I remain picking both
Arcade or PlayStation version? The arcade version actually released later and fixed the numerous problems with horrid console version.
PS2 OG release.
Need that hot mess nonsense in my life.

So, Sagat vs Chun.
How do you zone a character with a slide that goes under low tigers, two different jump commands, a trajectory-altering move and jump-ins that sometimes just straight beat DPs? Especially when she can bully Sagat pretty badly because her normals are so much better than his, and she can use her kikokens as shields to close the distance and get to the mid-range?
The only tip I got from the Chun I just played was āSagat sucks thoā, which isnāt very helpful ._.
Tbh sliding under Sagatās shots is pretty bullshit and not only Chun can do it.
I feel for the big guy.
I think that is a big part of what makes him so hated. He has a really robust kit, which can be irritating to begin with if your char feels lacking, so figuring him out can take some doing and a lot of it varies based on your char.
Figuring that out on top of dealing with the usual shenanigans takes some time and patience. And while vids about him help unless itās the char youāre using you still need to get to the lab and figure out the fine grain stuff. I donāt feel like Guile or Menat require quite as much homework (probably because if you keep jumping you can eventually get lucky).
Today is boat day. Gonna rest up and think about SFV on the high seas. Looking forward to catching up on the thread when I get back. I go to sleep and I get a furry breakdown. Canāt wait to see what happens after a week.
What jump ins stuff Sagat lp dp or vskill dp? Sounds like theyāre being done late, especially a floaty jump like Chun-Li.
Matchup seems pretty even.
ābeatingā is probably the wrong term, but Iāve definitely had cases where stomp or j.HK made my DP whiff because she went behind me, so she got a crush counter as punish.
Thanks for the videos though, Iāll give them a look after Iāve made dinner.
I deal with that alot on Sakura. If a jump in is deep I either do crossup dp or just block.
Out of the last 100 matches I played I won 70, that must be the highest win quote Iāve ever had in a fighting game (with the exception of maybe SCV, though temporarily). Of course there have been a bunch of Sagats and Gs in there whoāre currently learning the character but Iām new to Falke as well so it balances out.
Turns out all I need are good AAs.
If Sagat sucks then what would Capcom need to do to make him top tier?
Safer LK knee?
More pushback on blocked TS?
Vskill buffs TK as well?
VT1 becomes infinite?
His chief weakness, aside from those that SHOULD be included for a character of his archetype, really is how slow his mid-range normals are. Shave off a few startup frames there and he becomes a lot easier to play.
I also say āeasier to playā because Iām still not convinced heās actually bad even though I keep getting my ass kicked (thatās on me for being incredibly sloppy with my AAs). I do think he might be one of the hardest characters to play well, though, and his slow-ass normals contribute to that.
I havenāt played him yet but I think he needs a slight damage buff on some specials. EX Tiger Shotās damage is laughably low for example.
If Capcom makes sagats normals faster, heās immediately busted.
Buff his damage a bit and lk tiger safer. Speeding him up aināt the answer.
Sagat doesnāt need a 3 frame normal in the same way Abigail doesnāt need anything thatās 4 frames.
Donāt @ me.
Sagat damage is already pretty good.
I feel like he could use 10-20 extra damage on dps and tiger shots.
When I say āmid range normalsā I specifically mean c.MK and s.MK. Those are painfully slow.
Also EX Tigershot damage is retarded low. But I honestly think buffing the aforementioned normals is more likely than buffing DP / shot damage, Capcom doesnāt want damaging zoning in this game.
But, again, Iām not really convinced he needs all that much. Weāre still not close to the point where most people have figured out how to play him in the majority of his matchups yet.
Nah Sagat is a pain as is. Faster Mk normals and he starts taking a dump on peeps.
yeah his MK buttons are good, but way too slow to be able to fight majority of others. 10f on st.mk and 8f on cr.mk would be enough of an adjustment. His st.mk is almost as slow as Kolinās b.hk and I think thatās bad.
For quality of life on damage, Iād personally increase his DPs by 10 each. I donāt think his fireball damage needs to be touched, but 10 extra damage on regular fireballs could be good. I donāt think that ones necessary though. His DPs do feel a little bit weak.
