SFV lounge: London we have a Problem X. SFV gave us the Burger King again

No one loves shimmies so they prefer to press buttons, especially after Platinum rank.

Sucks for them then. Young Zeku is a machine gun full of meaties. Hell Old Zeku is too if youā€™re letting me wack you with MK kokus.

Like damn, just block man. Playing like they a corner screaming to throw the damn towel.

I like people that block. SFV makes it easy to see people who grew up with home training and know how to block.

For the sagat players what are you using to close the distance? I need to make the knee safe somehow. Kara tk maybe

Glad this worked out for you. I was thinking something might fix it.

I used to have a problem with the game that was related to my computer and possibly how hardware can effect CFN (even though it shouldnā€™t, but yeah). My computer I believe the motherboard wasnā€™t installed super awesomely so it freezes on a blue screen if it goes into stand by like 80 percent of the time. Once that happens have to reset/power off the computer. Then when I did that and turned it back on I couldnā€™t play SFV online without crazy rollback after the first 3 seconds of every round. Of course it was one sided as the opponent could do all of their combos and had no problem teching throws.

I figured out that if the problem occurred I could shut down the computer legit from windows and that would fix the rollback until it went into stand by. Now I just turn stand by off on the computer and havenā€™t had any of the constant rollback since. Not to mention no more worrying about the comp freezing up except on rare occasion. Now itā€™s just rare occasional laggy person, but good other than that.

Iā€™m not a Sagat player, but iā€™d say fireballs. Piss oponents off and make them come to you and die trying.

Thatā€™s the plan but g absorbs them lol

Absorbs them AND gets free Presidentiality at the same time.

Thoughts on Sagat from a lifetime Sagat player after a few days:

Heā€™s good. But not ā€˜SFV goodā€™.

To elaborate, Sagat wants to play Street Fighter. He is a fundamentalistā€™s dream, in that he relies on an old school, time-tested, battle-worn gameplan to get his damage. He wants to Tiger Shot with optimal spacing, and punish opponents who overextend with big damage AAs. He has decent long range buttons that control space well, and good damage off combos. He does very well against characters that play Street Fighter. He is a well rounded character in context of his moves and his approach to every fight, just like he always has been.

His problem is, he is in SFV. Fundamentals, while strong, are not enough in this game. Too many characters in this game have no interest in playing Street Fighter. There is so much unga tomfoolery in SFV, and Sagat is going to struggle to keep up against these characters unless you play the absolute perfect game and are 100% optimal with every decision and button press. Sagat cannot rob you blind the way even some mid tier characters can. His V-Triggers rely more on hit-confirming into big damage than straight up oppressing your opponent. An argument can be made for VT2, but I feel like the gimmick of the guard break is a week one thing. It doesnā€™t come across as fearsome as Abigailā€™s. I think this is why a lot of people think heā€™s weaker than he actually is.

That said, as a guy whoā€™s played him in pretty much every game heā€™s in, heā€™s fun. Capcom did a good job translating his playstyle to a game where youā€™d think it wouldnā€™t really work. His zoning is solid, the frames on his Tiger Shots are favourable for the most part, and he can make you play his game for much of the match. Itā€™s been a while since I was active on SRK, but The King is fun enough for me to play a game I donā€™t really enjoy all that much.

I only play Ryu

Well, i guess, G canā€™t keep you out. Walk closer and thenā€¦

Note that said range only works as long as G has no meter and isnā€™t at Level 3 Pres. As EX/LVL3 Spin Kick is Projectile INvulnerable.

This has been said before about characters like Guile and it ended up being that he could take control of the neutral. Even James Chen said on commenatary that Cammy ā€œhas all the tools, but none of the gimmicksā€. Which I dont think is completely true, but Id say its safe to say that Cammy and especially Guile dont hold you up at the jewelry store and rob you of your win every match.

There are characters that are top tier in this game also because they are just so good at being honest that itā€™s ā€œcheapā€. Thatā€™s why everyone and their mom wants to play Cammy and cant keep her out their mouth and people talk about fighting Guile like itā€™s Tuesday stock day at the electronics store.

V trigger and high/low/left/right/command grab scum is important in this game, but itā€™s not the be all end all of what makes you top tier. Itā€™s prevalent, but thereā€™s a clear position of high tiers that rely on just being better than the other characters by just flat out being better.

The question is whether Sagat falls into the line of honestly top tier like Cammy or Guile or falls into honestly too honest tier like Ryu and Sakura. I would say heā€™s going towards more the former considering he has what is basically Vanilla s.LK back and the best shots heā€™s had in a while. These are tools that made him top tier in games where Claw could fly around the screen and end Sagat in 3 or 4 dives.

Ooo Iā€™ve been changing my approach after seeing that earlier then my opponent stopped jumping. Iā€™m not completely lost my thing is closing the gap i tried to kara tk more during this set and to go some type of block string once in.

Pretty much. Itā€™s been a while since Sagat had a st.LK as good as Vanilla Sagatā€™s and boy, is this button great. What I think he has over the two characters you mentioned is he does fundamental better than both. His neutral game is very strong and thatā€™s why I donā€™t think heā€™s anywhere near as bad as some people are making him out to be.

Donā€™t get impatient. Ultimately G has to get in on you, not the other way around. Just stay at a range where he cannot react with V-Skill. If he tries to go for a charge, TK will get there. Your s.LK will keep him honest as well. The longer the game goes, the better it will be for you. But ultimately Sagat requires absolute mental fortitude. You have to make the opponent crack before you do. Youā€™re the King, peasants have to come to you, not the other way around.

Okay, whoā€™s running a Battle Lounge tonight?

Your right tho. Looking at my replays my lights and patience won rounds whenever I tried to go ham I had varied results. But I think I did better than last night.

Iā€™m down to play some games.
