Negative Penalty kicks only in if the stuff you throw out doesn’t hit anything.
As long as projectiles get blocked somehow it won’t kick in.
You can also provoke it by constantly backdashing.

Yeah it works well fot that game. You cant really be Guile Menat or Birdie levels of lame in that game regardless. I like hitting nothing and doing nothing and still having my meter and freedom to do nothing. Doing nothing is a right

Honestly if you would’ve asked me during late SF4 era what characters I wanted in SFV would’ve been my wet dream. Yet for most of the games life cycle I’ve only been heavily invested in Vega.
At least for me, I think what Capcom does with the characters you do get is more important than the raw checklist of characters. There are characters like Juri who i used to love who i don’t care for in 5 and characters like Chun who I never gave the time of day but ended up liking. Then there are the new characters like Kolin who I didn’t even know I wanted.
Of course this is all easy for me to say since my main was in the original 16, but if he wasn’t in the game at least I’d have a few options.
If I had to pick a character I wanted it probably be one of the as of yet unplayable dolls.
Juri’s design in 5 is a real damn shame tbh. They story mode away a really cool character for “reasons”.
Which is why all the story mode fetishists can go kick rocks. Story mode nonsense messing uo rosters is the worst.

I think its the other way around. They redesigned a perfectly fine character then used the story to “justify” the change. Like changing her VFX from pink to gray is an objectively terrible artistic choice. They just added the story justification for the loremongers.
It’s not just Juri who i didn’t like anymore though. Don’t care for SFV Guile, Akuma, or Evil Ryu/Kage either.

Juri got screwed over 'cause I highly doubt her original version fit in the unga crazy world Capcom wanted SFV to be, so they made up a story to take it away to fit that

They can mold a story to fit a roster (they used flashbacks to have a reason for Kazumi to be playable in Tekken 7), I’m pretty sure they pick rosters and playstyles first and mold their story around that
The only time I remember story stuff screwing over a roster is Injustice 2

There was a post with a little summary from an official sfv design book where it said that they changed the way projectiles work to be more on the offense side or something which would explain the way they went with Juri
not using this as an excuse though, her SFV designs sucks shit (then you look at how Guile whom while more offense sided still kept his projectile strength, and then how Menat orb mechanic works and it just makes the redesign all the more silly)
I think most of the models are cool, they can’t design a face to save themselves though.
Just an art portrait on the character selections screen would have done wonders.

The story had nothing to do with the roster decisions. Gief and Cammy weren’t originally supposed to be on the roster initially. Cammy took Decapre’s spot and Zangief got added since the Russia rep, Decapre, was removed. Kolin and Ed wouldn’t have two completely different character models if the that were the case. You don’t like story which if fine. Just say that. Don’t spout bullshit that isn’t true to back up your opinion. Abel had more story importance than several characters on the roster and he isn’t even playable.

Juri’s Feng Shui engine eyeball got ripped out of her head at the end of SF4 story. It got replaced with the Cuck Chui Engine one she has now.
