SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

I think Juri is pretty decent compared to the cast as a whole, but when you look at her play style there are plenty of characters that are covering that niche better without having to do any extra resource management.

Juri has not been bottom anything since Season 3.

Nintendo just flexed on him. He might need to sell SouljaCrack to stay afloat now.

Other than the good things. I don’t feel like any of this is true. I mean I guess you could think this way depending on your perspective.

His fireball is a 2 parter and doesn’t need both parts. Opponent jumps at the first part but no second part, they get AA’d

Opponent jumps over second part, they get AA’d. To get over the fireball they have to jump first part just as it starts up (can’t react jump) or the ed has to throw second part while his opponent is already in the air.

This means that a GOOD ed can first part, screenshot the ground, see opponent not jump and do second part. It can be delayed up to 19 frames. Have to learn to be able to do that though, not easy. His combo problems have mostly been addressed. Cr.mp now combos to psycho upper from around 95% max range. Cr.mk combos from what seems to be 100% range. Haven’t had that wiff psycho upper yet.

His st.mp,cr.hp link requires very close range, but you don’t have to use it.

One of the few characters that gets pressure off his reversal. Double dash st.mp covers both wakeups against 4 framers. Against 3 framers it will meaty backrise and lose to quick rise. But still a good option because it funnels the opponent into only 2 actions that can win. They either quickrise into 3 framer (Ed’s throw here wins and Ed’s cr.lp will also win and give full cr.lp,st.mp,cr.mk combo on Ch into the same KD if ed wants it. Plus you know, being able to reversal and go straight into pressure is pretty good.

His vt2 is basically a free in if you block his fireball. Have to v reversal him. Vt1 is 2 bar and gives him some good opportunities for hitconfirms into resets which can pile the stun on quick… no need to use the v trigger on block.

His main problem is converting CH or regular hit cr.mp from range. That is a decent problem. But if you are fishing for Ch from range, best to use st.hp instead. The CC is the same KD as the ex reversal and leads to the same situation with st.mp covering a multitude of options.

St.hk abuse can open up his dash in game, and let’s not forget that his charged v skill is basically a free way in and charges his trigger.

He may not be great for whatever reasons but he’s got some real assets.

In his VT2, you can actually backdash between his Fireball and his VT2 snatcher and it would cause the snatcher to whiff.

Juri is better than Ryu, Chun, Laura, ed, Fang, claw, Alex, gief, Abigail, Nash, Sagat, ken and dhalsim. Hell I’d argue she’s probably better than g, birdie and nerfed Cammy(or about even) too.

Fucking bottom tier? Holy shit gtfo with this downplay.

Ryu’s new fireballs are really good though. Don’t think she’s better than Ryu.

And if you are playing Zangief, you can just lariat it after you block his fireball and he goes for the VT2 snatcher.
Free 130 damage plus oki since the snatcher is a fireball.

Would it give you the lariat to oki stuff. I don’t understand how it works still.
I know that if he hits you when he is facing forward that he gets oki and if his back was turned he doesn’t, but does it all depend on how he canceled into the lariat ?

I think Juri has better matchups overall.

No, it does not. As long he his you with his shoulder (aka the two first active frames), he gets oki from it.
So it is all distance dependent.
To get oki from his usual target combo of jump in, headbutt, st lk xx lariat you have to do a microwalk before doing lariat.

Which ones?

Think its going to take time for people to legitimately assess the differences in the new Ryu. He can be active in a more Street fightery way than before and from farther away, the buff to Joudan makes him a bigger threat in footsies too.

He isn’t doing silly SF5 bullshit, but he is way better than season 2 and 3 Ryu,.

I agree Ryu is way good now. I just think Juri is better vs guile, menat and akuma.

Imo Ryu, necalli and Juri are the most well rounded characters in sfv.

The issue is that being well rounded in SFV doesn’t make you good unless you have your side of SFV unga.

I think Juri is a bit better than Ryu, but both are still at best mid tier imo.

I think Necalli is gonna get a buff or two in 4.5 .

I want it to be the frame data buff to his v-skill. They nerfed that and took a lot of oomph out of the character. He’s still fun but just feels lackluster.
