Stun is amazing. Man the newschool.

Stun is in GG as well and lots of other games. It’s a mechanic like anything else. Skullgirls doesn’t have stun, which is fine, but having it is fine to. I’m convinced players just want to sit down next to each other and play guitars and ukuleles all day.

Stuns ok, I like the bar too. Makes interactions a bit deeper. Like if they think you’re Gona reversal and they bait you can actually swing the pressure back or do something crazy like wake up throw.

I’ll always take the gamble on the stun because usually if you stun they are pretty much dead. Thats about as crazy as I get lol.

Do some shit like blocked knee EX DP or low step EX DP, watch brains explode.

3rd Strike is the best SF and the one that introduced the stun bar. Love how stun bar puts people on tilt. In 3rd Strike your stun went down slow AF too so once your shit was up high that was it you had to keep shit tight or take the dizzy.

Why are we talking about stun suddenly? Did someone complain about it?

I did. I don’t like it, never have.

To be clear, it doesn’t ruin games or anything.

I like it, but I think it’s a bad mechanic that probably shouldn’t exist if that makes sense.

It generates hype when someone is dizzied or close to it, and it provides another factor to balance attacks around. I also like that it forces action on the sides of both players.

However I think it’s bad in a way similar to VT’s are. You give the player presumably already kicking the other players ass and make life discrepancy even worse by giving the guy winning free hits. I feel like things that stack the odds in the winning players favor even more are one of the reasons we have things like OP VT’s and Ultra’s. In general I’m against things that give huge swing tools to either player.

Dizzy is a fun mechanic in any game where Akuma is. Bitch dizzies so fast, it is so fun!
In fact, they should have dropped his dizzy to 800 or 850 in S4. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dizzy can be fun as it let someone land a combo you might not see otherwise.

But you nailed it, it is an unecessary reward for hitting a player. Despite being something that attacks are balanced around, it very rarely affects attack selection.

A bad analogy, if, in basket ball, a team was awarded ten extra points if they scored ten points in a row.

3S and V do stun better then most games though by including the bar.

There’s been old man dark age forum SRK debates about stun longer than ever. Nothing wrong with not liking stuns as you’re just a newer form of some old man who’s also said they dont like them that’s participated in some paragraphs long debate about stuns.

I’d rather video games just be video games sometimes and I feel stun is part of what uniquely creates tension in SF. Since SF is the only game that still does stuns might as well keep it a thing. Lot of games are getting away from things like real chip damage. Not being able to kill with chip is one thing, but games that basically don’t have chip is like WTF to me, but if it works for the game then sure.

Before people complaining about V Trigger people had huge paragraphs about how supers make ST stupid. Some old men dont like getting hit by half life plus on block supers (that also are free chip/frame trap if you sit and block) just because Ryu built some meter doing hadokens.

Stuns overall are a big part of what make SF’s tension and it’s just too grandfathered to change. It’s something you know you are playing with when you enter SF and makes it what it is. Just like Guile’s booms and Ibuki’s mix ups, it’s SF.

I am not against stun expecially with a stun bar to show it, but I think GG stun system is better,
Normal hits do 100% stun and it is hard if not impossible to get a stun that way, while counters do 200% meaning if you keep trying to mash like a moron you get rightfully punished.
Then again the neutral of the 2 games is very different.

Like I said, I don’t think stun ruins games. It is, at worst a badly implemented mechanic. 3S again did it the best. It had moves, supers, and tactics based around scoring stun. In that game it felt like something he designers actually really considered.

In SF4 and SFV is feels like something that is there because it always has been.

I got nothing against chip damage (and you can find me supporting MK style chip on normals in the past). I just have never thought chip>kill was a good thing.

Daigo been grinding it out with Guile looking at CFN…

Pro tour starting soon. No more fucking around with Zeku.

Feels like some kinda Twilight Zone where we’re on SRK where people usually try and improve yet we’re battling over who’s the worst
