in sfv unless you have the gdlk reactions of punk/tokido

Sanford’s strongest strength in smash terms would be “complainsies”

Sanford will be back once we get Oni.

Seems more accurate.

So I finally managed to snag one of the MadCatz Fight Pad PRO’s for myself today, just came home with the purchase. Everything that I’ve read about the thing was mostly negative and described the original revision, so I’m wondering how will the v2 perform considering the updated d-pad and the fixed “sticky” buttons.

Haven’t really used it as of writing this comment, though I do have some initial impressions vs the Hori Fighting Commander I bought last year:

Pros:

  • it’s bigger than the FC, which I like. It’s not too bulky like the Dualshock 4 but it’s not too small like the FC either. Maybe it’s the fact that I haven’t held a Genesis pad in a long time but I’m not too comfortable with the FC’s formfactor
  • physically, I like the FPP’s d-pad. This one is closer to Genesis era and is definitely an improvement over that ugly ass flat plastic circle the original revision had, so I’ll be able to tell the direction I’m pressing just by touch
  • the buttons are all clicky (including the PS/Home button) but aren’t too loud. They seem just fine for home usage and should still be quieter than your average fightstick, but still seem louder than Dualshock 4’s, for example. The Shoulder buttons (L1/R1) are especially clicky though, I’d like them to be just a bit quieter
  • The front has a built-in LED to identify which “player” the controller is assigned to (this is also helpful for tag games offline and while using it on the ps3, though I’m unsure if it lights up additional/multiple LEDs if you go beyond number 4
  • the touch-pad is a bit smaller than on the DS4 but is nicer to touch/press, its surface feels a bit smoother
  • the functionality is basically all the same as you’d expect on the original controller or on the Hori FC - all the buttons are here, you get to actually use an analog stick (and it can be assigned to either the left or the right one), and you still get the switches for the Console mode (PS3 or PS4), and what the shoulder/trigger buttons act as (L1/L2/R1/R2 or L3/R3/L1/L2)
  • The cable on this thing is REALLY long. It’s 3 meters, which is I think about a meter longer than the FC’s cable, so the distance at which you can play whatever game you want certainly isn’t gonna be an issue

Cons:

  • The controller’s body on the front is all glossy plastic. That means this thing is going to be a fingerprint magnet (just like the HDD cover panel on the OG PS4 model, for example), so you’ll have to be extra careful and wash your hands after touching literally anything that is not the pad itself. It looks nicer than the FC, sure, but the FC doesn’t require “cleaning” since its body is just regular (albeit cheapo) plastic
  • I think the d-pad itself could’ve been made bigger. My issue with both DS4’s and FC’s d-pads is that they feel like they could’ve been just a bit bigger, especially the FC’s one since it has so much god damn space on the front and I can’t help but think Hori kinda wasted it. MadCatz doesn’t impress me here either
  • I’ve read that people often accidentally hit the analog stick while playing which creates unwanted inputs. I do agree that maybe it should’ve been placed differently (a little bit to the right perhaps?). We’ll see if the complaint is entirely fair, but in theory switching the mode to Right stick should be enough to eliminate the issue
  • The buttons are spaced out a bit further apart horizontally compared to the FC, while being placed closer vertically. This might hurt the experience a bit for plinking/sliding across the buttons if necessary
  • I legit wish this wasn’t branded with the SFV logo specifically, gonna feel real weird playing non-SFV Games while using what is essentially an SFV product. Not necessarily a concern or anything, but I just would like if MCZ made these with logos for other games too. Qanba is certainly an MVP there but they only make sticks.
  • I’m not feeling the “trigger” like L2 and R2 buttons on this one. MadCatz were making a fightpad, yet they also tried to appeal to the general gaming crowd by imitating some of the default Dualshock 4 elements. I don’t think this was a good idea as people who like the DS4 will still use the DS4, not to mention the FPP can’t even be used in every game since it lacks a secondary stick and the motion sensor
  • No headphone jack in this one. I guess it’s understandable since it’s wired and not wireless, but then again there are more expensive solutions like the Nacon Revolution Pro and the Razer Raiju, so you’re kinda SOL if you want to keep using your wired headphones (just regular 3.5mm headphones) while still playing on the FPP. Alternate solutions include hooking up the DS4 to a secondary profile (and outputting the sound through it), or seeking out wireless headphones/connecting them to your TV, assuming your gaming place allows that. Mine sadly does not, so I can’t exactly enjoy the full quality of the fighting game’s audio experience unless I stick with the DS4, which is wack
  • While the grip for the left hand with which you’ll be using the dpad, the analog stick and the left shoulder buttons is nice, I think a similar handle would be helpful for the right hand as well. This makes the pad “uneven” and the grip on the right is shorther. I guess it makes sense considering they’re intending for you to use the “claw” grip when using something like this or placing it on your lap and pressing the front buttons like on a fightsttick

Also you get a few MadCatz stickers, which is pretty cool. Below is a size comparison picture between the Dualshock 4, the Fightpad Pro, and the Fighting Commander

Also I think @Daemos will certainly appreciate this one on particular given the logo on the front. Hail Shadaloo

Not everyone ages gracefully. As much as it seems like Sanford has a problem with his attitude toward the game, his hands or reaction time might not be there anymore.

Ha I got the same Madcatz Fightpad.

It’s collecting dust right now though.

I can’t say much about the Madcatz fightpad but the Hori FC pad sucks ballsssss. Had 2 of them and they both broke within 2 months.

My FC3 Pro eventually broke, which sucks because I love that form factor and it’s out of production.

But my FC4 has been a real trooper.

Thinking about it though, you probably do put an abnormal amount of wear and tear on. Chalk it up as a business expense.
