It was a prime reason to travel back then…and it was so hype to see random new and busted tech to be shown off during a match in tournaments.

It’s one of the things that makes playing Vega unfun for me. I have like a 50% life lead and then the opponent pops VT, gets in for free, and then I just lose from that one swing or I have to weather the storm and do almost nothing but block for the next 10-20 seconds.

LOL. Well it’s Laura so they’re not super free, but as free as they can get for the rank he’s at. IceEffect is the best Laura online outside of Idom and I used to play him regularly. He has me hardened vs every other Laura now. Most other grand masters that aren’t like Akumas, Cammys, Karins or something I have the match to a science I have to drop a game or sometimes take the 0 2.
I’m honestly surprised I didn’t lose to Mahreen the first 2 and only times I got her in ranked. I think once was before the patch and once after. I think part of it sometimes I snipe her streams and watch her practice her V Trigger setups. She loves air reset dash under low and as a Marvel player I’m already looking for that shit any way. I block the low then threaten jab or EX PP and get my space. Reset dash command grab would get me for free, but that basically ends their turn and she probably doesn’t wanna do that.
Other Super Diamond Laura I found in ranked beat him 2 0 and then again 2 0’d him (only barely) in casuals. Falke’s buffs perfectly helped her with Laura. Better neutral control vs her and df+HK is real trap vs her.
Oh and shouts to the GM Ed that one and doned me after I squeaked the win in with counter hit c.LP, shot super. Was a bit laggy, but I’m not quite 100 percent that’s why he one and doned me.

Problem with that here was that the tech was figured out over Twitter, no chance to save it for Evo because it was out in public before people realized it was reproducible tech.

One thing I’m beginning to realize is that the higher I get, the more one and done’s I see. Those don’t bother me as much because I don’t feel entitled to a runback. What is annoying is the “Lose, barely win the next game and bounce” type of people. I ranked down this guy yesterday, lost by an inch, and then dude just ran. Funny thing is I wouldn’t have been able to rank him down again but he still left.
I see a lot of people rank down players and bounce right after for a laugh. I don’t personally like doing that and even run it back against Ultra Plats (rare occurrence) if I knock them out of Diamond. I like to make a mental note of certain players so I can be more mindful on whether I should bother rematching. Most usually rematch so it isn’t a real issue.
Oh yeah I know I just mean in general. Overall tech is exposed and xcopied asap. And the patched…
Tech use to get a lot of floor time, even becoming part of the character core like magneto and sentinel. Even Kara uppercuts in SF5 carrying over from sf4 sagat.
Now…if it’s “unintended” and strong it gets patched out almost immediately
You’re high enough up the Grand Master ladder any way that you don’t really have to worry about the assholes that one and done as much as teh Diamonds and Masters do. If someone dips, hey you’re like 70 80 k in any way.
I was checking more of the footage I did watch of Sonicsol and it seems like his issues with Neon extend outside of that match. He brought up something he posted on twitter so possibly he might have posted up some highlight he had vs Neon and Neon didn’t like it. You don’t time someone out on the rematch clock unless you’re Wolfkrone or have a beef with someone.
Even one of his latest twitter posts is about him going off about Master Urien Destructive EX. Apparently Destructive said he couldn’t tech throws or something lol. I used to play against Destructive when he was still Ultra Diamond and he’s a pretty solid Urien. Have no problems with him and good to see he’s Master. Best part about Destructive is he’s in the Dosomethingrandom dojo which fits Urien well.
With Sonicsol it seems like his big issue is that he has himself really involved emotionally with a lot of the players so that kinda stifles him focusing on the game and what he does to win IMO. If I have an issue with a player I blacklist them and otherwise I just focus on playing and using whatever spacing/tech I need to improve.
