SFV Lounge: Makoto is coming for sure. F2P definitely. RIP Pertho's doggy

Mike Ross is very character loyalist and didn’t really pick anyone that was particularly top tier outside of Birdie who was like a dual main with Laura. He more so plays to place as well as he can with what he likes than pick and place for 1st. Leaving Johnny for Alex pretty much describes Mike in a nutshell.

Well who am I to judge. I play Pot in GG.
With Elph as sub, but I main Pot.

That’s like the same as playing Gief in this game. You just play to give people hell because no matter how low tier the character is, they’re still a problem and play against the meta.

It kinda reminds me of what Tager mains say about his Tier Placement.

Tager doesn’t care about things like Tiers or Match-Ups, he simply uses the power of Science to win.
You will get hit by Spark Bolt in Neutral sooner or later and then die to the power of science.
Even if you beat him 8-2, the Mu turns into 1-9 as soon as you get hit.

Also for some reason both of them got godlike Backdashs.
Tager has 22 frames of invul with 8 frames recovery and Pot has 27frames of Invul with 1 Frame recovery.

Also they both feel much more flexible than Gief, with all the options they have.
My favorite being InterContinentalPotemkinMissle. Fly like a bird! Agile and glorious!
Then crash on the opponent for a hard knockdown and start to churn the butter on them.

Anime games often give grapplers more consideration for their bad matchups. Tager maybstill suck against a lot of characters, but he has strong options that must be respected.

In streetfighter, they just use HP… (an exaggeration I know). I would rather play BBCT Tager vs Nu than SFV Abi vs his bad matchups.

Just EX Vroom through all your problems

This… does not work as well as you state…

Which is a good thing really, EX vroom leads to silly things if it succeeds

Both Pot and Tager are a product of Gief’s negative influence. Big, burly grappler = “Trash tier punchbag. Don’t even bother.”

Waldstein and Goro Daimon are much better references to what grapplers should aspire to be.

The absolute best designed grapplers I’ve ever deal with are:

  1. Thunder (KI3)
  2. POtemkin (GGAC)
  3. Broly (DBFZ)

True, but when Abi’s fighting a bad problem, it’s usually EX Vroom that gets through the worst of it

I hate that move, I’m so glad Ed can (usually) just punch through it

Yeah, I have learned to roll the dice with it as the reward is so good.

ED has some of the best options to shut down ABI gimmicks. But Abi can hold his own in an honest match with Ed I feel, so it’s not so crushing. Other characters… not so much…

It’s fun to fight Abigail when he’s not just gimmick running all over the place and being the thing everyone hates. I’m glad Ed can get him to that point.

Meanwhile Menat wins the match-up but I still hate it because one EX Vroom through a normal and I need a new controller

Yeah… I really enjoy EX vroom vs Akuma. The mind game goes something like this:

“Aha! You thought I was a smart, patient player. But it turns out I was a maniac all along!”

When I first played abby on his realease I came against a fang player. The matchup literally feels like 9-1

But I won because this fang was just not having it and tried to rush me down and play pure keepaway and ex vroom punked his shit.

I made multiple ex runs that went through 3 armor hits of fangs stuff.

Good times but that match is probably why I dropped abby. I don’t want to be reduced to relying on one move to try to win or have a chance at winning.

This is why I don’t play him in ranked anymore, too many character just explode him unless I get lucky.

He’s a decent counterpick though. As he warps some matchups, and he lets you gamble when you are out-skilled. Which as I’m still very much learning the game… comes up a lot.

So for w/e reason I’m watching Overwatch league. There’s a Korean player named Meko.

Meko is mexican slang for jizz.

Playing DBFZ makes me miss the pushblock mechanic in Marvel ;_;

With the difference that these lowtier punchbags will still tear you to pieces and actually got huge buttons and lots of Tools.
Giant Buttons and forward moving specials, with Guardpoints and/or armor.
They even boast high aerial mobility.
They still die to zoning, as the archtype should.
But since Arc doesn’t give their Zoners real Reversals, they just need this 1 Mistake to even tear their bad MUs appart.

What does Gief have?
Lots of HP and a playerbase that constantly cries how bad he is and how he needs buffs and green hand to function.

If you want to blame a game for gief, blame the Alpha series. Gief had relatively good walkspeed and a great sweep in SF2. They made him silly slow in the Alpha games.

Yeah, ST Gief is fucking terrifying.

Gief was also good in many versions of SF4.

Imagine if EX hand still knocked down…
