It’s an okay thursday. I’ve had worse ones.
I’ve also had better ones. I had a few to many beers yesterday after I found out one of the bars here had a Tekken 3 20th anniversary tournament there, so I stayed longer than I probably should have. Thankfully there’s absolutely nothing for me to do at work today.

Can you really label DBFZ? A NRS player won EVO, and a Melee player was part of what people claim to be the best match ever.
SonicFox is whatever he wants to be, can’t really label him to an FG genre at this point, he wins whatever he wants to win.
Very true. It did take him a long time to dominate SG though, but the kid is amazing.
You do realize a lot of our complaints are about how fucking short and shitty normals are in this game, right?

Which is just a meme without any real truth either.
Some characters, which used to have good normals were given shorter normals (I.e. the shoto treatment).
Lots of other S1 characters like Cammy, Chun Li, Bison, Birdie, Karin, Rashid and Nash still had great normals.
So Capcom tried to experiment with some characters, and the experiment failed. Fortunately, based on the S3 characters, it looks like Capcom learnt it’s lesson (most S3 characters have pretty good buttons).
Maybe the S1 characters who were shafted will get some love in S4. Maybe not. But it’s never been true that all normals in this game are bad. Truth be told, if Ryu got his old cr.mk back, 90% of the people complaining about bad normals would stop.

SFV is a bad game because it killed Mike Ross and sent Gootecks to retirement.
regardless of changes to the game some people just won’t like it cause it isn’t one of the older games anyway, think this discussion never goes anywhere due to preferences to older games

I’m mad jealous. All the bars in my area are the modern family style micro breweries and the closest arcade machines are in either Regal Cinemas or the Dave and Buster’s in White Marsh. None of which are like the arcades I grew up with anyways. I don’t even know where to find a cabinet with a fighting game anywhere near me, now that I think of it.
If I want a beer while playing a FG it leaves me drinking at home while playing fighting games which is both sadder and worse in terms of match results. 
They have “great” normals for SF5. But outside of a few exceptions you dont really get normals that cover space like Charlotte was doing in that vid.
Hell cammy had her far standing roundhouse taken away during the beta. Pfft.

Gaming bars have gotten decently popular around here the last couple of years. It’s not something you see everywhere, but there’s at least two within walking distance of my apartment, and there’s a third gaming venue that serves both food and beer, where we’ve also arranged several tournaments.
Speaking of places to arrange tournaments, I talked to the bartender who arranged the Tekken 3 tournament yesterday. The seem interested in having us arrange further tournaments at their place. I tried to get that particular ball rolling, so with some luck I’ll be organizing a tourney there in about a month.
I remember when combofiend said you have to spend bar in sfv to have strong options to cover horizontal space LOL. Think he was explaining why dhalsim had an arc on his fireball.
Luckily they started adding some stronger neutral characters in the later season
So there only showing top 8 of soul calibur 6?
