I agree that Apex is by far the best BR game (for all the reasons you listed), it just doesn’t do enough to make me really like it.
It brings it to the point where it’s “fun with friends”. And that’s fine really.
This is my first game like this so i can give some insight.
I like that it’s more tactical than other FPS’s because most of the time if you die you die for real and TTK is quite high. Less CoD style run n gunning, more “I see a guy in that house across the river, lets circle around and flank him from that hill.” High TTK makes if feel more skill and information based than if it would be otherwise. I’m sure other games do this, and better, but I haven’t played them to know.
Other things I like

Loot system means that tryhards (non-derogatory) aren’t running the same meta loadouts as soon as they hit the ground.

Titanfall sliding makes the movement feel more unique than most shooters.

Characters and weapons have roles without feeling super weak outside of that role like in say, Overwatch.
Like it’s not a game I’ll put 1000 hours into, but it’s a nice change of pace from most shooters and it’s free.
To be fair, camping is often bad in Apex because you need good loot or you get down to the final match and have no chance. So you just generally funnel your movement towards the ring while you scrounge.

Yeah I can’t play BRs alone either, shooters are a team game so I need some pals. Only thing I play alone FGs, and obvs single player experiences.
Yeah think of the ring getting smaller as negative penalty. It only really affects people not looking to fight to begin with, and those guys get slaughtered at the end anyway.

Anywho I haven’t played apex, I’m talking about fort nite and pubg.
Maybe apex fixed the stupidity. Idk. High TTK isn’t something that I generally like, but maybe it works well for that game, given what the game is.
The only character greater than for Oni is Oni>Evil Ryu, they are both clones but Oni shares less with Akuma and Evil Ryu shares with Ryu. SFV has ropes BTW

PUBG I think is a flat out bad game.
The other are just not my jam.

I prefer high TTK, but only up to a point. Apex feels like that happy medium where combat is definitely based on skill, but people still get mowed down if you run up on them with a shotgun in CQC or get a headshot with one of the heavy snipers.
Like the other day i had a Wingman (heavy pistol) with an attachment that ups headshot damage and I straight up just two tapped this guy who tried to run up on me.
All I remember about PUBG is that the devs sued Fortnite

Back in my day we called it DM even though I liked CTF and TDM
But I guess the word “death” is too toxic even though it’s just a deathmatch game with added niche and taunts.
Edit: Ok I’ll be truthful…give me a Battle Roy- Deathmatch game based on Mechs with full customization for the Mech and Waifus and I’ll shill it forever.

I am a UT kid so I still use the term team death match. All the halo kids use the term slayer.
I am not hating either, I fucking love halo.
It’s kinda like counter assault/alpha counter/dead angle/v reverse In fighting game.

I went 0-2 at a small online tournament today with Falke.
Lost 2x0 to a Master Kolin then 2x0 to a GM Kolin. I am so bad at SFV.
