I didn’t realize you took a selfie while watching Mobbdeep’s amazing resets
I think maybe we’re using different definitions of “tool”?
“Shimmies are so important in SFV that high walkspeed is a very good ______ to have.”
There are thousands of things to attribute as tool. An sf5 example:
Do you have a medium medium link? Yeah? Do you have a medium>heavy link? Yeah? Does your medium medium trap 3 framers?
Etc etc
When people talk tools they are usually going for the most obvious things and MAYBE the tertiary components.
We aren’t breaking down whether or not a character has a special cancelable cr.lk or if they have an overhead that is sub 20 frames…
Shit like walkspeed, reversal, 3 frame, health, good low, good throw, command grab, fireball, dp, damage
Is a good place to start and probably more than needed.
I think all around I think generally:
Defense move?
Offense move?
Ranged move?
And then judge them on those parameters, more or less.
I’ll stew on your post awhile. The clock hath struck 12 and I’m turning into a pumpkin.
Happy New year all.
If ‘well rounded’ meant the same as ‘top tier’ there’d be no reason to have two axes on that tier chart. Every top tier would be on the upper right and every low tier would be on the lower left, it basically would just be a straight diagonal line and the areas on the upper left and lower right would be completely pointless. Which they aren’t.
Cross post…
DAAAAAAAMMMMNNNNN!!! He got OWNED!!!
I was thinking the same thing, people gets scared about YZ getting closer and jumping neutral looks like a good answer for them nowadays. Sadly Zeku doesn’t have low combos outside VT to utilize trip guard, so VT2 is an option. The best way to maximize his potential is activating the first part raw and the second part as a combo ender, the annoying part is the soft KD coming after the 1st part, isn’t an UKD like Akuma VT1 dp’s. Still prefer VT1 in general for his multiple purposes, but VT2 can be useful in specific situations.
Happy New Year SRK!!
Not the situation I’ve described before, but good to know.
Not a fan of javits tech, normally. (Hey if your opponent chooses one of 10 different options and you scout it out perfectly you can do THIS!!!)
That won’t be changing my mind. But I don’t think people realize how much more solid YZ gets with vt2 (or super) stocked. People don’t want to jump at you. And when YZ has super and vt2 stocked. GG. You’ve got 3 high damage AA’s to deal with on a character thatbhas fast walkspeed and good pokes.
It’s like giving gief a fireball.
But you have to be able to play solid in the first place. Not something every zeku can do.
I would choose it over vt1 EVERYTIME if I could combo from vt2 into super. Would never look at vt1 again.
incoming nerf to O.Z chip damage.
Happy new year, ya scrubs!
A more modern example would be season 3 Sakura vs Akuma.
Both toolkits are pretty complete on paper. However one is uniformly considered high tier the other low tier.
aye, Frost on steam too just hit me up whenever
Played some games in el Europe. Same thoughts as last time , level in comparison to rank seems to be a touch lower than Australia.
But…I have a theory on that though ( and this applies to America probably). I think the more volume of games and player pool dilutes the skill as the numbers get higher.
So in other words a country with a large player pool you have to go higher in rank to get the same skill as a country with a lower player pool ( because the country with the lower player pool gets much much less free points).
Example there 20,000lp ibuki , played more like a Ultra plat, low end Diamond from my region. Did kinda mid level stuff , didn’t really have great footsies.
Of course this could just be the players I got ( Ulta plat Kage before that played more like a lower plat gold level).
It’s almost like a science experiment doing this shit.
I can say though, the actual styles seem very similar , probably due to the limitations of the game.
Edit: Not saying one area is stronger than the other, I’m saying the structure of Rank is not quite the same.
I’m off now, I just wanted to give it a quick test connection wise. Set to 5 bars I got France that last game and the connection was solid.
i was gonna stream n everything ;_;
I love that Highland described Anime.
Small playerpool and most people who play these kind of games are actually pretty good.
Had a streamed FT5 yesterday and it was good.
Thing is having such a small playerpool actually benefits the skill growth, since you HAVE to learn if you want to stay alive.
Or you can just jump out and go to SF if your precisous little self estime can’t handle it if you’re getting your ass handed to you.
Playing Sg in a region with fewer people, I saw that overall, we were much stronger on average than Cali, though Cali had the strongest players.
At the time, I had a basic hypothesis and I still believe in it:
In a densely populated area, you play lots of different people, this allows more flowchart behavior to go unchecked. In places where players all know each other your style has to be adaptive in order to survive. When I placed at evo I was one step ahead of most players I played against simply because I knew the counters to my style of play and was ready for them when they came.
But of course there are also major weaknesses to this. Smaller regions have smaller playerbase to choose from and therefor fewer opponents to learn from, and since they have fewer players, they will inevitably also lack having that 1 in a million strong player that forces their entire scene to level up.
This may be why AU can have a strong gold to diamond level, but suffer in the higher ranks where the best simply don’t have enough people on their level to compete with the best around the world.
You be on this avo? Maybe in like an hour ? Just watching the footy with my dad. Don’t want to be a cunt and fly to Scotland to play Street Fighter lol
Gota pick my times!
